Hi, Ive done a search and not really found what I am looking for.

Can anyone give me a guide or point me to one, thats straight forward on how to start to make your own clothing?

I'd like to start with something simple, such as a bra or blouse for G8 Models..

Thank you.

For textures, photoshop and alternatives. I don't see a better tool.
For creating clothes, Marvelous Designer. This is his primary goal and there are a ton of tutos on the net.

So what about any templates to follow?

I'll keep googling but thought maybe there would be some defaults to use and work from.

Texture templates are basicaly maps to help texture the clothing/3d objects. Each 3d item has it's own template usualy. Some products provide templates to use, but not always. And if you create a new item, it will have it's own template.

Clothing templates to use in clothing softwares are usualy just drawings of the different parts that will be sewn together, google search in the images category has a bunch of those for free. Just draw those forms in the software you use; also the software usualy has some basic tutorial projects/files with clothing exemples. This will create a clothing/3d item, and it will have it's own texture template.

OK thanks, I just thought that there were some templates / maps for each model (eg G8 M or a G8 F ) in Daz itself to trace or use...

Thanks though, I will keep plodding on.

Making clothing items is basically 3d modeling, and clothing softwares are specialised 3d modeling softwares. They are easy to use and a good way to start making clothing items because they automatically handle alot of details when it comes to 3d modeling, so you can focus on the creativity side instead of the technical details.

Many of Daz products are not made with those specialised softwares thou, and thus do not have a template/pattern, they were directly sculpted in the more generic 3d modeling softwares. Now, those "can" be imported into the clothing softwares, and templates/patterns will be "auto-generated", but the result is not always the best. Still that is possible.
