VN - Ren'Py - Depth's Revival 2 [Ep.2 P1] [Seacth]

While I wasn't fond of the way the first game originally ended, the dev does know his audience and generally delivers on it. I like what I see so far and hope for more. The particular fetish this game has is a rarity lately and the modeling is good! The characters seem pretty entertaining and as hamfisted as the story may be so far, its still a better premise than most games on this site, especially since the rise of the AI slop.

DR1 had a great cast of characters who you grow to care about and enjoy interacting with

Unfortunately, that's not the case here. Absolutely none of the characters, in particular the MC and the LIs, are likeable in any way

It's bad enough that you're stuck playing as "MC" for most of the game thus far because the guy's seemingly forgotten his own name, but he's also a passive loser

And for a harem game, absolutely none of the LIs seem to be particularly invested in MC. Why have a character who's supposedly an LI show up pregnant by someone else? In a game that's both a supposed harem game AND not an NTR game, what the hell was the logic behind that?

There are a bunch of grammatical errors and stilted English which just further aggravate the player's mood, mostly because the rest of the game is hard enough to enjoy

At this point I simply couldn't care less about most of the LIs, particularly about getting together with a pregnant one. HOW could they possibly turn this around, is my question? The future looks bleak. Especially with the aunt pregnant with another man's kid, the sister who wishes you dead and a pair of promiscuous LIs

I do pity MC's mother, as well as Lucy. Mom lost her husband because MC is an idiot. MC COULD HAVE been with Lucy, but he ran away to be with the girl who eventually dumped him and got him fired. Then he ruined her wedding day and she had to watch as her douchebag fiancee murdered two people. All because MC sucks

" DR2 takes the concept of the first game and improves it in all aspects " - it REALLY doesn't! As this MC, you're a complete and utter loser, the women hate or pity you, you get your ass kicked, your prospects are limited and you'll end up raising a kid that isn't yours

If you come from the prequel game you qre probably a harem/incest fan, and, if you are, then this game is a drug induced nightmare.
There are so many negatives in this game that it would take me hours to write it all, but I'll try to be as brief as possible.

1. The MC looks like a drug addict and a midget, the only one in his family who is short btw, because the women look like WNBA players for some reason. And it's not only the way he looks but how he acts, he is a wimp, a pathetic excuse of man, indecisive, cowardly even suicidal, he gets no respect because he doesn't deserve it and gets bullied, humiliated and bossed around even by his family members.

2. The LIs in this game are awful, even disgusting I'd say. First of all, the aunt is already pregnant, that is huge MISTAKE, the last thing incest fans want is for the family members to be knocked up by someone else. I know the previous game also had a pregnant woman, but she was a side LI that most people didn't care about.
Then the others are presented as whores, an ex, and a lesbian chick. That's the cast, its such a downgrade and so different from the prequel who had very good LIs.

I don't know why the dev wanted to do a 180 compared to DR1, I think if he wanted to do something so different maybe he shouldn't have made it the sequel, but alas, if you liked DR1, even with the bad ending it had, you will hate this one.

So characters suck, story sucks, MC sucks, LIs suck. The renders are just honey select, I'd say they are well done but not enough to earn it any stars since it is nothing special either. 1/5

Not a bad start, lets see how it goes further on. Story so far is... interesting but not top of the cake...

God, this game is garbage. The game went exactly as I expected: there's no story, all the female characters are dominant, sluts, lesbians, or tsundere. The male character is a submissive wimp who's also schizo. His split personality constantly tricks him. He's always dominated or treated like a baby by the women, and to top it all off, he even gets a knee in the balls. The first part was good, but the second part is absolute garbage. The first game where I'd rather avoid incest.
The women in the family are far too tall and their body proportions are off; they look unnatural. The developer says they have Amazon genes, but why are they all so pale? Amazons are brown, so his statement doesn't make sense. The main character acts like a small child compared to the female characters in the family. It's like a shota game. The main character has zero guts and no will of his own. He's like a robot waiting for commands because he doesn't know what to do otherwise. He hasn't done anything of his own volition; he's always been told what to do by the women. It's extremely annoying.
We're already getting hints that two of the four new characters are bi, and this is only the second update. I don't want any lesbian crap in a harem game. I want to fuck the women with the MC, not see them fucking each other. That just wastes rendering on things that could be used for the MC.

It is a nice game if you like harem, pregnancy, and incest. I honestly dont get why people hate this game and the dev so much. Part I was at least fully developed and released for free. It is already more than 99 percent of devs here can achieve. I kinda find funny that ppl hate the first part but still downloaded and played this game and even wasted some time to write a negative review. Maybe it says that the game is actually not that bad. To be fair, the story is shit, and the dev is probably not native in english. But the game has good graphics, understandable story, and tons of hot kinky scenes. What else do you need from a porno game?

Can't wait for more! Chapter one was wild and I can't wait to see what else you have cooking up. I'd love more content now, but I am content to wait for quality-crafted content. Depth's Revival 2 [Ep.1]

What is this s#$%? After playing DP1 (still haven't finished), I've tried this one... and was utterly, unabashedly dissapointed. It's s$@%! Pure garbo, except for the models, but they even look the sameish. """Story"""? BAH!
What an utter disappointment.\ Don't touch this, stay away. Waste your time somewhere else, it will be at least more productive and entertaining.

Okay, so this story is a mess. The main character is a total disaster, with a design that doesn't fit his age at all and a personality that goes nowhere. The plot is a nonsensical jumble, it moves forward without any logic and feels super forced. The guy just stands there watching everything happen, he doesn't do anything on his own, and that makes the story feel weak. Even though the initial idea looks good, the execution is terrible and leaves you with a bitter taste. In the end, it gets 2.5 out of 5 stars.

well, bad news for you, that was the moment Dev could no longer rein in his edgy side and decided to let his freak fly.

The new game starts with the same tone as the last game ended.

MC is a guy in his early twenties stuck in the body of an 11 year old prepubescent boy.
He loses all in life, his gf leaves him, he gets fired from his job,
tries to kill himself and botches even this. Truly the picture of pure incompetence.

Then he sees his uncle getting shot, and his dad gets shot while saving the MC.

It is worth noting that while MC is a dwarf, all women in his family are giants. So we will probably learn down the line that MC is adopted.

Very good demo so far. One of the few ren'py games where I don't just skip to get to the h-scenes, was genuinely enticed by the story. Looking forward to how the sory develops, and the renders and animations are high quality.

Great introduction/ demo that clearly demonstrates the type of game this is and will be.
With the focus being on incest, pregnancy and harem as the MC abandons his family for life in the big city, four years of that result in a near successful suicide attempt, clearly showing that it is not a lie for him. Resulting in returning to his family and trying to prevent the love of his life (his cousin)from getting married.
The fact that made me read everything to the end without skipping anything and being disappointed that this ended and wanting more, I give this a five star as I find the characters lovable, attractive and interesting. If this changes in future updates and if I lose interest, I will update this review, but so far I'm hooked.

PROS
+ Visually the game looks kind of good, we have animations for sex scenes, and women looks kind of good as well.

CONS
- Story is straight up terribly, and poorly-written. To summarize; story starts with MC talking about wanting her girlfriend meeting up with his parents, talks about going back the town he grow up, she hestitates, and next morning leaves him with a note, and next day MC loses his job since she is the daugher of COO of the company MC working for, and just like that his 4 years of effort in his relationship, and the company goes into the trash, and MC decides to hang himself. What's worse is... He even fails to hang himself, and just lands on his face, lose consequenses, and have a talk with his subconscious in his mind, big titty girl with hetoronemia eyes, she says he always desired his own family in a sexual/romantical way, and she should go back his town, he hestitas because back in day he walked away from his wedding with his cousin, and his uncle was angry enough to kill him, but still decides to go back, in fact when he comes back he learns in the literal same day she is getting married, he wents there, tries to stop the marriage, the guy she is gonna get married gets angry learning she never loved him, and loves to MC, take his gun and kills his own father, then proceeds to kill the MC, but his father saves him, and dies.. Seriously what kind of writing is this? It fails almost at every aspect, makes no sense, and soo all over the place, it's almost impressive someone managing to write a poorly-written story like this, it takes serious effort to manage fail this bad.
- MC's design is seriousy concerning, he is 22 years old man, yet his design is not suitable for that at all. His face looks too old, weird, and kind of ugly for no reason, especially considering his age (he is just 22 years old) it makes no sense at all he is looking like that. And again for no reason, and not suitable to his age, or face, at all his body design is like a 13 years old kid, he looks weak, and he is quite short, he gets handled, carried, etc, by people like her mother just to show how short, small, he is, etc, as well, which is seriously stupid. And considering almost everyone in his family is tall AF, especially his mother, sisters, etc, it makes literally no sense he is being that short, and small either.
- Darkish/Brown nipples/aoreles are looking ugly, more pinkish, even straight up pink ones would be way better.
- Previous/Next buttons are invisible at the save/load screen, they work, but you can't see them.

VERDICT
it's not worth playing, if it had good amount of content I would say maybe worth letting out some steam, but it's not even good for that, yet at least...

well, we´re off to a strong start.
long story short: if you are the special kind of connoisseur that rly wants to expand his family... by means of using his OWN family to do so, this game was made for you.
models look good and what limited animations we have so far is decend.
also noticeable is that def is rly trying to improve on his previous game both in visual and story department. putting far more emphasis onto the aspect of family relations and overall creating an interresting story, not just a mindless fuckfest.
i believe exspecially in a time like this, a def who is not scared and goes all in on the taboo should be applaud and encouraged.

(Review of Ep. 1)

Strange that nobody has reviewed this yet... Oh well, here we go.

If you played the original DR1 and liked it, here we have the same basic principle with the MC again talking to, and being "helped" to put his life in order by his subconscious turned into a girl. However, the characters are all different and except for a minor reference along this first chapter, there's little or no relation with the original story or characters. So far so good, however both the MC and the characters in general feel less interesting and sexy than those in the original game.

This could be due to the limited animations so far (there's exactly one sex scene right now, to be exact), the very low variety in poses and the general feeling that this is a demo to gauge whether this story should be developed any further. The MC himself could be replaced with a stick and he would be just as interesting if not more.

The end of this first episode is probably the best part because it does an acceptable job staging a dramatic scene, even if the writing until that point isn't stellar, grammar mistakes aside. Technically the very few animations so far are better than those in DR1 in terms of smoothness, but it's too soon to draw any conclusions in that regard. The renders are simply acceptable, we have the mandatory huge rack from every adult female (including grandma) and face blushing is overdone, I mean, like with every Japanese looking VN out there but turning up a couple of extra notches just because.

For now I'd say this is moderately interesting, but it needs improvement in almost every way. I liked the tune in the main menu though.
