Dream Academy 0.2.0 Changelog and showcase
Hey everyone,

I’m Mantis, and I’ve just started working on my first adult game - Dream Academy.
It’s still in the early stages (writing, planning, prototyping – all the slow but important stuff), but I wanted to share the concept and see if it resonates with anyone here.
What’s the game about?
You’ll play as a man who used to have it all figured out – a respected university lecturer with structure, security, and a future.
Then one personal mistake changed everything.
No drama. No headlines. Just a quiet exit that cost him his job, his reputation, and his direction in life.

He leaves it all behind and ends up in a small, remote village – far from the world that shut its doors on him.
There, he starts over. Quietly.
Helping out. Watching. Listening.
Rebuilding, piece by piece.

But even in the quietest places, people want things – connection, power, distraction.
And sometimes, getting involved means more than you expected.

That’s where Dream Academy begins.
A grounded life sim for adults, not about seduction mechanics or reward counters, but about human connection, consequences, and rebuilding from the ground up.

No “+10 affection” popups. No busywork. Just people living their lives.
And your challenge is to become part of that world again.

Tech goals & features

From day one, this project is being built around flexibility, privacy, and control.

The game is being developed in Java using the Spring Framework, which means:
  • ️ You’ll be able to run the game as your own private server, locally on any computer.
  • You’ll be able to play it from any device in your home (phone, tablet, PC – anything with a browser).
  • No online logins. No accounts. Your game, your space, your rules.
What else is planned?
  • A built-in mod manager for easy installation and removal of community content.
  • Plugin-based architecture – so adding characters, locations, or events will be possible without rewriting the core.
  • Save sharing across devices – start on your PC, continue on your tablet.
The goal is to create a game that’s not only immersive, but also yours to shape.

Final words

This project is still in its earliest stages, so I want to be completely upfront:

Please don’t support me financially right now.
There’s no playable build yet, and I don’t believe in asking for support until there’s something real to show you.

I’m sharing this post simply to open a window into the process – to start showing ideas, progress, and the direction I’m aiming for.
If the time comes where it makes sense to support the project, I’ll let you know. Until then, just following along or dropping a comment already means a lot.

If you want to stay updated, I’ll be posting dev logs here and also over at:

Thanks so much for reading,
— Mantis
