When I downloaded that link and tried to play all it shows is a room with a sign saying calibrate on it with some M+KB controls on the top left corner that don't work.
For whatever reason the dev uses the "F" key to interact with the menu. I figure it's a VR thing.

Try aiming at the "Calibrate" button and pressing "F"
That's all I had to do anyway.

I apologize if this has been answered, or is obvious in game, but I'm very confused as to how to make the machinery work together. I can build the conveyor belts and use the interpolator to move ores from the drill to the conveyor belt. At that point, however, I'm unsure if it's necessary to build an entire line of conveyor belts, or of we can use the interpolators to have them teleport a short distance. If you can, how do you get those to work? I've tried several configurations, but I'm unsure if it's the distance, or if it's their directionality. I'm also unsure what "short" means in this game, given you can collect mined materials from your drills 20+ feet away.

There's just a lot of machinery that doesn't make sense in terms of how they work together. I'm also unsure what happens with the elves that you've purified. So far, I just have a floating, naked elf that is doing nothing.

The mainstream approach is to build from conveyor belts, and use (more expensive) teleporters only when you need to. Such as when you need to cross the conveyor lines.
Note that in factorio-derived games like this one, factory layout tends to get more complex as you progress, so the right answer is always "do whatever makes it easy for you to check or modify the factory".

It is up to 4 tiles away otherwise it won't teleport. like [T->] [] [] [] [] [T->]

Once the line is set you will see stuff moving around even if there is no destiny. Mind the arrow that is the direction to where stuff is going to move.

Also the teleports need to be build in pairs if you delete 1 end you need to delete both and start over the first one will be blue the exit (2nd) will be yellow

So yes u need an entire line with a interpolator at the beginning taking stuff off the machine to the belt and another interpolator at the end taking stuff from the belt to the machine.

You can take stuff out the big furnace into the other machines as well

Some people don't like clicking multiple things just to look at what is in the new update, so here's the direct link to the post, it includes gifs/images btw. (The update some people here are asking for, not the one currently posted).

I also noticed a reply to a comment on that post:
"The animation editor is something out of scope for this project but is something I really want to add for future ones. Don't worry, this game will not be in development for years and years, I have plans to finish Elvenfoundry and start other projects with many improvements rather soon "

I figured those words from the developer might be important to some people here, whether each person considers it good or bad news is up to them, I'm indifferent.

Thank you for the explanations. Very helpful!

Hello, quick question, is VR more advanced than the classic version or are both at the same stage?

vr have better graphics more buildings and more npc/animations than prototype but the factory part is more or less the same. the player is a male and can interact with the elves in the lab/pool/gym/rooms. There are a few building in the planet that have elves on it

how do you delete your save? like what folder on my computer is it in? reinstalling kept my save progress. I am softlocked on the first quest because I only put one cube thing in the building and it wont let me deposit more. I want to see what this weird game is like.

edit: figured it out its in User\AppData\Local where every other unreal game stores its stuff. also this game is riddled with bugs, cant see building config menus anymore.

It's just something. When playing VR, you have to blindly search for the buttons on the keyboard! What nonsense. and the second. What are these bouncing cubes? what to do with them and how to interact with them?
