Best H sim I have played. MC stats progress in a lot of ways, it develops physically and mentally. You can dig for an interesting history and there are tons of events to explore. It truly takes advantage of being a text based game and gives plenty possibilities to the player. What can I say? 5/5

I've been playing this game for over a year and I used to be on his/her Subscribestar before my money ran out. The game is incredibly good, with characters with backgrounds, personalities and a lot of game mechanics. If you think it is possible, you can make it!

    A succubus? SURE
    A cowgirl/cowboy? SURE
A mix of succubus and cowgirl/cowboy? SURE

Basically, anything is possible. Even if it isn't possible now, the dev drops frequent updates!

Amazing game, so many things to do with a lot of replayability. I've been playing for four years now, and there's still stuff I haven't seen. Usually, updates take about a month, but that hasn't been the case recently. But the updates that take longer usually have a bunch of new changes to it, be it QOL changes or a bunch of new events. This game is still fun after all the time I put into it. This is my favorite porn game.

It was for a very long time one of my favorites, despite the low graphics. I love the writing and the exploring. But it has its flaws, which let me lose interest over time. the grinding is sometimes too much and in some cases I would like to see more action then just a long wall of text. The fights can get boring after a certain time, because its too repetitive. Its still a very good game, but for a perfect game it would need some adjusting.

it’s a game where anything can happen at random times. It gives you the freedom to roam around the world without being handheld. Unfortunately, this can also be bad as sometimes you may get stuck in a route or situation for a long time without an answer. However, the more you play, the more you'll understand how to navigate around annoying soft locks and unwanted features.

Should change the title to "Get fucked " since that is what happens to you the whole game. Even with romance routes and attempts to stand up for yourself or escape unwanted encounters, your character will be abused in each way possible.

I played the mobile version for awhile but ended up dropping the game after one too many rollbacks of progress or dead ends with no escape. Big issue was how easily your progress towards education and paying rent would be side tracked by getting kidnapped or arrested.

Unless you a very liberal view in what level of torment another can inflict on you out of passion or love. You will feel like shit for trying to do anything in this game. So many NPCs are just rapist and extortionist. So many events force you to get bent or reload to avoid them. So many options seems to exist only to be failed at, in order to cement you as the weakling to be exploited.

Only reason this game isn't a one star is cause of the amount of options in what content you want to view, even if all that content is you getting abused by either men, women or every single creature with a pulse. I also loved some of the romance options, but couldn't invest time in them due to game mechanics forcing me to do time managment in a game where the content is things going wrong.

    10 out of 10, bravo

This game actually managed to utilize the limitless boundaries of text

With infinite ways of customizing and playing the game, this is one of the best text games out here

I don't regret playing this, cheer to the devs

Degrees of Lewdity defines what the sandbox experience means in this genre.

No written story. You write that yourself. A true sandbox with ungodly amounts of customisation and tailoring, which lets you make the experience suit you directly. I don't think I could say there is anything else such to this extent.

Degrees of Lewdity also manages to be more of a survival game than most you will find. Almost feels like a roguelike at first glance due to the zero handholding you get. You really have to figure out your way around the environment, know what to do, how to progress. It is masterful and manages to stay immersive till exhaustion.

You will also find the world teeming with content. Several named NPCs with storylines and several minor events you will find throughout the city.

The dev also tries to bring in as much of the requested content as they can, and they do deliver. Even if not everything, but generally stuff requested by the community does make it into the game one way or the other. I must applaud what Vrelnir does here. This is what a 5/5 experience looks like. Keep it up!

I really enjoyed this game. The text based gameplay allows for creativity between the developer and user. Even with that being said, it's mainly limited to text. So if you hate reading, this game may bore you.
This game keeps me coming back with its endless possibilities, a bunch of different paths you can take. As well as relations you can build. Unfortunately, depending on if you care, you can't necessarily just mind your own business. Evil will always be lurking around the corner and most of the time, you're being taken advantage of. The game does offer the ability to save whenever/wherever. There's tons of weird/different scenarios and even character development. Lots of fetishes/kinks come into play in your journey. Worth a try

This game is great if you like pointless struggle against the inevitable.

If you like progress and avoiding things via good choice, skill, preparation, or accepting grind to do so: Don't try it.
You will just get destroyed over and over and over.

If that is your thing, have fun.

This is a review of DoL Plus 0.4.4 (the mod includes a lot of stuff related to QoL, but even then it doesn't change the main game loop that much).

This game is amazing, but also falls short in some very essential stuff.

I appreciate the monstrous amount of content that it holds, but I also feel it's deeply flawed in the way it's implemented. It's one thing to expect some effort and repetition from the player when it comes to what's essentially an open-ended sandbox RPG, but the abhorrent grind just makes me want to jump off of a window.

I've tweaked like 20% of the whole game by manually editing the .html file (because I didn't want to get cut off from earning Feats, even if they actually do seem mostly useless) and the game is still WAY too slow. Mechanics like the Farm's Field Clearing are absolutely bonkers, it took me 20+ in-game days to clear ONE field out of NINE. And that's by focusing on it and forgetting about pretty much everything else.

If you factor in semi-obligatory stuff like attending School and paying Bailey, it can become an absolute shit-show to do most activities without having to be constantly bothered, so for a considerable part of my first and only playthrough I haven't even tried tackling most of what the game has to offer.

Honestly, I'd give this 5 stars if the progression systems (both to level up characteristics and other permanent things) were faster. Again, I know you can just cheat normally, but that's not how the game was designed to be played and on top of that you're penalized.

A very simplistic yet complex game, the design and artwork works quite good
the narrative and option are one of the most best point of this experience
quite difficult to play but if you put a little efforts you'll be rewarded

    This is on version 0.4.3.3.

Of all things, Degrees of Lewdity reminds me of AdventureQuest.

For those unfamiliar, AdventureQuest is a 2002 flash game loved then for its freeform engagement and multitude of questlines. In present times, AdventureQuest is known more for its inconsistent design choices, lack of player interaction, and massive number of bugs.

I believe you can see where I'm going with this.

Let's begin on the last part, because that's always a negative. Degrees of Lewdity is very buggy, regularly forgetting the actions of the player and triggering events that should be impossible in the current circumstances.

Most commonly this is seen within the clothing and sex system, where the way your clothing is removed or shifted is often illogical. The prime example I have of this is when my character's bra was removed, revealing their...jeans. What's funny about it is the left panel had it right, stating that my breasts were now exposed, but the text for the ongoing interaction simply could not figure it out and for the remainder of the scene no action taken made any sense.

During sex, penetration sometimes happens through clothing. Your pants can still be on fully (there are stages to removing garments), yet direct contact is still often stated to have happened.

Clothing is prone to changing colors at random and duplicating in your wardrobe. I owned one pair of white panties one night and the next morning I had three pairs of black. I had four copies of the starting sundress at one point. Something is broken there.

Shaking the paw of a dog out on a walk takes your "handholding virginity", but eating a woman out doesn't touch your "oral virginity".

The tutorial encounter states specifically that screaming for help will end the encounter for the tutorial. This isn't exactly true, the encounter always went on for 1-2 more turns afterwards, sometimes allowing the attacker to do something henious and starting me out with significant debuffs. This wasn't an issue in a previous version of the game I played a while ago, wherein the tutorial encounter was always ended immediately.

Sometimes the amount of money promised and given for tasks does not match with no commentary on why or any acknowledgment of it. For instance, when picking weeds on Danube Street you're promised $120, then paid $100 despite it stating that the employer was satisifed.

I want to make a special mention of the option to show exact percentages on chance-based actions as well, because it doesn't work. Some places it does, but at an estimate, it does not for around 85% of actions in the game.

In terms of the inconsistent design, let's talk skulduggery. Skulduggery as a stat generally determines your ability to perform dishonest actions. This includes crimes, lying, cheating on exams, etc. Yet, while skulduggery allows you to talk your way out of chemical manufacturing plants, crack safes, and even convince a doctor to drink their own poison, you know what it can't do? Allow you to steal your identification papers from the orphanage head so you can live freely. Nevermind the fact that withholding them is a crime, because Degrees of Lewdity operates on a whole different reality of what is allowed by anyone but the player.

Of course, if you want to work in the strip club, you need identification, so there's this whole quest to get a fake ID for it. But of course you can't just use that fake ID to rent an apartment or anything. That'd be ridiculous.

Speaking of crimes, the police have the omniscient ability to know at all times when a crime is committed - by you at least. Doesn't matter if there are no witnesses, doesn't matter if there is no trace, they know. Of course, the daily sexual assault you undergo is either not a crime or their all-seeing eye doesn't apply there.

You have social stats for the general opinions your teachers and student peers have of you. I'm not entirely sure what these are supposed to do, because for me they did almost nothing. I would assume that teachers considering me an "ideal student" would result in them siding with me in events. This didn't happen, and they would regularly assign me detention when I did not allow myself to be raped every class. Getting detention then lowers their opinion, so they shortly hated me. The stat for student opinions didn't seem to have much of an effect either, as I would assume that results in students having lower chances to assault you, or other students stepping in when you were assaulted. Neither of these were the case, and every day multiple students would continue to sexually assault me, despite the social menu stating the student body loved me. All I actually saw was the occasional flavortext that I was greeted in the hallway. From my experience, these stats either really do nothing or are largely nonfunctional.

There are actually a lot more examples I have in mind, but as this would be insufferably long if I went on, let me put it this way: Almost every ounce of content in the game is half-thought out, disjointed, and does not mesh together in any way. Everything is completely separate and nothing plays together.

Going back to my initial point, what about player interaction? Well, Degrees of Lewdity is all about getting raped. Yea, that's it. Sometimes by people on the bus, sometimes by the doctor, sometimes by the school principal, sometimes by a dog, sometimes by a spider, but it's all about the rape. To be fair to the game, it is initially upfront about this, stating when you open it that it is a game where you'll never be in the dominant position. Of course, that's actually a a bold-faced lie, you're sometimes, inconsistently, in the dominant position. Pass a girl in her locker at school? Feel free to forcefully grope her. Literally anything with Sydney? Time to act like the randomly generated NPC who just raped you three screens ago. Want to have sex with the character you're in a relationship with? Not that one actually, you can't do that. Yes, I'm serious, you cannot initiate sexual encounters with your own lover. If you want to have sex with them, you're going to wait till the RNG hits you with it. Don't worry, there are guides for triggering it on the wiki. Yes, I'm still serious. Oh, you can do NPC's homework for them and sort of act like you're about to assault them. That part is very weird and poorly written though, and you also can't actually do it, you just finish the homework and get paid $5.

This game desperately needs proactive player content because without it the player is stuck unable to directly engage with the game outside getting raped. Even something as simple as being able to pass a skulduggery check to pick the lock on Robin's door while they sleep, then molesting them.

So what about the content that is in the game? It's about 5 hours worth - stretched to 40 by several significant grinds and RNG. I would say about the first 10 hours of gameplay left me unable to do anything because I was stat locked. Every single one of the player's stats start as low as possible (with the exception of grades, which start at 'D' rather than 'F', at which point they have neither positive nor negative effects), and raising them is a lengthy chore.

Once you finally get to the content, it's a very limited amount. Sexual interactions are essentially generic text, where the player's ability to get off is dependant almost wholly on their ability to emotionally invest in the idea of the scenario, and not in any way what the content of the game provides. Now, for the dynamic sex system that is completely fine, good even (provided the bugs with clothing are addressed), but for static text it's very poor. Static text needs to be able to set the scene.

    Let's take, for instance,

Part of the issue with the content and associated grind is it isn't intended to be completable. The developer seems to view this game as a roguelite of sorts, intending you to complete a few objectives and restart with some NG+ bonuses those objectives unlocked. There are a lot of issues with the system, but let's start with this: The objectives and your ability to start with bonuses only relate to your most recently saved game. If you are keeping saves for certain events or just scenes to re-view (you know, as if it were a porn game), or are running multiple characters, the system will not work. Of course, the mere idea that in a game with a 35 hour grind players are intended to restart regularly is absurd, but here we are.

I have a lot of things I can say about Degrees of Lewdity that I cannot possibly fit in here. What I do like is the idea of an open sandbox where you can define yourself, meet characters, and take action. But Degrees of Lewdity really is not that kind of game. It's a buggy mess of inconsistent mechanics and contrived scenarios, where the player is not capable of deciding on a path due to a devotion against agency and any real variation in content. It is not a sandbox nor an RPG, leaving you with no roleplaying potential.

Degrees of Lewdity in its current state is honestly no more than a proof of concept at best. It's a bold claim, but I honestly believe it needs a complete overhaul and has a desperate need for design documentation.

Play if you're looking only for a temporary immersion into submission, and wanting for nothing else from the title.

    + Great Concept
    + Character Creation
    + Global NPC Gender/Genital/Fetish Settings

    = Dystopian Setting
    = Decent Art Style
    = Decent Animations
    = Decent Bestiality

    - You will be a submissive and like it
    - You cannot have revenge since you will 'always' lose
    - You deserve to be arrested for defending against rapists, why not
    - This is a garbage rape/sub simulator because there is no nuance to it
    - Clothing that breaks down way too fucking fast and gets caught on every single environmental hazard around you, why not
    - Janky Combat
    - Grindy Hell by design and I'm not talking about the skill system
    - You can probably add 2-4 pts to this score if you adore sub/rape gameplay

I was hoping for a sandbox, got a railroady rape conga line.

One example: I had my character go for a swim, and she got assaulted and stripped by squids, but was able to fight them off. Direct consequences. So far, so good.

On the way back, she was confronted by a pair of friendly lesbians. There wasn't a way to "decline" sex with them, so I tried fighting them off. Instead of getting discouraged or backing off, the friendly lesbians raped and beat my character and left her for dead.

Then, a pair of beachcombers found her bleeding on the beach, claimed they would help, and then sodomized her.

Shit like this happens repeatedly, more so if you resist at all. It seems there is an all around lack of agency in the game. Sandboxes are supposed to be all about player choice; Degrees of Lewdity seems to have only a single valid one: "Lie there and take it".

Do you want to get raped? That's about it.

There isn't a story, and the NPCs are so one-dimensional that you don't really care one way or the other when something happens to them.

The art is basic, and limited. Descriptions are exceedingly repetitive. Combat is boring (just spamming 1 until it's over).

It lets you toggle things like bestiality and tentacles, but most other content is locked.

So why am I giving it 4 stars? Because it has enough areas and scenarios to keep you entertained for a while. It's easily moddable, so you can get rid of the things that you don't like, or add decent art.

It can easily give you 20h of gameplay, and it has a lot of replayability value: being a sandbox, you can roleplay the character as you wish; play a complete slut or try to remain virgin.

This makes it stand out from the pile of HTML games, most of which are a collection of stolen porn and piss-poor writing, and even if there's many aspects of this game that could be done better, it provides a much better experience than most games out there.

    Pros:
    • Lots of variety in content in terms of events and fetishes
    • The community produced some really cool mods (modified instances). My favorite is probably the BEEESSS mod (improved sprites).
    • Speaking of mods, BEEESSS is fairly easy to apply yourself since it's just an image replacement. The code in the main game, while messy, is relatively easy to modify (the devs were pretty good about calling out the fragile areas you don't want to change carelessly). You'll want to be comfortable with version control to keep your mods compatible with the latest version as the game develops. Anyway, modding is pretty fun.
    • Settings options are pretty thorough. You can toggle specific fetishes.
    • The achievement system offers a lot of variety in new playthroughs.
    • Dev takes polls regularly and seems very open to feedback.
    Cons:
    • "Combat" and the general gameplay loop can get a bit tedious at times.
    • Dialogue is noticeably repetitive

Degrees of Lewdity has got to be my favorite sandbox title. There are loads of situations you character can get into, and the experience is highly customizable. There are mods and cheats as well if you're not fond of some aspects of the game.

Honestly, I spent a lot of hours into this game and it is great, your character can be heavily customized ranging from clothes to hairs and even tattoos, relationship also exist and pregnancy, but there's some love interest that are greatly lacking in content like the great hawk however there's also some that have a lore.

The only thing that I hate from this game is how tedious bailey's rent is, especially if you decide to pay for the rent of a certain love interest, aside from that I would greatly recommend this. I also recommend you to check the wiki, it would help you a lot!
