It does help that Helia's more of an exception on the first game. Like you still have other lovers that are very much different from her on that regard. And I do think you can just fast-forward through her bullshit and eventually just stick with the good parts which (even if not ideal) is still decent enough. That and she's a part of CoC1, where the batting average is usually pretty decent, if not a bit lacking because it too had problems getting out there (looking right at ya, Isabella) and where player input was generally more pro-player (Izma and Amily come to mind).

CoC2's companion crew has Brienne who does love the PC (think Brint apparently does have a similar relation with a female PC, someone will probably clear that up) and her only real problem is probably her frequency. So, y'know. A- and all that. Then we have the Atugia who's fairly alright and a bit better now that they gave her some scraps to do, Agnimitra who's probably one of the funniest character they came up with but not particularly great at the whole romance thing (and a couple of other things as well, come to think of it), Viviane ( ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ), Kiyoko (who Tobs proceeds to ruin by the time you get her as a companion for whatever reason), the Women with Penises Tag Team (one's a sub, one's a dom, personally care for neither but I do suppose they have strong romance in their own ways) and that one character nobody likes. I feel like I'm forgetting someone but I'll just move on.

So, y'know, not the greatest of batting averages to begin with, even worse if you dislike futas. Though at least they made it so you get both types of futa this game has - the one who might as well be a man with breasts and the one who only happens to have a dick.

Yeah the weird thing about this game is that all of the characters I really liked, I couldn't get as followers or they just don't have a lot of content built into them.

Here's a real hot take here, but I actually think Anno is the worst of the three. For all people complain about Cait shoving herself in every scene, Anno does so even more plus she keeps trying to proposition to you randomly. Not to mention if you romance Syri, Syri suddenly gets the hots for her sister too. You bring in other crew members onboard your ship, you'll suddenly get a scene where Anno's pulling them to her room to bang. And again... SHE FUCKED OUR DAD! Fucking hell Savin, I don't want to be tunnel buddies with my old man!

I can only recall a few moments where Cait barges into a scene to slut it up, like your marriage with Atani. And even then, she's usually running off with randos and not your companions. Imagine if Cait just ran around the Wayfort, pulling Drifa, Elthara, and Zhara into her bedroom.

Yea girl on girl is less egregious. But I'd just like to opt out in general. I've maintained a simple outlook. You want NPCs to bump text uglies? Cool. What does that have to do with me? You want NPCs to hook up and form a relationship? Their fascination with it is weird, but cool. Again, what does that have to do with me? I don't expect to lay claim to everyone. I understand it's a porn game and folks swapping bodily fluids like an extreme game of hot potato. Just why do I have to participate? And it ain't even just this game. A lot of VNs and others. A toggle off/on button would fix so many issues...

I don't mind Anno (Steele dad liked her too and I'm not picky, not at all), but it would help if I could shape more of her interactions and the same would do wonders to Cait. Right now she's a love interest, a best friend, a fuck buddy, sex relief and even a pokemon I can throw to random characters so she can fuck them, and because she's all of these things, she excels at none of them

She does some ntr stuff?, doesn't matter she's a slut and still likes you. There's no risk of Cait wanting to leave you or betray you, ever. She'll stay with you no matter what
