Hi guys,
I've been playing around with ideas for a H-game for some time. I'm a coder with about 40 years' experience. Prior to my current job, I had my own games development business (actually, still do but it's a side-hustle these days) but was focusing more on mentoring and helping clients develop their games on a freelance basis. One of the things I was asked to do was create a procedurally generated dungeon for a client. It was a Hitman Go style game with infinite levels. I ended up doing most of the work on that project so have an engine pretty much ready to go, although I'm not sure what state it's currently in. The original boilerplate code was provided to me by the client and it's messy as hell so ideally the whole project needs a rewrite.
Unlike other Hitman Go-style games, this didn't restrict you to stealthily getting past guards. It was also an RPG. If you came into contact with an enemy piece on the board, you'd then hit a combat screen. This was inspired by the combat screen in Ubisoft's Child of Light. I think that combat system's been used in other games but this was the first and only time I'd seen it in action.
I've been lurking around this forum for some time. Let's be blunt, I want to quit my job and get back to games. So, I have this engine that, despite the code being messy, was pretty much done just sitting there for some graphics, audio and other stuff to be added and polished. So, why not a H-game? One of the criticisms I've seen of existing games, and one which I totally understand, is the requirement for characters to be injured, captured or killed to see all the H-scenes. That doesn't necessarily need to be the case and that's something that would be avoided in this game.
So, stay tuned. Might be a bit of a delay while I rework the engine to something far tidier than it looks now, but this thread will be updated in due course. I'm not an artist but would love to be able to create something along the lines of Pure Onyx for the combat screen.
