understandable reaction since you've been shooed from game requests first!
there, it's a place strictly for requesting new game threads and updates to newer game versions, and uploaders will dismiss away anything that doesn't match what's in the blinding red text when you start a thread / the request rules pinned thread.
here, there are several subforums set for more specific topics, so it's a mix of
staff getting tired of threads ending up outside of them (various subforums here have their own subsets of how-to-use guides and rules threads that are pinned at the top of the thread list), and of users engaging in recommending stuff or seeking recommendations gathering there together.
the latter means you're more likely to get replies there, and with most "a list of all games with specific theme/trope" threads being there too, it's easier to use site search to get results that are just about recommendations (if you haven't used it yet, if you're in a subforum view with the threads list, the site search at the top of the page defaults to "this forum" search which limits searching to that subforum)
