dns for blocked sites

anyone know a dns server address for accessing blocked sites? using a vpn is over complicated and my pc isn't really private.
the google dns
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
doesn't work for me

Use Tor.
Or even Tails (Tor on a boot-able Linux USB stick) depending how not-private your computer is.
