the game engine seems to be a fork of Godot, called "Redot". It's main feature seems to be that it's red, rather than Godot's blue.
That's it.

(as opposed to changing the engine?????). There's also mention of Godot "going woke"??????????????????
But eventually it seems like they added Visual Scripting support, so maybe that's why the dev chose this instead of regular Godot. Dunno why the creators of Redot decided to create their own version of Godot for that, since Godot supports extensions to the engine (and that's the reason why Godot hasn't done this already, because anything they don't add, you can make yourself through GDExtension) nevermind, they explicitly removed it. So they basically just created the fork because they "disagreed with Godot's team" (and people stepped in to say Godot is extremely woke and DEI and snowflakes, as if they understand what those words mean other than being a dogwhistle).
Also the inability to use the mouse is entirely the dev's fault, not the engine's fault. They decided to make it in Godot (sorry,
Redot) instead of RenPy
