You need to use the "talk" option to ask them to be in a poly relationship with you once your relationship meters are high enough.

I need to try to get a poly with the flatmate and their partner. Some weird sub/dom/hatefuck triangle where everyone exerts dominance over the other two by fucking one and ignoring the other.

In DoL you can get raped, both on and off the bus, just come home late more often and you will be guaranteed dirty adventures.
In this game, most of the perks are achievements that perform statistical functions for the player and give small bonuses, but determine little for other NPCs, the most you can see is dominant or submissive behavior, as well as what they can dress a little more revealingly because of the exhibitionist perk, and their lust will grow a little more often, because of the arousal-related perks, but nothing else. Most of the perks do not determine the behavior of NPCs in the game; there are no game mechanics that would ensure this.
Not entirely true, there are scripts that check whether an NPC is polyamorous, loyal (less likely to accept cheating sex), disloyal (opposite), whether they care about your character cumming and/or any requests the player makes.
Granted they're not really "systems", but they are set up to do different things based on different inclinations (however not all of them, for instance humiliation kink doesnt really do anything, neither does natural odour).
Giving npcs polyamorous should make them able to be in a poly relationship, but if i were you i'd first check what traits a naturally polyamorous npc has and figure out if there is any other inclination that needs to be added alongside "polyamorous" or any other inclination that needs to be removed

I got the follow up event.
After catching the porn addict at least once, there is a chance they walk up to you and ask if they can masturbate while looking at you.
I got this to trigger randomly entering the lounge.
As someone else said: You have to talk to them and form a relationship. This is done via the People button when you're both in the same place at the same time. You being in the same place at the same time is most likely to occur if they sleep in your dorm or at the Friday night party. To have someone join your polycule, they have to have either the Open Relationship or Polyamorous trait afaik, and then Romance and Friendship have to be fairly high afaik.
Also if you do a hang out as a polycule thing, the sex scene it initiates can happen with 4+ people (you + 3+ other members of your polycule).
However, it's a bit buggy tbh. Threesomes are still a -bit- buggy right now because they added in the new positions systems that take into account walls and furniture. Usually there's a primary partner in the threesome and someone else is the secondary. The secondary might choose a position that should be impossible with the furniture/wall used but does it anyway.
Foursomes or above run into issues of the tertiary member trying to inititate position changes or stuff trying to join in on the action but being unable to. I've seen them constantly spamming position changes.
The other issue is that you're the focus in a foursome. It'd be better if they focus some on eachother. So the system needs work but it looks promising. As such: For polycule hang outs: Don't go with anything above a threesome until they work on the system.
You can also check their profile past 18:00 in the People tab and it will tell you "they are most likely at X now" where X is the name of the place. Going to that place and opening the People tab will also allow you to talk to them (so you don't have to wait until a friday)
It was a long time before I realized that so much of what I wanted to do could be done through the People tab.
I can't help but wonder how hard it might be to make non-con mods. Add back in the non-con content that got cut and expand it with more. Maybe a mod that allows your partner to cheat on you/get seduced. Need that sense of danger/risk to give some spice to this game, but Patreon unfortunately won't let it happen. I know DoL can be modded.

Skills are sometimes hidden until you get a point in them, I believe - train in the gym once and you should see it. It's normally between Anal and Intellectual. As for the values, they are in
SugarCube.State.variables.pcskills - I don't know what the ones in pc.skills are.Special character genders dont work?

Reminds me of how there seems to be no way yet of choosing roommate's partner's gender. I'd personally like that as a feature, unless I'm missing something.

Roomate's Partner gender is interesting, if you are gay or Bi it will seemingly always be of your gender iirc....
HOWEVER, if you do quick start and pick yourself as Bi then the Roommate partner should be of the oposite sex, this is also the only way to get Virgin Demisexual/Poly/Slut orientation.
