It's not surprising at all. They've been engaged in this self-plagiarism all the way back in early TiTS. They were copying the characters from their previous works for almost a decade now.
First it was inserting CoC characters into TiTS, and now it's inserting both CoC and TiTS characters into CoC2.
Raphael has already been called out many times. And I have personally pointed out that Hana (Savin's self-insert) is literally just Kaede from TiTS (who was also Savin's blatant self-insert). There were other instances, but I just don't care enough to remember.

Sure, like how B just keeps writing Brooke over and over again. I'd say the Raphael thing is different, because that was specifically TOBS venting his hatred, that wasn't about re-using the content, it was a hit piece against the old fox/kitsune material. But it feels particularly eye rolling to pull on Helia/Helspawn again, especially after he had that little diatribe inside of FoE. Is he poking the bear? Or is he just unable to get over a perceived mistake, that was entirely his own making? Or is he just so out of creativity he's cannibalising his own content again? Or perhaps all of the above.

I love the writer who made the mermaid doujin. It was due to his comic with Hasshaku-sama that got me hooked on tall women. I also like how he can get you perfectly scaroused. Like yeah the mermaid is hot alot of things about her show just how inhuman she is. Why does she have claws, she's so fucking large, why are her eyes dark like the depts of the sea...and why can't I see her teeth? It's like she's hiding them. Honestly I have mixed feelings about Hana for another reason. Back at the start of her implementation I was bouncing an idea on their forum that it would be nice to have a Kitsune country girl who arrived at the treehouse, but ran away. And we'd be able (if willing) to help her settle away from the others, maybe make it a start of a settlement, obviously pregnancy included, but also potentially introducing new Tanuki group, who would be closer to rowdiness of Pompoko Tanuki. Just, you know, a countrygirl who is fed up with living her life as she's told (with consequences) and attracting other oddballs.

To this, Savin replied "That's just Hana." Like hell she is...
