Ren'Py - Dragon Incarnate [v0.1.2a] [Agent Nova]

  1. 4.00 star(s)

    Manoftheworld

A solid adventure game, that should only get better if developed with care.
In a game like this it's important to not overcomplicate, things like the worldbuilding and game mechanics need to be simple enough to not feel like a chore, and so far I like what I'm seeing, even the sandbox is simple enough to not get in the way of overall enjoyment of the game.
The writing is good and the characters are mostly written well (save one catgirl who sticks out like a sore thumb even in a supernatural game like this).
Sometimes it's easy to read the potential of a game, and this game promises an interesting time, so I'll keep an eye out for it.

SUMMARY: Not bad, but really not enough to even rate, let alone enjoy it, more a template of a AVN at the moment.

PROS: (y)- See my opinions section for details.
    1. Really nice looking models.
    2. Ability to change MC to male female and even futa if desired.
    3. Plot and setting are not bad actually.
    4. Writing and structure are good and reads well.
    5. Animation and general render quality is fairly good also.
    6. Kinks like pregnancy are present and not shied away from.
CONS: (n)- See my opinions section for details.
    1. Very short, not much content and quests are not fleshed out or very interesting. Some can't even be completed.
    2. Some dialogue like the cat-burglar is something silly and nonsensical.
    3. Not much going on to really even rate or get a firm grasp of whats going on at all.
    4. Quest are silly and short and really have no substance.
    5. Pregnancy is a kink but not present in current game version as its not been implemented.
    6. Interactions with any LIs are VERY limited and really nothing much here to play.
    7. No sounds, lewd, ambient or interactive at all, which is a damn shame.
    8. Animations, the one that there is is good, but short, has no angles or anything really remarkable to it save its quality looks good.
    9. I am not a fan of sandbox, but this seems OKish enough.
OPINIONS, SUGGESTIONS & FINAL REMARKS: :coffee:

NOTE: The following remarks are my personal opinions and thoughts, which may provide more context and could be useful to the developer. (Read them or don't)
    • AVN mostly consists of a framework now and not much actual content to really play and enjoy IMO.
    • I detest sandbox most of the time, but as long as no grinding is involved that slows the player down or locks you out of content until certain conditions are met I am fine enough to entertain it. This AVN seems ok so far, but its too early to give a clear indication.
    • Per above point, sandbox forces the player to click all option again again in the hope that there is new content in each update, where normal AVN i.e. novel type flow linear and usually don't have dead ends and "under development" Hence why I say this is more framework than anything else. Its also the reason I shy away from sandbox games, as they only really start getting good when they almost near the end where you can play until a line of content is complete, but throughout you often run into dead ends or slow progression because the developer is spread out too far.
    TLDR:

Not bad, looks good and has some decent potential, but not much here to enjoy really and I would opt to wait for a few updates before trying again. Something tells me it will take a good long time to develop as quests and the main plot will spread development out probably more in a branching style than linear one, so progression could be very slow.

I will keep an eye on this one, but there isn't enough here to give much of a review, I will however update it as it develops. Good luck dev.
