VN - Ren'Py - Demon Seed [v0.3] [Buff Game]

TLDR: Not a slowburn, yet promising story.

Although it is this dev's first foray into the VN scene, I was pleasantly surprised. 0.1 to 0.2, the writing improved dramatically, while 0.3 to 0.4 the writing got way better (I got the Patreon version right about here). I was impressed.

The prologue was well done in establishing the emotional constraints the main character faces when discussing their past. I would prefer not to spoil anything more.

As for the main love interests, please see below.

All in all, I give this VN a 3.9 out of 5.0 rating. Not bad to be honest, considering the fact that it is updated consistently over the last year, without delays and the developer is communicative.

Positives:

• Realistically written characters, minus the first childhood friend who seems way too into you, but that's story-bound.
• All women look realistic, thank you!
• I LOVE CARLO! Haha! Now that's a great character. I still listen to his theme song from time to time!
• The renders look far better with each passing update.
• Main Character looks good and I think it's the best MC I've ever seen in my life.
• Conversations are well written and don't draw out. Third only to Power Vacuum/Whoremonger.
• So far the sex scenes were great, especially with Cleo... Nice.
• Very little exposition that makes you wonder about the worldbuilding.
• The main person of interest in the story is very well written, but we get few scenes with him.
• Camera angle can be changed during scenes.
  

Negatives:

• Some scenes are way too dark.
• The LI's don't seem to have a life of their own outside the MC. Like, it feels that their whole life revolves around you as the main character.
• The relation with the girl at the beginning evolves far too fast, without any story component contributing to this. I don't want to spoil, but I feel like the main plot-point should be showcased more and feel like it actually influences the girl at the beginning.
• Too few scenes with the main story interest character. You'll see which one I mean.

This game is the only one alongside whoremonger, that I support on Patreon/Subscribestar at the moment. I may have high expectations of both devs, but they did actually show improvement and consistency across the year.

Thank you and please give me more of the story and if possible, have the girls be more independent?

You have a women with a horrible body and nasty tatoos absolutely throwing herself at you about 5 mins from the start, right after an inane test minigame which basically says choices are ignored. Quite an obsession with ultra closeups of MC's face and sometimes other faces.

2 mins later you watch a masturbation scene of another girl inexplicably in love with you. We see it as player even though MC is nowhere around. As bad as a dream sequence.

2 mins later you get an old dark skinned woman force herself on you while sad sack mc has no input.

The main renders are ok, they heavily rely on blurring out every single background. There's at least one crappy furry sequence that is way worse though and doesn't belong. As a plus, renders with wet characters are better than many of these games.

The writing is neutral, definitely not compelling but no engrish and typo's

Really good so far, love the characters and it seems to be building something interesting.
I would've liked a little more build up between MC and Alana, or at least have lerned it more of their relationship other then the MC doing some exposition, but it's not a huge deal.
Only big con is that there's not enough content, but that comes with time, gonna keep an eye on this one.

Enjoyable first update, a little quick to the naughty naughty but I am ok with that especially with the sexy LI of a "best friend". I do wish the first update was a little longer and gave us a better idea of what is up with the MC, hopefully we learn more about that soon.
Deff a VN I will be keeping an eye on as it was really enjoyable and I liked the different angles for the scenes, and I really enjoy the LI models while the MC model is ok, the face is a little derpy but not a real con in my book.

SUMMARY: Great start with interesting story and nice renders. Looking forward to more. Still going strong and has some good intrigue coupled with sexy scenes, this one stays a winner in my book.

1. Great looking models, MC that is masculine and love interests that are really nice looking.
2. Renders are great and animations while short are good.
3. Written well and dialogue is good.
4. Characters seem interesting and have seemingly well defined personalities. This also adds to their own unique relationship with the MC, which is not just a cookie cut from the others.
5. Decent amount of humour, nothing over the top, I like the whit.
6. Way the game is introduced, character name chosen etc is different and good, I like the idea and effort the dev went to with little things like that.
7. Plot is pretty intriguing and has some dark tones with some weird supernatural vibes going which is a interesting contrast to the everyday life of the MC.
8. Audio is generally good, lewd scenes are a little soft despite being maxed out on my end, still not bad.

1. One gripe I have is sometimes the scenes like the seen with Lisa in the bedroom, does give whiplash apart from the blue-balling, the way its written she clearly wants to have sex, she is strutting around and begging for it almost literally, but does a 180 in one frame...this gets annoying really fast, she already practically raped the MC in his sleep, why not go a little further here? These are lost opportunities and feel like cheap shots at blue balling, she doesn't need to put out but ffs PLEASE SIR CAN WE HAVE MORE!
2. Point and stats don't seem to feature, this is good and bad imo, its fine because there are few choices yet but bad because we don't know the impact in terms of stats. Also tags suggested pregnancy, is this always the case or something the player can choose? Does the name of the game suggest that knocking the woman up is the point? Just wondering out loud about the stats...
3. Not much variety in terms of kinks, though pregnancy may feature, and at that point I will adjust my rating again.
4. UI/UX experience is not bad, but I noticed the dialogue opacity setting missing and then the colour pallet for the dialogue box that indicates MC or whoever is speaking, this looks great aesthetically but the colour can be made a bit more obvious as I sometimes go on the colour and not the name and I felt Lisa and the MCs colours were a bit too similar, its not a big deal, its mostly an observation really.

OPINIONS, SUGGESTIONS & FINAL REMARKS:

NOTE: The following remarks are my personal opinions and thoughts, which may provide more context and could be useful to the developer. (Read them or don't)

• There are some times when I feel a few renders extra to flesh out a scene would be nice, the developer get by on the minimum though and does a great job of it. Though a few more could smooth over some of the edges to have the game flow nicely.
• The MC getting it on with the room mate all of a sudden, as the player "takes control" at this point in his life is a little jarring. I don't really mind, the sexy scenes are good but they kinda come out of left field a bit, sometimes a sense of time is nice...This is not a gripe, its just that the MC didnt show any interest in the roommate and in 24 hours of it they have sex...its a little sudden IMO. Again though for an adult game I do like it, but...
• I am impressed also by the way the developer tells the story, its slow, but slow in a very good way. That it just gets to a point where it may get too long but then something interesting happens that drives the main plot forward. This is a skill and can be done badly easily, but here I find it works well, so good job and please keep this going.
• The only small gripe I have is, that it could take a long time to complete this game at the pace its going, but its also something I would "suffer" to keep the quality. Still its a double edged sword and I hope the developer gets support and keeps pushing content out.

TLDR:

Overall, solid start and I hope to see regular updates and more of this kind of quality content. This AVN is still going strong, it has some really good features, good quality overall and I would highly recommend it to all and if possible to support the developer for their work, its shows.
