VN - Ren'Py - Cross Realms [v0.3.0 Public] [DuskDuck]

It's a perfect VN, especially with the latest update. The action never slows down! In my opinion, it's one of the best on the market. I don't understand why some people complain.

Well written, interesting plot and not an overload of characters. The only thing keeping this from a 5*, is there is very minimal player choice, and the MC is too weak of a character. The MC doesnt need to be some all powerful character, but in this case its literally the weakest character in the story - incapable of doing anything on his own, needing to hide behind everyone etc.

This VN has a great story, beautiful action sequences that could be straight out of an anime. The Li's each have their own distinct personalities and motivations in the story. The MC isn't some overpowered male with the magic schlong. There is actual plot development. The game kinda reminds me of BLEACH. The end of Chapter 3 really hit me in the feels.

The story is already great so far — engaging, well-paced, and full of intrigue.
The characters are peak, each with their own distinct personality and backstory that adds real depth to the narrative.

It would’ve been even cooler if we could actually fight mobs and level up through more interactive gameplay mechanics, but even as a visual novel, it’s an impressive experience.

Definitely a VN with the potential to become an 11/10 game.

One of the best in my opinion for AVN so far, that I have played since Eternum. The quality of the story are now my Top 1, on my list. The girls are all very well design and well written. For the action scene I have no seen any like this from the others AVN I have played before, Overall I'm really invested in this AVN as a whole. I hope the story will finish with a banger because this chapter III is giving me a lot of emotion to go trough at the moment. All the best for the developer for this amazing AVN.

The game starts off really promising. Well written characters, good worldbuilding and decently paced.

But then a few hours in that drastically changed. Out of nowhere the author started introduding new characters, concepts, plots, mysteries and adversaries at a rate thats simply insane. While also not resolving any of them. I swear for the last two hours there was not a single minute without something new being introduced. Even if he had spread this over 10 hours it would be too much.

Not sure what happened. My best guss is that they realized that if they kept to their initial pace it would take too long to finish making the game? Shame that their solution was to lower the quality by a few orders of magnitudes instead of adjusting their plans for the story. Because as it is now it is incredibly hard to enjoy.

I really like the story so far, it is very entertaining with lots of action.
The MC is, together with some friends, ported to another realm where people can use magic and fight clans or sects from other realms (or eachother).
Our MC is '"the chosen one", on a quest to get stronger and find out what happened to his parents.

There is a large enough roster of LIs, I haven't checked if this is a harem game but I know already that chosing 1 LI will be difficult if it comes to that.
The models and characters are really nice looking.

There are currently around 7 h-scenes but they are pretty basic, the romance with any of the LIs is really a slow burn and that shows in the h-scenes as they are pretty tame.

All in all a good VN where the story takes priority over "banging as much girls as possible".

Looking forward to continue the story in future updates.

I played version v0.3.0 with the WT mod.

This is a tough one. I was all set to give this 3 stars, but then I got to the end of this version and felt like I had to bump that up.

It's a solid game from the start: the girl models are attractive and I'm all for a chosen one story. The overall story and world is very good, but the dialog and story progression often feel disjointed and awkward.

And then there was Zula... I thought the closing of her arc was handled pretty poorly - both with the awkwardly inserted sex scene and the way the MC was seemingly unaffected by her sacrifice.. Later similar moments were handled better, like with Mathilda and Layla.

As I mentioned though, it was the ending of this version that brought my grade back up. It was epic and engaging. It made me want to see more of this game that I had been ready to write off.

I would like to give a 4*, but not only in the moment i can't, i feel like the future will only bring problems.

The pacing is feeling like some games where everyone gets setup and nothing happens for a long time, then there is a non-stop sex back to back.
Even if it isn't going to happen, there is a lack of scenes without reason, opportunity presented itself.

I mean, i guess i know the reason, the author doesn't really know how to do them, the ones that we have are pretty basic, he barely shows the girls pussy/penetration and you can still notice some clipping issues.

Besides the lack of content and the content that we have been lackluster, another big issue is creating variations. Changing the girl hair or putting glasses on someone that doesn't had it diverges the fans and people get upset either because it changed or because the change didn't stick. Till now they were minor, and the girl getting blonde was not only set beforehand, but made her more unique among the cast, but still, it's another slippery slope.

The story is good, cool, if not lacking agency from the protag, but you know still in early stage.

This is the first time I've played this game and I want to say that I played it for 15 hours until I finished it. So the game has well-defined characters, good graphics, the sounds help to immerse yourself in the game and a brilliant story that contains everything.

I didn't expect that the game content is long in v0.3.0, and it is longer that I thought. It is great to have a long story, no filler writing, and no padding the runtime , but the dev made two mistakes that are very problematic, and could be deadly for nsfw game, which is less nsfw content and overfocused on storytelling.

First, it seems the dev had forgotten his game is a nsfw game, and forgotten the theme of nsfw game, the sexual contents, but he did was focusing on storytelling even more. As a nsfw game, the dev did not focus on creating more nsfw content but storytelling, which was bait and switch. The game only had 9 nsfw scenes in the gallery, which is ridiculous to me, why? I don't understand why he could not do that, but I can guess why, which I will tell it next. Thus, the dev must remember this is a nsfw game, please less storytelling and focusing on creating sexual content even more and more. Less sexual contents game is not a real nsfw game.

Second, overfocusing on storytelling in nsfw game had brought an issue: losing the emphasis sexual contents in the story. In the game, I could see the dev wanted to create a normal and rate 17 game with themes of youth, action, ecchi, and hype-driven Japanese manga and light novel. I understand the dev have an ambition to create a great Japanese anime style story plot to fulfill his dream and desire, but just like I said, it was bait and switch because that is not how nsfw game was to be. The dev focused too much on storytelling, making the plots and settings to be more reasonable and developed. Nevertheless, I think it caused backfire. For whatever reason, the character setting of female characters is not easily to have sex, and the protagonist's is a gentleman and did not have desire for sex; therefore, the nsfw contents will be getting less! Because the dev was overfocusing on how to make the plots and settings to be more reasonable and developed, he could not find reasonable excuses to create more nsfw plots in the game properly, which is why he could not add more nsfw contents but abandoned them. Even if the dev wanted to change the plots and character settings to be more even nsfw, then it could create another issue of out of character.

Moreover, because the dev is very desirable to create a youth, action, and hype-driven story like Japanese anime, manga and light novel, it is inevitable to create commonplaces, overused, and cliche story plots. Thanks to the AI for helping me to make a list of cliche plots, would dev please stop creating more plots of designated moron, strawman antagonist, punching bag character, forced conflict, contrived humiliation, power fantasy trope, women in refrigerators trope, rage-fueled transformation, berserk mode, friendly fire for drama, and plot-convenient death? I don't even want to spend my time to criticize the cliche plots because I had enough already in other anime, manga, and light novel. I mean it is okey to have some cliche plots in any nsfw works, and people love fantasy and substitute into the protagonist, but the cliche contents are too much for any nsfw works! More even like a normal game, rate 17 game, anime, manga, and light novel! Which by the way, this, in turn, probably explains why dev did not focus on creating sexual content because he just wanted to show off his story, and he loves those cliche plots so much, more than sexual contents. The important thing is that, having more creativity, putting more sexual contents, stop focusing on storytelling some unnecessary story setting, and taking out unnecessary cliche plots, if dev really wanted to do nsfw game, or just reveal his true power of writing and storytelling skill in the nsfw game. Otherwise, the story just an ordinary works that like those formulaic and boring anime, manga, and light novel that would not watch for many years.

Anyway, according to the author's writing style, I am getting worried what the dev is going to do because more story setting to tell, there will be filler writing and padding the runtime, and less sexual content to be. Let's hope I was wrong...

Wow, I loved it!! I love the story, it has a little bit of everything, and I'm looking forward to the next chapters, I hope you don't abandon it, I really loved it! He deserves all the support he can get.

I really don't know about this one. It is hinted at this setup of the 9 or however many realms to explain different characteristics of different races. Fine.
The only difference that is tangible is that ... oh, yes, the purple ones are evil, the white ones are good. Until betrayal or whatever. Then there are dozens of different levels and spells but oyu can change between them at whim. And all are presented to you like it's carved in stone for eternity but then you pull out a magical pendant of green stone and nothing matters. Huh.

1. I'm not sold on the storytelling.
2. The girls are pretty but essentially the same with a different wig and a different name. I'm not really feeling it.
3. I'm not insinuating anything but if someone were to suggest that AI could have had a role to play in this game I just might have believed it.

also, there are barely any h-scenes.

Its not bad, but this entire story is an exercise in how often a magical mcguffin can be presented out of no where and how often a love interest can physically assault you, then gain levels of power and still physically abuse you every chance she gets.....but somehow shes the main girl. The fuck? Also don't get me started on the unearned cliffhangers and how the power levels are there just for convenience sakes then completely ignored.

Don't get me wrong. its a fun little tale with barely any sex. Your MC has the worlds biggest dick for no reason at all because it never gets used.

Play It For The Plot. Seriously

This game completely shattered my expectations. Forget about anything else, what I played felt like experiencing an amazing fantasy show; with dating & porn.

It's not a long game, maybe 6 hrs. And yes, it follows the same principles you see in other games that look like this, i.e., women are innocent, cuddly and attracted to the MC with little effort. If that's not your cup of tea, don't worry, because like I said - this game has a seriously good plot. Just play it and see for yourself. And when you play chapter 3, lmk if I this isn't amazing or what. Even if you don't end up loving the game(high-diff), you'll still end up liking it.

Don't bother reading anything more and dive head right in, Cultivator!

Pros:

• Unique cultivation genre (Xianxia, Wuxia, and Xuanhuan)
• Unique Music (compared to other AVNs)
• Interesting main story
• World building and power levels/system
• Incredibly unique environments
• Author has broad story already planned out
• 5-6 month patch cadence (Provided the Developer's job doesn't demand overtime)
• Decent lewd animations

Cons:

• Developer isn't full time.
• Character renders can be rough at times, looking very closely at some renders can reveal mistakes
• Audio could be improved.
• Can get lost in all the power rankings (game as a guide on the click of a button though)
• Developer went to Caribdis's school on cliffhangers
• MC has a savior complex that can get very irritating and makes no sense at times.

Personal thoughts: Cross realms can be best described as a rough gem. You can see the potential that the series has if it keeps on going, but no matter how bright the gem is you still notice the rough corners the gem currently has. If you care at all for cultivation novels this AVN is well recommended game, but if you don't have any experience in those the developer takes a western enough approach to the genre were you will not be lost in the story. This is the developers first AVN, he never made anything similar before but he is a game developer, which shows in the environments he creates. That said if you look long enough you can probably find some mistakes in a render that the author made, whether it is clothes clipping or an accidental line on the environment.

Still I would recommend the game a try, despite the rough renders every now and again the story and main plot are very much present to enjoy and get the readers hooked in. There are 10 planned LIs with some side girls every now and again. The final thing I want to leave with the reader is that this game is truly unique, out of all the AVNs I have played only Companion of Darkness stands out as similar and barely even. If you want an AVN that cant be copied, play this game.

+Great world-building – The different realms and cultivation system make the story stand out.
+High-quality visuals – Character models and scenes look really good, and animations are smooth.
+Choice-based adult content – You can enable/disable certain scenes or kinks, which is a nice touch.
+Regular updates – Dev is active, responsive, and constantly improving the game.

-Still early in development – The story feels like it’s just getting started, and some arcs are incomplete.
-Some UI polish needed – Menus and gallery can be a bit clunky in spots.
-No voice acting – All text, which may not be for everyone.
-Familiar harem structure – If you’ve played other harem VNs, this might feel a bit predictable at times.

If you're into fantasy settings, cultivation, and harem-style stories with real effort behind them, Cross Realms is worth checking out. Still a work in progress, but it’s heading in a good direction.

Excellent story telling for a AVN and looking forward to the updates! Major vibes of Stray Incubus and good comedy all around, and though it is not everyone's cup of tea, I enjoy these kind of renders the best.

I remember I played this game at first and didn't pay much attention to it, then when it started to be updated, I loved it. Really, my respects and thanks to the creator/creators, what a wonderful game in every sense, both in the story, as in the characters, as in decisions, the combat scenes? Completely crazy how well done they are. In my general opinion, a complete 10/10 for this game

Great game with excellent plot, the battle scenes are simply amazing. I think there were no erotic vision novals about Chinese XIUXIAN systems and battles. As a Chinese I simply cannot resist it. Can't wait for 0.4 to see what happened after ten years
