Review for Demo
This is rough if you want any semblance of a decent story or dialogue. The previews caught my eye and credit where it's due the game has a bit of a unique look to it, but it feels like the dev put 90% of their effort into looks and sandbox systems only to remember at the very end "oh shit my game needs some writing too."
The MC completely lacks any sort of charisma. His background does not get explained beyond him being 20 and traveling from some distant land to a kingdom he doesn't even know the name of to "create a guild of fellow weaklings" because weaklings need to stick together. Sure zero to hero could be fun if this twenty year old MC had any saving graces and didn't speak like a naïve middle schooler.
He gets sad when no one wants to join him nor will anyone accept him. Enter hot mage girl who's willing to team up with him, the one caveat being her magic can be a bit unpredictable. What does our weak and looked-down upon MC do with this offer? Look down on the girl who actually wants to help him because she's not from a big magic academy and can't completely control her magic. Then out of nowhere, on their sudden journey to the magical mountain of power, he just turns over to her and starts calling her hot? It's just strange. The MC speaks like a robot. The "plot" progresses. A giant monster attacks us but our mage friend holds it back long enough that we can RUN UP AN ENTIRE MOUNTAIN, conveniently find thor's hammer, and fly back to one shot the monster with our free power up.
Now this is where the big twist happens. We get back to the guild hall, and the leader of one of the big guilds says "hey I'm a descendant of Odin give me that hammer!" and it's here we learn she's actually a shitty person and she's going to kill us. Queue the MC hilariously getting punched into a wall, our mage friend trying to defend us and getting inured, and then the MC having a sort of rage moment by smacking her with the hammer. "He turned her into a vegetable!" someone shouts. Now the whole kingdom hates us and we are branded as outlaws. Time to get dropped into the sandbox.
Now it may sound like I'm over exaggerating and really condensing down what happens with the story here, but the problem is I'm not. It's almost nonsensical. You really gotta suspend some belief here, and at the end of the day what are you doing it for? The MC is completely forgettable, this sort of revenge clear your name plot is incredibly forced, and the few things I did in the sandbox portion just seems like it exists to exist?
Again the game looks nice enough and could have a pretty distinct vibe with the renders, but absolutely none of the writing hooked me into wanting to play more of this. I seen one sex scene that was shown after you win a fight and it really was just "I beat you in combat and now I will fuck you" and that was that. Fine enough animation I suppose? But that's the only positive I really have to say about it.
I read that the dev cut a lot of content from this demo compared to a fuller version, but if this preview was still supposed to get me on board despite that, it didn't do the job. Seems like a strange decision but I digress. I can't imagine part of the cut content was the writing being more fleshed out, which is the main thing I look for in lewd games. I'd be happy to be proved wrong though and wish the dev luck regardless.
