We're going to try to make it as easy as possible so only basic to no knowledge of javascript is necessary. We may need to find some way to compile a list of all event names in the game

I won't blame Savin for that one. That one scene where she just fucks some random dude while you watch was another writer. That scene is just the champ slinking about like a wimp so he can watch them have sex.

Half of the reason I actually like Anno is you're invited in the sexual escapades. She's just a fuckbuddy. Savin doesn't even attempt to do the thing he tried with Helia and Cait and try to make the romance anything more than what it is. That was reserved for whoever wrote Erra... And Syri.

He pulled the same shit in TiTs with the Frostwyrm, adding a second "male" one and kept trying to act like it wasn't cheating because it's a "Threesome".

The only credit is that no part of those scenes feel like the usual "threesome". Admittedly the pureblood frostwyrm pregnancy creates a problem that it then solves specifically to make it less than what it is. Look, I still can't help but narrow my eyes when I reminisce on the frostwyrm expansion.

He's got the best work ethic of the entire team bar none. I've never seen him go, "Sorry guys, caught the ligma for the 50th time this week, no updates this month" like Fen. Or just go radio silent like Bubs or Will (God bless Will, I loved his work, my favorite writer hands down, but you gotta admit Will was weak on this aspect, he even said as much himself.)

I've mirrored this in any amount of ways over the years. But while I was preparing to glaze Tobs an intrusive thought wiggled it's way into my head. If you're working on a porn game as a writer and the worst part of your writing is the sex scenes, what's the point of writing for a porn game?

Going back to the topic of characters scrapped/memory holed. I remembered a few more designs/characters that I forgot in my previous post:


This is Gardeford's Kitsune, the woman in charge of the bathhouse. Dunno if she's still in the works or not, but she does make a cameo in one of Hotaru's scenes if I'm not mistaken? She gets mentioned in it at least.



This one I'm unsure of who was meant to write her. I imagine if I bothered to skim through the discord, I'd find out, but I don't particularly care to do that. Obviously she was meant to be a blacksmith. Would've been nice to be able to get some unique weapons and armor from her.



Finally, there's Liuflr. Birb's big c-boy project that was suppose to lead to you being able to completely feminize him, or give him his penis back. What's crazy is he's been in the game for the longest time and still hasn't gotten a proper bust in. What the hell's that about? None of the other NPCs are like this...

I've don't follow TiTs as close as I do CoC II, and now with Will's departure and the fact Bianca, the Jumpers, Sophora, and everything he was working on is all but scrapped- I have even less of a reason to follow that game's development. Nastizia is the only character that's getting updated I really sort of care about anymore.

You've totally summed up my feelings on the Frostwrym situation to a T.

And to your final point about Tobs. Yes, I agree. I'll still praise him for his work ethic but the actual product he makes is bad. It's become clear to me in the past seven years of this game's development he's not going to change his writing habits.

I'm not saying it's easy in the slightest at all when I criticize the writers here. I want to make it perfectly clear, I know from experience how hard it is to write sex, I used to write smut myself.

You sort of need to be in a headspace to really do it. It's very hard to write scenes that don't feel dry or clinical like you're writing a medical textbook. It's hard to come up with words to describe things without just repeating "penis", "cock", and "dick" fifty times in a row. It's how you get shit like "baby bag" and "kit carrier" because you inevitably struggle to not have three long pages of thousands words of smut feel clinical. Less is more when it comes to smut. Yeah, it might seem cool that a sex scene is over ten thousand words long, until you actually read it.

Sex is inherently something that focuses on our senses; sight, smell, touch, taste, sound. All of those are hard to put to words. Tobs tries solving this by using metaphor and tangents to describe things, but that's just not how you go about writing sex. You leave the reader confused and pulled out of the scene. The exact opposite of what you want.

Tantalizing smut is suppose to paint a vivid image, something for your mind to play out like a movie and arouse you as you read. It should be easy to read, the words flowing together and taking the reader along for the ride. It should focus on feelings, what do the participants feel? How are their bodies reacting? Show us the actions, the shifting positions, the expressions on the participants' faces. Describe the scene using your senses. Metaphor has it's place, but not when it's spent padding out a paragraph for no point other than the be poetic. It should be simple and to the point, then back to the feelings. Feelings are the focal point.

Yea girl on girl is less egregious. But I'd just like to opt out in general. I've maintained a simple outlook. You want NPCs to bump text uglies? Cool. What does that have to do with me? You want NPCs to hook up and form a relationship? Their fascination with it is weird, but cool. Again, what does that have to do with me? I don't expect to lay claim to everyone. I understand it's a porn game and folks swapping bodily fluids like an extreme game of hot potato. Just why do I have to participate? And it ain't even just this game. A lot of VNs and others. It's like folks have an assumption that everyone has a voyeuristic fetish.

I feel that, and yeah it should 100% be an option whether you want your partner having sex with other people male or female. I think it would be common sense but common sense isn't so common these days lol.

One thing that's been in the back of my mind is Kiyoko's big fear that gets revealed to us just before the Lureling fight. In vanilla, Kiyoko's big fears are:

Wonders if she really was a good mother, and if it's fine to be out adventuring away from her children.

And

Fearful that she is too distant to Kinu, wonders if she is now obsolete after raising her.

Both are all right, and are in her character. Though we don't really see these fears manifest in the plot. I feel like they really missed the opportunity to make Kiyoko's fear being returning the the Astral Plane. It would really add some good depth, this idea that her meeting someone she's deeply in love with, having a perfect family, getting freed from her captivity, reconnecting her old best friend who just so happened to still be alive all this time; What if there's this little voice in her head telling her that this is all too perfect? This is all just a mad dream she's come up with because she's been stuck all alone for centuries? That one day she's going to wake up to find herself back in that cabin?

I present to you, in the spirit of /cocg/ my autism manifested:



Now look. I'm not saying we need to turn Kiyoko into a traumatized mess. That's Tobs level of writing. But getting locked up in a ball for hundreds of years alone has got to leave some mental scars. Her overcoming her years of isolation, maybe slipping up here and there as she forgot one random custom of Kitsune society, or Kitsune stopped doing some old custom from her days, but everyone is too polite/low status to tell her she's made a mistake until Komari or Kinu pipe up, or needing the champ to comfort her and give her cuddles and acts clingy.

We could also see this in how she handles her kits, moments where she's loving and sweet and actually showing maternal affection because they're living symbols of how she survived, reminders that she's not alone anymore. Maybe a scene where she's having that feeling of paranoia but then Kinu or one of her siblings hugs her and snaps her out of it.

Finally, the last character with art was this Kistune chick Jstar had on the backburner that I swear was meant to be Kazuo's daughter but for the life of me I can't find any mention of this on the forums. I swear on Kiyoko's baby bag I remember reading about this though feel free to correct me if I'm just having a schizo moment.

Incorrect. That's art of Tetsuya's twin sister. As for Kazuo's daughter, there's been ideas, but I've been preoccupied with other content. Also we've already got a lot of fox ladies, so it's a low priority.
