As a female-MC corruption enjoyer, I'd say my experience with Japanese games has been:
90% derivative rape-filled shovelware with shit writing and shit localization.
7% games with an interesting premise and production values, but poor localization (either MTL, Engrish or just too literal including really weird and awkward phrases) and too much rape. E.g. Sol Rui -after mini-.
3% Well-written, well-localized and decent production values. Though there's still some rape, because Japan. E.g. Curse of Kubel, Makina.
The censorship also bothers me, though thankfully Kagura's releases remove it.

They're the only thing i'll play off of here, occasionally i'll play something that isn't japanese but not typically. If it weren't for censorship and the rampant use of a single pass of MTL to translate them they would be a lot better though.
