I am creating a new version of the game Alice Awakening called Alice Awakening Reborn. This edition will feature an engaging story and its own playable manga. Currently, the Patreon has attracted 24 members, but I am seeking a production team as the game is being developed by only two people. If you are interested, please message me. We are in need of artists, animators, and programmers - the more help, the better. Those who contribute will receive a share of the funds raised through Patreon, with the majority being allocated to the game and manga production. test 2.jpg

Here is the Patreon for evidence of the game's development.

Could you clarify your involvement / relationship with the "original" game Alice Awakening?
Could you expand on what you mean by "playable manga"? It sounds to me you are developing two projects, a "game" and a linear story visual novel (the "playable manga") or am I misunderstanding your description...?
How many people are already involved in your project?
What is your role in the project? (If you are the lead - or at least the person in charge of the patreon as it seems - are you capable of paying an artist's share through crypto?)
I am not sure if the art you posted is from the "original" game or from your project - is the style of your sprites / CGs already set in stone / dictated by your lead artist ... or is it perhaps still subject to change?

I am interested to join as an artist but I am afraid I might not be a perfect fit for two reasons. First I must insist on being paid in crypto, second I am (re-)focusing *heavily* on developing my fundamentals ie gesture, anatomy, proportions, exaggerations etc and my actual polished, rendered, full color stuff is lagging behind my simple sketch art.
I have attached a few of my sketches for your immediate judgement, if you would like to see more I would prefer to share more of my stuff in private messages instead of publicly.

In any case, good luck with your project!

Alright, there are numerous questions to address, so let's start with the first one. My connection with the original creator has evolved from being a fan to becoming a friend. Initially, I expressed interest in the game's development, but the creator informed me that progress was slow due to personal challenges, which I won't disclose here. I offered assistance to expedite updates, and after agreeing to collaborate, the creator eventually entrusted me to take over the game entirely. In short, the main game developer announced to the community that I am now the lead modder. Consequently, the game is now under my direction. As I handle various aspects such as audio engineering, actual development, story writing, and now manage a Patreon, it's evident that I am the new lead and the creator of the new [Variation]. It's important to clarify that I did not create the original game or introduce any new content yet. However, if you notice any new elements in the game, chances are I had a hand in it. In essence, I am continuing the game, but due to the original creator's absence, the game is undergoing a complete remake. Regarding the "Playable Manga," I am currently crafting a manga based on the game's story. Once the new game is released, it will be solely based on the manga. In this sense, the manga becomes the game, making the events of the manga playable. At present, I am unable to offer payment. I, along with my lead artist, who is collaborating on the manga, are being supported through Patreon. This is why I initiated the Patreon—to fund development. The two of us are the sole contributors to the game, working voluntarily out of our love for the project and our desire to see it flourish. I have already composed two chapters of the manga and am currently continuing its development. The manga plays a crucial role in the game's progress; thus, it will be released first to attract supporters on Patreon and generate income. The funds we receive will be allocated to the next phase, which involves creating the game based on the manga. The manga serves as the blueprint for the main story of Alice Awakening Reborn, explaining the current events of the game with a few new details, allowing me to progress the storyline. Although there was an existing story for the game, we have taken on the responsibility of continuing it in the absence of the original developer. Therefore, we are reworking and integrating the original story into our narrative, making slight alterations to provide an exciting experience for the fans. I understand if you are hesitant to work without compensation—frankly, I share the same sentiment. However, if you choose to contribute to the game's development, rest assured that you will eventually be compensated. The fan base for this game already exists; our goal is to deliver what they desire. Trust me, I am well aware of the expectations surrounding this game.

Reading through that I get the feeling you are taking my question about the relationship with the "original" game more seriously than I was lol. In case I came off as mistrusting allow me to clarify, I was merely curious about how the overlap between these "two" games might shape up. Conflict or perhaps even mutual cross-pollination... I have heard of Alice Awakening but was not aware that their development has stopped. I guess this is nice to know, even for other people lurking here.

Concerning payment - not to blow sugar up your ass - but once again it feels you are coming from a more pessimistic stand point than I expected. I think offering a share with a patreon that is *already running* is better than 90% of the usual projects here. No worries on that front from me and I would wager many others would agree.

EDIT
If you think it is worth talking more about my possible involvement please contact me on "session". It is a privacy focused messager not unlike telegram, whatsapp etc. (it does not require signing up or a phone number, it works on desktop as well)
My session ID is

[redacted]

And if you dont want to use that messaging app I have a mastodon account, I can give you my profile name in private through session. No particular reason for my secrecy aside from a general wish to stay low-profile as a porn artist.

I can't pay you at the moment because I don't earn enough to do so. However, This game will take off and once it does, you will receive payment. In reality, if you join my team, you will be the co-artist for the manga. I will send you the comic and you will be responsible for drawing the line art, while my lead artist will handle the rest. I will then make a few adjustments and take care of the publishing and other tasks. I forgot to mention that I also handle the games animations.

Nice to see Alice Awakening being continued as I thought it was a good game.

Is the game currently being developed? and if so what engine is being used?
I'm a decent programmer but am terrible at anything artistic so I can't help out if only the manga is being worked on right now.

Also will you be using the original game as a base and adding to it? or creating a new game from scratch?

my discord is maxxm2003 if you would prefer to message me on there

Forgive me I dont understand... I was under the impression that you are offering a revenue share from that patreon you posted, right?
Because your last message makes it sound like there is no payment until some vague point in the future. ("when the game takes off", while in my opinion having a running patreon is already a huge milestone)

What does your payment look like?
When does that payment start?
Are you able and willing to pay somebody's share through crypto?

Concerning the work itself, I am glad you mention linework. Lines is among the fundamentals I am trying to get better at and have actually something to show for.

I'm currently unable to pay you as I don't have enough funds to compensate anyone, including myself. The Patreon earnings are allocated for the individuals currently involved in the game's development. While I understand your desire for immediate compensation, it's important to consider that I have to cover payments for not only you and others, but also for third parties. You might argue that this is a personal issue, and you'd be correct. However, why pass up an opportunity like this, especially with your level of skill? Eventually, you will receive payment, recognition, and valuable experience. Additionally, you'll be able to claim involvement in creating one of the best hentai games of all time. Do you truly want to reject this opportunity? How about this: join us for a while to observe our processes and gain an understanding of our work before making a decision. If we do find someone willing to contribute for free, like everyone else on the project, including myself, and the game becomes successful, it will be incredibly challenging to collaborate with us later. At that point, you and others would be requesting or even pleading to work on it. You would then have to compete with other artists who are equally skilled or even better than you. Furthermore, the likelihood of me considering you as a developer would be around 25%, as I had approached you when we were struggling to gain attention, and you declined.

Your patreon earns money. It might not be "enough" but it is accumulating money.
>The Patreon earnings are allocated for the individuals currently involved in the game's development.
So there are people being paid from your patreon earnings, but if I were to joing your team, I would be excluded from receiving some percentage share?
>it's important to consider that I have to cover payments for not only you and others, but also for third parties.

I am happy with a share of the patreon because I actually think this game has more potential than the average project here.

In summary:
You have a patreon up and running. You have the recognition of an already successful predecessor game. Your patreon earnings go to paying numerous individuals that work on your project, therefore you cannot pay an artist. The artist should work for free, because the numerous people on your project are also working for free. The artist should consider himself lucky to become part of one of the "best hentai games of all time" in its early stage. The artist should consider this lucky, an opportunity, a source for recognition and experience. If the artist refuses, he will not be considered when the artist comes back, "pleading" to work on it after the game has become successful.

Aside from this shallow attempt at manipulating me, (which is more insulting because of how little effort you put in not necessarily that you tried to trick me at all) you have dodged my question about payment through crypto.

I will risk my eternal regret not having participated in one of the best hentai games of all time and say, get fucked.

I find your perspective interesting, as it doesn't quite align with what I expressed. I mentioned that this game holds potential. I believe turning down such an opportunity isn't wise, as it offers payment and recognition. Many artists tend to have a closed-off mindset, refusing to work without payment, only to regret their decision when the project succeeds. I simply don't want to see a talented artist like yourself make a regrettable choice. I also didn't dodge your question; I stated that I'm unable to pay you due to the current circumstances. However, it's okay if you choose not to work with us. I will eventually find someone, but I hope you'll consider this moment if the game succeeds. My intention was never to offend, but rather to address the common issue of pride within artists' mindsets. Till next time I hope you do well with your art I wish you the best of luck. (y)

Also Side note know ones being paid including me. That's a future prophecy, they will be paid when the patreon makes enough, I'm sorry if I explained that poorly.
