As someone already said, porn in general reached it peak WAYY back in the day and has since just never been able to recapture that same mainstream level of popularity. I can only speak as someone in the US, but I think porn is in a pretty stable place right now (even though politicians are STILL tryna crack down on it like they not its main customers) but we do live in an age where most everyone is comfortable talking/joking about the porn they watch/play/read rather than just the mere mention of someone enjoying it being treated as if they're the devil incarnate. Porn in all forms has existed since media has existed, porn makes more money than quite a few industries that would surprise you (or not...probably not). At no point has it ever broken into main stream. It's actually getting worse currently due to the increasing difficulty in getting the payors to actually pay sites that have porn.
