Well, apparently it's intended for multiple playthroughs.
In fact, for the first game, I once expressed my frustration over the more esoteric quest triggers/solutions, how easy it was to accidentally romance characters you had no interest in (thus making other characters mad and ruining your romantic endeavors with them), and the locking of certain content behind character creation conditions, and was pretty much attacked by the fans for not playing the game like I was "supposed to" and for daring to "tear down" their dev's "perfect game."
