I avoided this game for a while because the style of the artwork just didn't draw me in, despite it being obviously high quality and created with talent. When I did eventually try it out, I quickly got used to the characters and I started enjoying the art a lot. The UI and other graphics all follow a similar vibe thematically that helps bring across a very polished experience.
The story is pretty interesting, but it relies heavily on mystery. As of R11 it is not even close to being finished, which is frustrating to me because there are hours of narrative here with no real explanation as to what the hell is happening on this island and certainly no resolution. Questions pile up throughout the course of what is currently available in the game, and very few answers are forthcoming. I do hope these questions are answered and the plot is tied up neatly, because I believe the story has a lot of potential, but as of right now it just... ends. Not really even on a cliffhanger, the story threads just stop after a certain point with a notification that you have reached the end of the current build. So you're left with a bunch of different plot threads, all of them building up towards something potentially cool but... too bad. You're gonna have to wait for more.
Obviously this is to be expected with any kind of work in progress, but it felt a bit different this time. I really can not recommend this game to anyone who expects a completed or even a satisfying story. It's like picking up a good novel but half of the pages are blank. I don't fault the author or what's already in the book, I just think it's probably better to wait until the full experience is ready.
Gameplay wise, it's standard point and click with a semi open world. Thankfully there are hints (both in the dialogue and in the UI), and a quest log that helps prevent getting stuck with no idea of what to do. It's serviceable but not great. The UI and overall atmosphere of the game makes it feel fancier and more engaging than it actually is. I don't fault people for not enjoying the gameplay because it can definitely be a clickfest with no real substance, but I didn't mind it too much. There is certainly worse out there in that regard.
There's a dice minigame that eventually pops up, and I thought that was interesting. I always like minigames if they're done well. This one was pretty good but you're almost immediately barred from playing it due to the "trade system" in the game. You can't just use a currency, you have to actually barter with items. This definitely fits with the setting but again... it's not finished.
I already mentioned why I don't recommend the story at this point, but it has to be mentioned that the character building is pretty decent. Everyone feels unique, multi-layered and like they're hiding secrets, which is good but yet again it relies on more mysteries that just have not been explained yet.
There are some animations that pop up over the course of the game, including in the h-scenes, but they're a bit too sparse or simple for my liking. The story animations far outmatch any sort of sex animation. However, because the story is well made, the sex generally feels like it's advancing the plot or at least immersive because of the character development. Narrative definitely comes before the lewdness, don't play this expecting otherwise.
I can't not recommend this game. It's a good game for sure. But I feel like this is the type of story that has to finish being created before it can really be told, otherwise nothing but frustration and confusion awaits the player.
Worth it if you're okay with a half baked story and want to see it eventually be completed (who knows how long that will take...). Otherwise, avoid for now but keep an eye on it.
