VN - Ren'Py - Eternum [v0.8.0] [Caribdis]

Great game with excellent graphics and history.
For those who have played Once in Life, it's a bit more of the same but with the new honey select engine.
And this is one of the negative points, because some faces and their bodies, especially the male ones, have details that make them look strange.
Quite content to be a first version.
And a theme better than many others of the same type. I would say that the story for now is more entertaining than many of the audiovisual products that I have seen with the same theme.
I expect a lot from this game and its creator, who for now has been reliable enough, not like others.

Everything sparkles here. It's got a fun story, interesting characters. The girls are all insanely attractive. It skips along at the beat of its own drum without feeling poorly paced. It feels like a real visual novel meant to capture your attention and keep you sucked in.
The humor really slaps, and honestly I had to stifle some serious laughter.

If there are problems, I was too involved to notice them. Honestly, everything was so my style that I kind of forgot to care about all of that.

Play it.

There is little here that I could say that hasn't already been said. This game is great for a 0.1 release. In fact, it should be a benchmark for future initial releases, the overall quality, detailed but not overbearing presentation of the world and just all of the little details that make a world feel real and believable are something that Caribdis seems to have perfected.

Looking forward to seeing what Eternum has in store for us.

As of 0.1 this game is incredibly intriguing, it builds up the future story threads well without taking away from introducing the interesting cast of characters. Loved how the character looks and the comedic aspect of the game. Excited for the next update!

I got into Caribdis' previous game Once in a lifetime at around its penultimate update and I loved the comedy in an already engaging plot. I'm glad to see the same comedy in Eternum! The models are amazing and the characters all have fun and unique personalities. The story is very interesting and I can't wait to see how it develops.
Keep it up, Caribdis!
PS: More Luna and Annie in future updates would be great

I've been a lurker on here for the past four years so when a game gets me to finally post for this first time I think that is enough evidence for a 5/5.

Caribdis' previous game was incredible, so I was naturally on the fence if they could pull it off again or if it was just lightning in a bottle.

Don't be like me, this game is outstanding and it's only had one release so far.

-The models are some of the best I've seen in the six years since I first found these types of games.
-Humor that has no right to be this good as it is, I couldn't say if I even laughed at one of these games before finding Once In A Lifetime and Eternum
-Excellent pacing and writing. I have a pretty low patience for dealing with bad writing in these games and I'm quick to start skipping, so it's impressive when a game keeps my finger off the CTRL key.

Top game on my watchlist right now, keep up the stellar work!

HOLLY MOLLY WHAT A GAME...! ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS ONE

Honestly this is the best HS game I ever played. Top notch renders alone makes you love this game. But that's not the only thing in this game this one got pretty interesting characters sprinkled with humors. This one is truly a visual treat. Animations are fluid. I loved the humor but that being said it's not for everyone. If you like anime humors you will also love this. Also this one is a harem. You can simply follow the path of the girls. If you are here for more of the porn scenes. You may feel disappointed. This one is more of a slow burn.

Well, you see... it's a game made by the madlad Caribdis

The creator of Once in a Lifetime. Something everyone that reads adult VNs should read.

Caribdis effectively came back swinging with better production quality overall. Everything that anyone could whine about previously was amended with Eternum. Better UI, better MC model, better male models, more variety in girls, better menu, etc.

This one started off so strong, the community was collectively like "CARIBDIS IS BACK, AND IT'S GREAT. COME ON IN."

What more can I say?

I love the girls so far, I love how this was referenced in the last game, and I love that I'm about to go on wild adventures again. Adventures with what will likely be some very fun girls.

One can make the obvious comparison to Ready Player One, and you wouldn't be wrong for doing so. However, I already enjoy Eternum way more than RPO, and that's not even because Eternum has sex scenes.

Eternum is self-aware in a great and balanced way, and that what's really going to make Eternum shine. The writing is just so spot on and consistently FUN.

Aight, I think that's enough shilling. Just read it if you haven't.

Can't wait for more, and hoping for a Stabby Mike cameo.

I was already fond of the models and art in previous game of Caribdis, but now, while similar, it looks like it's more polished and improved on and I love it. The characters are interesting, humor hasn't lost its touch and the story is excellent. Looking forward to play it until the very end.

Great story idea, which is well written
The girls look amazing, the outfits in eternum give them an interesting vibe
Also, love the fact that MC is a badass, highly confident, not just a wuss trying to touch some women

There obviously isn't a ton to review here yet, but it's plenty for a first release and it just oozes promise and potential. True to form, Caribdis had me laughing within the first few minutes of the game, and quickly provides us with a couple of gorgeous totally-not-sisters. The basic premise is really cool too and opens up some interesting possibilities. Really excited to see where this will go!

What can I say? It's a Caribdis game. I went into this expecting it to be perfect, and it somehow managed to be even better! It is simply brilliant. An order of magnitude better than OIAL - and that game was a 10/10. This is without a doubt in my mind the #1 VN of currently in development.

I kinda wish I could cryogenically preserve myself so that time would fly by faster and I could experience more of this masterpiece ASAP! I will definitely be supporting this on Patreon as soon as I get my post-pandemic finances sorted.

This really isn't necessarily my kind of game as playing this kind of male protagonist isn't an easy sell for me. But the premise intrigued me, and I'm glad I dove in!

I don't know how to say this well, but I'll try. I appreciate this dev and how he has developed the female characters so far. I feel like he is balancing the kink/porn aspect of having pretty females, but also not just creating "cum dumpster" characters that have no agency, desires, and depth to them too. Putting it bluntly, I see a lot of devs on this site that I literally laugh at privately because it's clear that they have no clue about women's thoughts -- and I even think some of them have never even been with a woman, but I think this dev strikes a perfect balance of enticement/sexy with some character depth. Awesome!

I also want to commend the humor. It has some very lighthearted moments and the intro of some of the characters and groups are just awesome!

But I want to save the best for last, and that's the "game" world. It's just such a cool environment with shades of Blade Runner and I wonder if something like this or Ready Player One inspired the game.

So, 5 stars. Not even necessarily my style of game at all, but the game is that good. Have fun at it all!

From the version that i am reviewing on eternum seems like a improved version of Once in a Lifetime and Once in a lifetime was already a masterpiece.

Eternum improved from the already good visuals of Once in a lifetime. The graphics are superb and the game definitely ranks at the top of this website based on graphics. Each image has high resolution and i would even say that the quality around 1-3 tiers(depending on the image) below a ultra quality graphics triple A game of 2021ish(This is a VN so obviously it requires only couple images per minute instead of generating high quality images realtime but i am just comparing the quality). However this will games graphics will beat the triple A games from the mid 2010s.

from the current version the story is similar to Once in a Lifetime. The game is currently on the same path(storywise) as Once in a Lifetime but is drifting apart. This is a good thing as it will not be just Once in a Lifetime version 2 but a whole new game with an unique storyline. I would say that the tempo of this VN is good as the game doesn't forcibly put in any character as it gives hints(dialogue, location...) whenever it wants to introduce a new character so the new character is already integrated in the story. The story is also has a good storyline.

Most of the characters are an alternate universe of a character from Once in a Lifetime. This makes you feel connected more easily as it is connected to the other game. Although the similarity between characters this games gives a differnt feeling about each one of them. They don't feel like exact copies of the other game just similar. All characters are likable and wellmade.

I would recommend to play both this and Once in a Lifetime. Both games are masterpieces and the game developer is putting a lot of effort into making them. I believe that the game will become even better as the game developer is constantly improving and making his work better each release.

This is a very well done introduction to Eternum. Well written, funny, witty, sexy, beautiful to look at. Looks like lessons learned from making the previous game are well applied.

It's not a short intro, either. There's plenty to see, hear, read. I'm excited to see where the story of Eternum goes.

The graphics also seem to be turned up (in the right direction) from the previous game. A lot of hard work went into this and it shows. Very impressive and I highly recommend folks trying out this game,

The MC isn't whingy, he acts like a normal dude with a bit of self confidence, and he's surrounded by beautiful women... a classic but still appreciated recipe for my tastes.

Despite being very early in development, this game is already probably more enjoyable and engaging than most titles on this site: art is nice, world building is great, writing is crisp, all the girls are hot and likeable. The game strikes a pretty good balance between humor and mystery. Author does a good job setting everything up and even with the first release, there is quite a lot content here (even if hardly any lewd one). As a side note, it's nice to see a porn game written by someone who seems to actually like women (say what you want, misogyny is not sexy). Really looking forward seeing future releases of this one.

Good models, plenty of playtime, the right amount of dry punchline humour.
"Difficulty" seems easy, choices are very cookie cutter, might change down the line.

We've all seen the spam of Ren'Py 3D harem games, but this one stands on it's own legs.

Before Starting...
This is the second game of Caribdis and I'm a big fan of his first game as well, so when I heard we gonna get a new game and he is not gonna stop making games I was so happy. I just want to say appreciate his all efforts before starting the game and thank him Anyways...

Good Points
+ Drawings/Renders of the game look amazing. Real-life city & buildings look pretty good. Eternum textures and texture style looks amazing. And all of these have a detailed look with a well-suited color palette as well.
+ Details about Eternum lore especially take my interest a lot and I wanna learn more! And I'm loving things we already know: like all our character's journey to find Calypso was darn amazing... The details we learn were mind-blowing... Basically all details about Eternum lore are pretty darn interesting and good.
+ Aside from lore Eternum's potential about having different servers and stories etc being used by DEV pretty darn well! He creates different stories, ambiance, and musics for them and they are well fitted. Especially that Detective server was scary AF with all that ambiance and music etc... I was playing those parts while I'm alone in my room without any light... And now im like: ''Mr Carbdis... I don't feel so good...'' LOL
+ Like his other game this game has an amazing sense of humor as well, there are lots of scenes you will lose yourself while laughing. Especially that Dark Souls reference was amazing, I'm still laughing. Or reference to Disney princess or reference to Anakin's feelings about sand etc. There is a lot of them out there and if you are cultured enough you gonna have blast! And Nova keeps hacking other people could be my favorite new thing, I'm just losing it whenever I see a scene about it LMAO. And references are not just about being funny, there are some cool references like Pyramid Head Summon, etc as well.
+ I really love how our DEV uses music, they fit scenes pretty well: especially that creepy music in creepy scenes got me... I can even say the music itself was more creepy than the scenes it self LOL.
+ Girls/Woman looks damn hot, cute, sexy, amazing... Call whatever you want they look 10/10. And not just their look: their characters are damn well made as well. Each of them has their own personality and character traits, non of them feels like copied from the other and they do feel unique a lot: which makes things pretty immersive. Their stories are heartwarming and sometimes sad but always well written, like Luna and her experience with Boggles... That scene just makes me cry... Or how amazing Penelope is or how Annie is the cutest thing in the whole world!
+ Texture quality looks pretty good. We can especially see big improvements in women's body textures.
+ We have well-made and lots of animations for sex and normal scenes. I can easily say this game has the most realistic and good-looking animations and animation physics I have seen in any adult game, they are just perfect. Especially v0.4 GYM animations were dope.
+ New fight mechanics with timed actions, their visuals, and sound effects was dope! It was darn cool and I'm hoping for more! We need more fight scenes like that gladiator fight!

Bad Points
- There are some inconsistent and kind of nonsense scenes where your choices do not work as they should, Axel's and Annie's scene is a good example of this. In that scene we see Annie having a problem with one of him, and we get 3 different options for that scene: we can Ignore, be polite or act aggressively towards him. But even if we choose to "be aggressive" MC just stands there watching them while that dude gropes her ass... I can understand ''being polite'' can lead to this failure but acting aggressively should be fast, fast enough to avoid this scene. And we have some other scenes as well and they need a chance, and DEV should avoid these types of errors for the next versions as well.
- Jerry's existence is so annoying... He is made out from cringe toe to head and his existence is good enough to count as a bad point... Especially his arrogance about Dalia is not bearable at all...
- We have too many teasing and cock-blocking scene, their number keeps increasing with every update and DEV literally adds teasing or cock-blocking scenes to every scene, even if it's not necessary at all, which is quite annoying. For example, even in this 0.5 update, there was a Nancy scene cut by Penelope, then there was a Nova scene, the dialogue was saying you can have sex with her, but another guy come and MC got cock-blocked, then there was Regina scene again it's teased by her but we had no option to had sex with her and then we had another Nancy scene cock-blocked by Gertrude... As you can see even in one update we have an unnecessary amount of cock-blocking and this is 5th update... Basically, DEV keeps cock-blocking MC non-stop and these cock-blocking scenes have literally zero meaning, they are not funny or not needed at all. They just lower the game quality and make things annoying.
- Update v.07 had quite nonsense ending which MC got shot, SMH... Why he acted soo damn egoistic and dumb? You seriously gonna tell me he just turned his back against junkies? Even 10 years old would think turning your back to junkies is pretty damn bad idea after beating their asses like that, they can throw you knifes, some other stuff, or can shot you... That ending makes literally zero sense and screams poor writing, not something I was waiting from Eternum for sure, very bad choice... And what's worse is it's happening literally end of the update, and considering every update takes 7-10 months that's really bad move... We literally have to wait nearly a year to find out what happened to him, BRUH.

For The End
Honestly, this game started perfectly, it was a straight up 5 stars rate game without any problem, but with every update and increasing problems, especially the annoying cock-blocking trope DEV use and thinks it's funny while it's not is lowering this game's quality, the game is already perfect with the way is but he keeps adding some stuff we don't need at all and at this rate I'm gonna drop my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars, it's still one of best adult games I have ever seen, but DEV needs to stop adding bad points over and over again, fix current bad points and overdoing unfunny tropes...

Fuck this game is great just like the first dev game it doesn't disappoint at all, music, modeling, scenes EVERYTHING in the game looks great not to mention the story and the worlds inside the game Eternum with cyber-punc look I just loved it I really have nothing bad to say about the game the story hooked me too much I look forward to its update.
