Ren'Py - Completed - Dreaming of Dana [v0.099] [PTOLEMY]

This game keeps you guessing and has lots of plot twists. The game is well written and the story is interesting and engaging. This is one of my favorite games on this site and I highly recommend it.

A piece of a master (I prefer it my way )!

I admit, I was a little disappointed after finally playing endgame. I tried Dana-only path first ... there wasn't the magic I expected and had hoped for. My hopes deceived I chose Andrea's route. What a change of quality
Really great, entertaining and has some of the magic moments I'd liked most in this game.

Replaying it from the start, I could recognize some flaws more easily than before.
Some events are repetitive and story-breaking (e.g. Danas evening visits after you're a couple).
Some events are not shown at all, if you're unlucky (e.g. the Lex Luthor and Lois Lane scene or the one playing basketball with the collegues and uncle Fester - two really good scenes)
And it seems there're lose ends in side stories (but maybe I just missed some scenes not triggered).
And there some bugs (e.g. some scenes not triggered in correct order --> saw the scene where Jessica beat up Dana's ex-fiancee right before choosing the beard for Dana+MC by chance. And some misspellings, especially in late game).
It's important to work at afternoon to trigger alot of scenes, instead of collecting useless affection points with Andrea xD.


But still ... there's the classic story, a forbidden love Shakespeare could have written. Some really awesome and outstanding dialogues. And alot of effort to include side stories in main story that offer player choices.
Reading Ptolemy's regular update messages, knowing that he learned alot since start of DoDana and he lost interested more and more over last month, let me assume this game could be even better than it is.
It was fun, provided alot of joy and excitement ... and now, it's over :.)

It will be hard for Ptolemy to create another game that can entertain me that much (DoDana is still my 2nd fav game) - especially since I don't like sandbox style games.
But I'm not of little faith (when it comes to this kind of stuff ^^ ) ... I'm waiting with bathed breath for another piece of this master.

Im not a fan of grind in adult games and this one is not the exception. Gotta admit that the relationships between the MC and the other characters are pretty cool and the sex scenes are pretty hot, but when you make me work that hard for a 2 or 3 still images, im gonna burn out pretty quick. Good game thats ruined for me because of the grind.

I want to praise the developer of this game here for creating a great game. In my opinion, story is great and so are the renders. Most of all, Dana is perfect, no over sized boobs or anything, just perfect. Even Maria and Jessica can't diminish the greatness of this game. They (their looks and personalities, especially) are the only downside of this game for me.

It's wonderful storyline I love it especially the incest relationships with the sister especially the family bonding relationship with Andrea I don't wanna spoil anyone who would read my review but that's all I could spoil but besides that, writing was actually good there are not too many grammatical errors and characters they're all interesting. Worth a try it's not like what you'll think where all the characters have to get corrupted and make themselves degraded well as long as you won't think about that but it's not all about sex which is really good just because this site is all about sex doesn't mean it has to be full of games about just sex without a real plot to go with the game it's just a fapping game that's why I recommend this at least because of the incest relationship with Dana it's not something that you'll have to make her a slut to fuck you it's completely optional! I've made my statement and I would recommend the game.

Update: The storyline is actually done already it has two endings. (I think)

Little actual story going on, and days are a grind with little sense of things progressing. You go on infinite dates, lunches and whatnot to get love numbers to go up and by number x you are allowed to do the next thing.
Graphics are decent, but MC is horrible and the girls are very much stereotypes. Not a fan.

Why this game is so popular is a mystery.

Story-line 3 / 10 - Standard porn game "i want to fuck my sister but also want to fuck everyone else" BDSM content feels like it was forced in at the last minute. (no pun intended) - far too many times things are mentioned or thrown in and the player is just expected to take it on face value.

Pacing 4/10 - Pretty much fuck any character within 3 days except sister who takes a bit longer

Renders 2 / 10 - Characters composited onto scenery with truly awful camera angles. Inconsistent lighting with random headlights in some shots. Even toward the end where Ptolemy has apparently "learned" about rendering still a lot left to be desired.

Character design 4 / 10 - "out of the box" Daz 3d figure used for main female character the rest look like cartoons.

Overall - Not a great game. Based on the character development and dialogue you could be forgiven for questioning whether Ptolemy has ever met a real human woman.

The following review is based off my personal experience with playing this Game/Visual Novel... I try to be as brutally honest and detailed as I can, and these are my own opinions and thoughts, from one or more play throughs...

(12/01/2017 - Original Review - v0.088)

I have to say, even though the game breaks many taboo's, I really loved the story...

I went the Andrea route and the love story between the characters was excellent... The father bit was a bit saddening, but overall the ending was happy, and i loved how all the loose ends got tied up, twas great work by the authors...

The game did get a little repetitive now and then in the early stages (thank goodness for the skip button), but having the random events was an awesome idea and worthy of praise compared to many other exotic visual novels out there...

I actually found myself smiling and a bit teary eyed at the end, and not because of the sex scenes... Don't get me wrong, the sex scenes are a plenty, but the story played out so perfectly and was, for me, the highlight of the whole thing... The sex scenes became a side bonus, rather than the primary focus of enjoyment for me... Bravo to the authors...

I also found the quality and amount of visuals matched the story perfectly... Bravo...


(03/28/2018 - Review Update - v0.099)

Now that I've completed all the story lines and tried out various combinations, I figured it was time for a more thorough review... This visual novel/game definitely includes the overused Family Sex stuff...

The visuals of the characters are pretty darn good... The backdrops are a mixture of some unique/creative ones, along with some we've all seen dozens of times before in other VN/Games... The UI during grind moments is very easy to figure out and use, and even includes a stats menu... The navigation map is easy as well...

The script is pretty spot on, with hardly any spelling/grammar errors... The plot revolves around a male protagonist who is a bit of a playboy, but he ends up working for his fathers company in close proximity to his sister who also works there... I'm not going to go into great detail about all that occurs in this VN/Game, because there is a lot of content, but I will touch on a few things... The overall premise of this VN/Game is working on building a sexual relationship with the protagonist and his sister, along with some other optional main characters and side characters...

The basic game play mechanics are a mix of traditional visual novel along side a stat grind mechanic as well... The game days are broken down into segments, with various locations to visit (more open up over time), as well as locations at the work place... There are 4 main story lines which I'll briefly go over later... All 4 story lines will involve the protagonist and his sister Dana for their entirety... As you build stats at work and around the city, along with raising relationship status with various primary characters, new content will open up... At a given moment you will reach certain critical stages...

The first stage will involve a weekend with Dana and the Protagonist... The next major stage will be a game changer, since it will involve a choice (based on prior content and choices) as to which of the 4 story lines you will then focus on... Leaving the other 3 behind... I will not go into detail about how to open up all 4 choices, because it is a slightly complicated process... I would highly recommend finding a walkthrough or guide... They will not go over every choice, but they will guide you in the right directions to ensure you open as much content as possible for those critical stages... It is up to you on how you actually go about story choices that don't effect the critical stages...

I'll briefly touch on the 4 main story lines... Dana is in all 4, but only certain other characters are also involved with each story line as well... It's at the 2nd critical stage where the protagonist goes on another weekend excursion with Dana that he can invite either Andrea, or Jessica, or Maria and her husband... Or you can just take Dana by herself... Of the 4 choices, the Dana only line is very short, rather vanilla, and a bit bland... The other choices play out just like you think they would based on the characters invites...

Jessica is normally a dominating lesbian, but becomes bi-sexual with the protagonist and Dana, mostly (at least through most of the game) because she loves Dana and wants to make her happy even if includes having the protagonist along for the ride... I'll not go further into that... Maria and her husband are swingers and highly into multiple sexual partners... You can choose to allow or disallow the husband to be sexual with Dana... Then there is the secretary, Andrea... She is highly sexual, but also the product of a bad father... She is very much a submissive with daddy issues, and is really in need of some sort of parental type figures in her life to make her happy... Not the slave/master type submissive, but a loving/caring submissive...

Due to the grind, you will see a lot of repetition and it will take some time to play through it... But the developers were clever enough to work in random events, side stories, and lots of options for doing things... Sometimes variation may pop up on certain events, depending on progression as well... Cheating in stats may cause you to miss content, so be aware... And there is a lot of content in this VN/Game... Stats do not need to be insanely high to move the stages along either, so don't think you need scores of like 100+ in each relationship stat... Sometimes certain events also need to be completed to move the main story along, so stats alone are not the only gate...

Of the 4 main story lines, the one I enjoyed the most was the one with Andrea, which I mentioned before... It is the more mature, romantic, loving, and sensual of the story lines... The Maria line is what you would expect from a swingers story line, not much more then lots of sex and being friends... The Jessica line I didn't enjoy as much, because Jessica treats the protagonist so bad sometimes... She treats him like a nuisance... It does get better eventually, but lets not spoil that... I personally felt it was too little too late with her... And she is very much a dominatrix personality...

I ran into one bug, down the Jessica story line after the weekend getaway with her and Dana... But there is a fix you can download to get past it... Thank you to UncleVT for pointing it out...

Overall, I really enjoyed the game even though it took up so much time grinding away... Mostly because the story is told so well, and there is a lot of content to experience... The random events were cool, even though they did get repetitive after a while (thank goodness for CTRL)... There is a lot of meaningful story and a lot of depth to the game... Even the ending sequences had some time and love put into them... This is pretty much a complete game, beyond perhaps a tiny amount of tweaking the developers will get around to eventually... So for me, there is no reason to play it again anytime soon... Thank you to the developers on a fun and entertaining story and game...

Here is a story that makes me dream. Very long story, with beautiful pictures, and pretty models. There are many choices. It is possible to vary the story without necessarily making a bad choice. This story is far from over I recommend to support the author.

Very good game with a likable protagonist that isn't a weirdo like in some games (looking at you, Big Brother). Gorgeous renders, fantastic story, extremely well written characters with a deep background.. almost everything about this game is pure gold. Here's hope the author will develop it more going into the future, because I do feel like it could use more content. I like the office interactions but wish there was more than one event when you roam around the office. Also I would have liked more interactions between the NPCs, as well as more conversations between you and your workmates. I also wish the pacing was better, it feels like you receive scenes and events that you normally would have to work for far too early in the story (ie Dana and Andrea having sex on like week 1). Other than that, what an utterly fantastic game!

Branching and deep story of our characters, sublime humour and jokes. Damn erotic stories, different but at the same time damn erotic! Great story! Somewhat lacking game mechanic, so players can cheat somewhat but it too is a plus. Couse players can use less time to have same effect. Like this game on easy mode.

Jessica SM, Less, Homo, straight, second best route. You can make Dana, Jess and Dad happy, all at the same time.

Andrea, personally my favourite route. Couse you can make many people happy at the same time. The most harem like ending and a happy one.

Maria& John debuchery in all kinds of ways, almost impregated Dana, so.. nice spice to this route. Third and last place for me personally. I can imagine myself in such situations only briefly, not permamentlly couse.. if You played it you will get my point.

Dana is happy in relationships with Jess & Andrea, with Maria & John.. not so much. So it is fun to be with them sometimes but to live with them is another matter all together.

Great game, Damn good plot. At first Dana looked the least sexy in this game, she changed her hairdo and TADA, magic. She become my love in this game. Maria is damn sexy but Andrea is sweet and Cute. Damn.. good characters. Jess is a type of a wild girlfriend. Fun to be with, but hard to please.

One of the best love stories you can find in ANY video-game - not just adult one. And Dana looks li'l bit like my highschool sweetheart.

There is a little bit of grinding, but you're rewarded with new story branchings - not just 3 pictures (I'm looking at you BB!).

Chris is great guy, hero you like to play - although I was sceptical at first (in game reviews you've got a feeling he is a spoiled rich brat). OK - I think he's bit too harsh to John because John is good guy - not some f****** Eric.

Apropos Eric - I've tried to think what would happen if he showed up... Only dillema I could see is: who would beat the crap out of him first - Jessica or Chris?

When I started playing adult games, I was always either happy with the story but disappointed with graphics, or vice versa.
In this game, I found everything I like, the story is phenomenal and visual details are perfect.
Ohhh and what to say about Dana... I mean, who would not fall in love with her.
Ptolemy did such a good job with her, and the way he telling us her story... I wish I have a sister like her in real life (that bastard Chris)
At the end my conclusion is... I've played a lot of games related to this genre and I can say with certainty that this is the best VN game i ever played in terms of the story, and level of maturity that this game brings considering the taboo topic. Also you will find a good dose of humor in this game, and plenty of interesting characters believe me, which is always a positive thing.
All I can say is, go and try this game people.....you will not regret it.

If you can, support Ptolemy he is one of the few developers around here who really deserves support in my opinion.

One of my favourite VN's to date.

As i've said once or twice, I can find porn anywhere. I go to these for something more. I like a good story and well done characters and this has those.

There are only a handful of these that keep me hanging on for the next update and Ptolemy has done a good job so far with this.

This is by far the most mature adult game I’ve played thus far!

I don’t say that because it has tons of sex in it (though it does). I say that because the way Ptolemy wrote these adult characters feels just very real.

Now let me put up a small disclaimer: If you want a game about an older brother seducing his small innocent and unaware sister this is not for you.
Similarly, if you’re looking for a story about a little brother trying to bang his older hot sister this game is not for you either. This is not your typical incest game playing in the parent's house.

The characters in this game are adults. Not for legal purposes, but because the author chose to make them like this. Both main characters are about the same age and share this awesome childhood friendship they managed to preserve over all those years they’ve been apart working (or bacheloring in Chris’s case).
Now they might’ve fooled around a little bit when nobody was at home back in the day, but those times are over and they’re both well aware of it.
When Chris admires his sister's body in the shower now she’s amused and feels flattered, but that’s it. And Chris is adult enough to accept that.
This is not some cheap porno à la “I see you have a boner brother, let me be a good sister and suck you off.”
Both characters have their own sex lives to compensate the potential feelings they might hatch while cuddling on the couch.
Still, the sexual tension is there and the player is not the only one this is driving crazy (in a good way).

I highly recommend downloading this game and giving it a try, after all it’s free!
Though this is not the final version there’s already something similar to an ending after the around 6 hours of game play.

What you can expect:
- a broad diversity of characters
- decent quality CGs
- Some grinding, but honestly the want for more kept me going. Not very well done, but acceptable.
- A game with a focus on its story.
- some special fetishes to choose from
- two endings so far depending on how you'd like the sexual relation with your sister to be

A tip for the start: I know you’d like to bang Dana immediately, but it just doesn’t work that easily for the reasons mentioned above.
Instead do what I mentioned they’re both doing: Compensate! There’s plenty of fish in the sea that keep your arousal afloat until the childhood friendship between the siblings ignites into a bonfire!

I loathe the day that I stop finding gems like this game and end up stuck with v0.1 games all the time.

10/10 game. At first I thought it was a bit lacking, and in some senses it is where things are a bit repetitive in between the events, but still overall it's a fantastic game and a great story with quality CGs. I don't know if I actually hit the full end point of the current update, but it's been good. Will definitely keep an eye on this one for future updates.

i gave this one a try. after all i have to say it's a great one. good story very complex and romantic. i love all the characters on their way. the onliest problem is the missing walkthrough. so it makes it a little harder sometimes to find the right way.

There aren't many story reliant game out there, but man o man this one hits mark.
Great Story, great character arc's, good CGI(damn author did nail with model used for Dana with combination of Daz3d models) thought CGI was better in BB but they fucked it up with dumb story line(Pissed a hell lot of people too).
This one has great combination of Characters, CGI,Story to make it worth playing at-least once if not more. As of now this has enough content to keep you libido going.

This game is a fucking gem, I can't believe I've spent a good couple months on this board without discovering it.

Not huge fan of the art, but it grew on me, as well as the amount of content.

This. It would be so much better if you could cuck john out of maria in the finished product.

Makes me wonder what other games I might've missed on.

the pacing and the overall story itself is good. the renders are also good. but what makes this game great to me is the writing, i like the characters and how they keep their traits.
the scenes are written well and diverse and hot. and i like how there are a lot of optional fetishes.
