Character Workflow
Step 1: Preparing Characters in DAZ Studio
  1. Character Creation
    • Build character with unique body shapes and features for diversity.
    • Add hair.
    • Set mesh resolution to "Base."
  2. Morph Creation
    • Create morphs for the character.
    • Save the scene as Base Mesh (for use with clothing).
    • Export via Diffeomorphic script or File > Export to Blender (creates a DBZ file next to the DUF file).
  3. Genital Setup
    • Add genitals, shell, and apply gen material. Use shell fix if needed.
    • Save the scene as Nude.
    • Export via Diffeomorphic script or File > Export to Blender (DBZ file).
  4. Outfit Creation
    • Create outfits and save each:
      • Underwear
      • Casual 01
      • Casual 02
      • Uniform
      • Swimwear
      • Formal
      • Special (e.g., bondage gear or themed outfits).
    • Export each outfit as DBZ file with Diffeomorphic.
Step 2: Import to Blender and Prepare Characters for Rigging, IK, and Deformations
Setting Up Blender
  1. Clear the Scene
    • Press A then X to delete everything in the scene.
  2. Open Import Tool
    • Press N to bring up the toolbar.
    • Select Easy Import DAZ tool.
Importing DAZ Files
  1. Select DUF File and configure import settings:
    • Operator Presets: Genesis 9
    • Mesh Fitting: DBZ file
    • Material Method: BSDF (Cycles Only)
    • Merge Materials: Enabled
    • Eliminate Empties: Enabled
    • Merge Rigs: Enabled
      • Create Duplicate Bones
    • Bone Setup:
      • Make all bones posable
      • Face Units, Expressions, Visemes, FACS (Details and Expressions), Body, JCMs, Flexions
    • Transfer Settings:
      • Transfer to Face Meshes, Shapekeys
    • Rig Type: MHX
    • Additional Bone Settings:
      • Tweak Bones, Finger IK
  2. Import Character
    • Click Easy Import to bring in the character.
Loading Morphs
  1. Open DAZ Importer toolbar:
    • Genitals Morphs:
      • Select genitals mesh (orange triangle icon).
      • Choose Import Custom Morphs.
      • Select all .DSF files, set Category to "Genitals," and import.
    • Main Body Morphs:
      • Select Genesis mesh.
      • Choose Import Custom Morphs.
      • Import desired morphs, setting appropriate category names.
    • Repeat for Additional Morph Folders.
  2. Verify morphs in the Morphs tab.
Step 3: Transfer Shape Keys/Morphs and Merge Geografts
  1. Transfer Shape Keys/Morphs
  • Before merging geografts (e.g., genitals), transfer shapekeys/morphs from main body to geografts.
    • Process: Select geograft(s) first, then main mesh (body) → Click Transfer Morphs in DAZ Importer toolbar.
  1. Save Progress
  • Save the file as (CharacterName)BeforeFuse.blend.
  1. Merge Geografts
  • Select genitals or other geografts, then Shift-click the body.
  • In DAZ Importer toolbar, go to the Finishing tab and select Merge Geografts.
  • Confirm and apply.
Fix Genital Poke Through in Clothing
  1. For each clothing item:
  • Select the clothing, enter Sculpt Mode, and use Poke Through to adjust any overlaps.
