I loved Behind the Dune and played through it several times to see all the content, so when I saw the title and description for this game I was instantly on board.
If you have played BtD, then you should find an immediate familiarity with certain aspects of the gameplay such as having a character follow you to different locations in order to progress the story. The navigation may not be as immersive as BtD, without the charming illustrated environments and animations for each location in the flash game, but it gets the job done quick and easy.
Mechanically, the dialogue reminded me of Morrowind, where-in you can unlock new topics through conversation which then allows other characters to discuss them from their own perspective. I really enjoyed this aspect of the game and appreciated the effort and time that was put into something that is, ultimately, not a *necessary* feature. It made the game, world, and characters all feel fuller and more fleshed out in the end, and it helps to elevate the project to a higher level of quality.
The AI-generated art with some human touch looks great, though you can tell that an AI is involved. Jessica, for example, has a neck-band in most of her images that looks slightly different in each. Such minor inconsistencies aren't worth complaining about, however, as the rest of their appearance (in my opinion) is quite good to look at.
The games current and planned tags and what I've read from the devs' comments in the game thread have made it clear that most of my taste and preferences align with their own, so I'm already feeling confident that this project will end up heading in the direction I had hoped it would from first glance.
Overall, this is a very promising start! I haven't been this excited by the potential of a new project for some time.
