RPGM - Completed - Crypt's Rend [v1.02 Steam] [chimaLABO]

I'm not much of an NTR fan, but the way they handled this game was really great. I played this game in 2023 when it was called Tear of the crypt or something, so excuse me if there are any changes I missed since it seems like this thread was updated since the name change.

First of all, the art is very nice and much above average quality. Secondly, the corruption/way the two protagonists are tempted is perfect, the only way I can like and enjoy NTR. I don't like that heartbreaking NTR you can feel in your chest. I like the other person is way better and hotter, so it feels like you have to give in. This game offers that, so if that appeals to you, go try this game.

Very nice game. Hot corruption for both the male mc and female mc. You get to make choices with both.
Bad thing is that the decitions that matter the most are the ones at the last part, giving less weight to the other decitions you make. Also the h scenes are just images so that can take away some spice for some people.

Full disclosure; I am not an NTR fan, but I was curious by this game and overall I want to make my review without my personal bias towards tags.

TL;DR
Crypt's Rend will sate the tastes of some people looking for NTR with its somewhat unique duo-character NTR story. Overall, the gameplay lacks, but the H-content is decent. It's not fantastic but is short enough and can be gunned through in a low number of sessions.

Longer Version
Crypt's Rend has some slower time-wasting RPG content but overall has a passable story.

I do find one of the most important criticisms to note that this game has hardly any content if you don't actively seek NTR content. I think that a more balanced game would allow lewd content in both scenarios.

I find the descriptive text to be alluring but it's a bit awkward. I find the main male character's corruption to be much less focused than the female character, which detracts from the intended duo-corruption the game is going for.

Additionally, story doesn't flow without forceful/basic player input, which I find to be a negative; it's simply an A or B choice. If you want more lewd/NTR content, choose B, while choosing A yields pure content. I would prefer a challenge system where certain gameplay leads to pure or corrupt content and is navigable by the player.

I was particularly annoyed by some of the "older" RPGmaker systems such as not being able to properly sprint, logs not being available, text not being skippable, etc. The game would definitely benefit from newer RPGmaker freebies that update QOL.

I am a big fan of the artstyle (minus the sometimes awkwardly sized nipples?). It's probably my favorite part of the H-content from this developer, and does its job here as the lewd scenes are quite corrupt and can seriously "scratch the itch" of those looking for these types of H-scenes. I will say, however, that outside of scripted and interval scenes, there is nothing to excite or "edge" the player towards more. Overall, there isn't a surplus of CG and it can detract from the H-experiences of the game, while the core gameplay is rather lackluster.

Conclusion
I'm not a fan of NTR but for those that are, Crypt's Rend does a relatively good job. You'll absolutely be pushed higher in rating if you're a big NTR fan.

A plus to the developer as I didn't feel like my time was disrespected as can be the case with many other F95 games; but still needed some RPGmaker QOL changes to truly be "consumer friendly".

For the rest of us, and those who want a more competent story and palpable characters, it falls a little shorter but remains average. While I don't consider this one a top contender, it's aight.

Pretty short game overall and the normal route with no NTR is pretty boring as hell but if you are a netorare corruption fan then you will def get off to this. The male netorare is kinda meh but the female netorare of her slowly getting corrupted by the incubus while solving puzzles is actually pretty good. Only wish it was longer and more slow burn.

Disclaimer: I am not a fan of NTR. I am a fan of corruption, which is why I tried this. The double-corruption aspect sounded like it would avoid the misery inherent to NTR, so I thought it might be interesting. I did not try to get every ending, since I'm guessing it's possible to get heavier NTR than I got, and I have no interest.

For the most part, this is an exceptional game and very satisfying as a fan of corruption. There are enough issues that I only think it's 4 stars, not 5, but maybe NTR fans can just jump to 5. There's probably more content for them. While I did enjoy this, the rest of the review is going to be the issues I had with it. The good stuff is more subjective, while the bad is a bit more objective. In particular the first one, which I consider to be a huge problem.

Major technical issue: No skip read text. This probably isn't solvable due to the engine. I've never seen RPGM support this before. However, it means RPGM is a poor choice of engine. There aren't many scenes where being able to see the characters and move around really matter, so this could've been done as a sandbox-type VN. Most RPGM games here are linear, but this explicitly has multiple routes - you're expected to play it. And there's no indication when a scene changes due to different past choices.

As a counter point to this read-text issue... there really doesn't seem to be many changes. There's plenty of room here for subtle changes in manner and speech, and there just aren't any that I saw. The library area makes it sound like she would start calling him Lord Sadi if she's being corrupted, but she doesn't. Again, wasted potential. I was skipping over entire scenes and they looked the same, but it's possible I missed something. But the uncertainty is why it's a problem.

Much of the corruption uses magic. This is a completely personal opinion but I find that significantly less interesting. There are lies and manipulations, but much of it is magical corruption. Using magical eyes to charm a girl into a french kiss is less interesting than talking her into a blowjob by lying about MP drain (the kiss was still hot. But it's suboptimal, IMO).

There's a lot of sex that happens off screen and CG reuse, which is pretty disappointing. I'm at least willing to chalk that up to finite budget.

This game also falls into a frequent trap of corruption (and "optional" NTR, I believe). You can choose to engage with the majority of the content (and corrupt one or both characters) or you can choose not to, and get the true end. In other words, you can choose to play the game or not. There's no point in playing a porn game and then choosing to not see the porn.

This game starts off great with an interesting story /premise but issues quickly mount, namely the lack of CG and later when more corrupt scenes are unlocked they're just badly drawn static, censored images.

There are zero clothing options, and items do nothing. The game is like 2-3 hours long at most.

The game just feels very bare bones, a lot of scenes and corruption events are just completely without CG.

There is also a lot of unnecessary flashing. I'd give this a skip.

amazing game that kept me hooked both in the sexy department and the puzzles, even tho the 2nd game has way more content and scenes this one still my favorite, cant wait for the third one tho cuz it seems really interesting. Also i think the translation has some mistakes but overrall it works, and the image of the male demon is kinda goofy

One of my favorites, I love the fact that both characters are getting corrupted at the same time.

There is some reading/puzzle stuff involved, may not be your cup of tea if you just want easy quick CG's

It is a short lackluster game without any quality h-scenes, the corruption is kinda meh.

There are inconsistencies in writing, even if you refuse "kissing" the future story says as if it happened. Some of the choices mean nothing.

P.s. I spent just as much effort writing this review, as devs developing this game.

Has a good story continuing between games played its sequels too, good corruption mechanism and nice animations, female perspective neotare was nice the puzzles also good hoping to see its continuation.

I've played through twice now and really like the different choices and how that effects the story/characters. It is fairly short so replayability is built in. I enjoy this type of game where corruption is a choice and not forced (mostly). I will be following this game maker.

Fantastic gradual corruption, with simultaneous storylines that complement one another. If you like to roleplay the heroine resisting somewhat, some of the later submission choice work best if you did deny the demon earlier.

The plot isn't anything crazy, but it's a functional excuse for the gameplay gimmick.

Also, the game is not very long, so just try it yourself, you'll know if it's your type immediately.

I enjoyed this one, if I had to give it a negative it'd be that it's a bit short
and that I got stuck on chapter 5 for a bit.

The game also has a couple of different endings and mind control which are two of my favorite tags.

4.5/5 I feel that the game is too short but it does a pretty good job at conveying corruption, mind control and NTR.

I really like the art style, the general concept and the corruption... But it's like they fell a little short. As if a few more scenes and it would be just awesome. I would also like it to be a little more diverse as in Curse of Kabul. Which is full of optional scenes that show gradual corruption.

The game gets a lot wrong but at least the cuck gets some action and the love triangle (square?) aspect is a little more interesting then the played out, typical ntr plot.

First off the gameplay is really bad - choices are too binary (do you want to see the sex scene or not), vanilla playthrough has no added difficulty and just as uninteresting as the ntr playthroughs. You just run around and talk to people, collect things. There is one puzzle to figure out in the second chapter which contains the only piece of real thinking and gameplay. There's a big amount of endings but most of them are based on actions in the last chapter which means 90% of the game is a waste of time to play. Positive or negative based on who you are.

Story is okay - a lot of fluff but it may payoff in future games (apparently they are trying to make this a series). NTR in here is super generic and childish, there's nothing to really grip into here. At least there's status changes that you can enjoy after h stuff.

No voice acting at all, big miss, and although there is no animation a lot of games are able to do at least Live2D enhanced CG scenes so combined with the lack of va, the h-content is a little empty. Good chunk of scenes, though.

With the scene gallery being scuffed (the game directly tells you this on booting up), you are kind of forced to play the game at least once to get the context of the scenes. I recommend accepting every sex option until it's one of the last two chapters when the game tells you to start making multiple saves, and at that point you keep one master save and follow the steps to watch the endings. You will probably get bored after seeing two.

great game, takes yet another new spin to the regular RPGM games. this was a surprising play for me and found myself playing it for hours on end. The progression and pacing is great for what it is. Looking forward to the next game!

The story is enjoyable, and the art is good. But the problem with the game is the below average sex scenes... There are very few of them, are not animated, lack variation and sometimes do not even take the hole screen.

There's nothing really new for Corruption or NTR fans. I think it's a pass, unless you really are into "demon/succubus" genre.

The best corruption games are those which are able to convey a gradual increase in tension.

This game excels with well-paced corruption.

Additionally, the double-NTR of both main characters getting seduced into cheating at the same time by the succubus-incubus duo, is a very fresh take on the genre.

The game is freeform insofar as it allows players to voluntarily choose how deeply they sink into corruption.

The game could benefit from being a little bit longer, but that's purely because I have enjoyed it so much.

The artystyle is great, I encountered zero bugs. The sound effects are generic RPGM.

I really like the concept and most of the execution but it had two fatal flaws that to me remove it from the realm of great.

I cant take seriously a chubby Incubus/demon....sorry but it cant, it kills the vibes.

The nipples. Sounds silly but both girls have a really sexy desing but those nipples are a joke and literally bring sexyness down with the demon that had one too many burgers
