Greetings, everyone!

We're Crimson Delight Games - three IRL friends who love designing and playing (lewd) RPGs.

We thought we'd come in and introduce ourselves! Our first project is a 2D, party-based CRPG that takes place in an original setting. We're hard at work preparing our initial release (a short preview that'll showcase the game's setting and art). We're probably going to open a dedicated thread about our game a bit later (as soon as the mods approve our account), but until then, we're here to answer questions if anyone's interested.

We also wanted to put up a poll and get a bit of feedback from some of the regulars here. Basically, do you prefer simplistic VNs (simple mechanically and story-wise), or more complex and branching games with sub-systems like combat and crafting? Our game is loosely patterned on the old Infinity Engine CRPGs like Baldur's Gate (non-linear exploration, party banter, branching dialogue, secondary and tertiary quests, mage duels, etc.), so we'd like to know how much (if any) interest there is for something like that among F95 regulars.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I voted mixed but I like RPG's and I would enjoy all the things you describe your game having. Having companions, combat, level growth and loot finding (including drops,steals & hidden) is all things I would enjoy in addition to a nice story. In general I think a porn game can have any mechanics a regular game has. You just got to pick your genre.

Hey, welcome to the forum. I actually found you through another thread, and those signature images piqued my curiosity. (That's proof right there that signatures do work to generate interest, lol.)

Now, I didn't cast a vote to your poll as none of the choices fit well for me due to how certain facets were explicitly called out.
What I really like is a good story first over other aspects. Unfortunately, this typically tends to lend itself to simpler games when it comes to adult-oriented games. I would love a complex narrative where choices matter with interesting gameplay mechanics to back it all up. However, gameplay mechanics is less important to me than the story itself (and solid writing with proper application of grammar) when it comes to adult gaming. The story and its progression is the bread and butter of the whole shebang.

Ultimately when it boils down to it, I want more of the lewd than gameplay. This doesn't mean nukiage, however. I hate nukiage since there's only a semblance of a story in those types of games. If a game doesn't have a strong foundation through its story and bombards the player with scene after scene, then you might as well just go watch porn or something. And along those lines, if a game prioritizes its gameplay mechanics over anything else and doesn't deliver on the lewd, then this is also a problem. A game with too few lewd scenes or is reticent to reveal them to the player (through the game's story regardless of how fantastic the gameplay mechanics are) would defeat the purpose of what an adult, sex-oriented game is supposed to be. The player might as well just play a more popular, studio-backed video game at that point.

There's a reason that users come to a forum like F95, and it's primarily for the adult content in games and assets.

As such, an adult-oriented game should play on its strengths -- a captivating story and its adult scenes. If a game could marry its story with its lewd scenes to its gameplay mechanics, then that would be just great. If it cannot, then a shift in focus to prioritize on the story is needed if not necessary. Frankly, I would love a game that could help elevate the whole adult-oriented gaming scene from the overall view of having low quality standards. Otherwise, I'll take what I can get. However, I simply cannot compromise that there needs to be a good story in there (and of course, proper grammar and spelling), lol.

Good points, all around. Our main focus is making a game that's fun to play and can stand on its own feet, without having to use lewd content as a crutch. Which doesn't mean there won't be any - we're stuffing as much smut into it as possible, but we still want a balanced gameplay loop regardless of lewds.

As far as story and writing, we agree 100% with you; we've got a writer on the team, and his only job is to develop the world, quests, and characters... and write all of it, obviously! Just because a game has porn doesn't mean it shouldn't be playable and fun on its own. Sadly, too many adult devs ignore this because it's easier to slap together lewd scenes, and use the game as a loose container to connect them.

Keep on eye out for us, we'll be releasing a playable build some time within the next 3-4 weeks!
