I thought RawlyRawls implicated his passing. Am I mistaken? (Believe me, I would love to be.)
That's because for now Lana/Daniel is still interesting, thanks to the whole jealousy arc and the risk of getting caught, but it's a matter of time until readers consider it boring, it's already happening with some readers here, something has to happen and they can go two routes, they give us more Lana/Daniel, making her embrace the relationship and maybe giving us pregnancy... or they start giving us threesomes/foursomes, Daniel literally has a mom, a female cousin, an aunt, a grandma, if Daval and subs want, they can turn it into the definitive incest comic.
You act like this comic is about to end, it may last for 20 more issues, there's a lot of time for more content and a change of narrative, there's time for more development and hints, if you guys want 20 issues of the Daniel "tricking" Lana for sex and she saying "oh, I can't believe I'm in this situation again, but I will never admit I like it" over and over again, well it's fine, but to me it's clear Daval is planting the seeds to develop other characters in this comic, it may take 5 or 10 more issues, but to me it will happens.
Which readers will consider it boring? Everything is important in context. Would the mother-son incest crowd find it boring any time soon? It's possible, but 1000+ pages of content focused on Daniel and Lana have provided no such indication. Immoral Desires contains Daval's most exclusive pairing, that is Lana and Daniel, with the occasional run-ins with Alex (and almost Sophia,) yet Immoral Desires, and I'm willing to bet an arm and leg over this, is his most POPULAR series amongst his others. As Jack_Zy pointed out, he already has a harem series in Satisfying Needs, and he has an incest "free for all" in Madness Together. (I won't get started on his works under the alias DirDr/DirDogma.) Is it because of Lana's design? I don't doubt that's a contributing factor as I've seen posts which laud her appearance, but I've pointed out in a previous post that her appearance isn't entirely original. And one can argue that Sarah from MT rivals her, or at the very least comes in as a close second. But it's clear that his magnum opus is Immoral Desires. And the reason I assume that is, is a result of the aforementioned demographic--i.e. the mother-son incest crowd--not to mention Daniel's dominant personality and methods of approaching his mother sexually. Artists have taken polls time and again, and the mother-son genre has consistently overwhelmed the other genres. Daval had a chance to capitalize on this in Satisfying Needs but erred with his, and I'm just assuming this, "taste" for polyamorous sexual depravity. The same can almost be said for Madness Together--hence the controversy with Uncle Peter given that Sarah was and is by all means and purposes a surrogate "mother" for David. As long as the crowd to which Daval caters continue to respond positively to the progression of his work with Immoral Desires, he has enough incentive to keep "repeating." And repetition isn't necessarily bad, especially when it's lucrative.
Will Daval's current approach in Immoral Desires get boring after a while? Depends on whom you ask. But what are you indicating when you state that? EVERYTHING (IN PORN/HENTAI/3D WORKS) CAN GET BORING AFTER A WHILE. (Caps for emphasis, not "internet shouting.") And I harken back to my last post when I questioned the chances that one hasn't already seen everything there is to see. I mean is Immoral Desires the first story to focus on a male character aggressively pursuing his mother? Mythological lore and Shakespeare's plays had a leg up on that one. And yet we still come back to these themes, and regurgitate them over and over. So is the issue really the "bordem" that repetition can bring, or is it--as Jack_Zy implied--a projection of one's own wishes--i.e. one would like to see Daniel pursue Sophia and Martha? I'll be the first to tell you that there's nothing wrong with admitting that. You are, needless to say, entitlted to your preferences. I may not subscribe to them (e.g. I think you're overestimating some throwaway details like the bra, Lana's mention of her siblings and parents, and the attractiveness of auxilliary characters like Martha and Sophia) but I'll defend tooth and nail your capacity to express your preferences as you see fit. I mean, isn't that the epitome of this forum?
