[v0.01]
This is how you create something special. The initial release seems to be criminally underappreciated based on 0 reviewers and only 2 pages of comments as of this writing.
We are greeted right away by that great cover page with a nice retro synthwave track. We start the game and see a few choice quotes that set the atmosphere. It's all quite cinematic. We are introduced to the stage. A very well realized cyberpunk/sci-fi setting.
The third world war placed all major nations under extreme debt, and the cutting edge corporations that provided the tools to wage that war eventually takes the oppotunity to take over the world. We end up with the familiar cyberpunk setting with extreme wealth disparity between haves and have nots. Where megacorps rule the world in place of governments.
We are introduced to the MC, the daughter of one of the megacorp's chairman. There is a rather complex character stats system tracking wealth, respect, security, karma, lust. The consequences of your choices throughout this first installment isn't really realized yet, but it lends itself to many different possibilities on how the MC behaves and develops in the future. Due to the game being in the intro stages, there probably wasn't too many calls for the stat checks, so I did get the impression that the common lines present in between choices didn't always align with what the direction I was picturing for my MC. Still, there is quite a bit of room to define the personality, and with a little bit of head cannon, you can get quite immersed in this world.
The world building is where the dev probably spent a big portion of his efforts and it definitely shows. There is a codex that is accessible anytime. It lists the major characters and factions as they are introduced, giving much more backstory and relevant info than what we can gather from just the game dialogues. The codex will also updates periodically based on your choices.
The writing isn't flawless. I spotted some typos and occasional awkward sentence structures. However, there is no problems with Engrish and the characters certainly come with their discernible traits and personalities. While the prose and the technical writing ability may not match the works of cyberpunk novelists (an unrealistic expectation to be sure), the content of the world being created is certainly commendable. I think it's a very fine effort.
The renders are good enough in my opinion. The visual and artistic direction is very fitting for the setting. Droids, CorpSec uniforms, implants, typical futuristic clothing seen in elites of society. The game does make ample use of floating sprites during most conversations. Not my favorite style for 3DCG games, but it will certainly lead to much faster development for a dev just starting out.
All in all, this is a great addition to the small pile of cyberpunk adult games worth mentioning. I truly hope that it gets some recognition, although my observation of the porn game market leads me to believe people don't appreciate good story telling and artistic vision as much as ... well just mindless incest harem porn lol.
