VN - Ren'Py - Eternum [v0.8.5 Public] [Caribdis]

Overall, pretty solid game. I can see why it's so popular. Unfortunately, I had to dock some points because it does have some flaws, that may or may not annoy you (they did annoy me).

    The good:
    - Gorgeous LIs, likable cast. The LIs are the main-selling point of this VN by far. People love them, for good reasons.
    - Very good renders, very good animations. Very good lewd scenes too.
    - Interesting story with an intriguing plot. Some may find it delves too much in side-stories, but I thought it was fine.
    - The development of the relationship between the MC and the LIs is also decent enough, with some exception (mentioned below).

    - The humor is hit-or-miss. It's very "anime".

The flaws: Some of this is subjective, so opinions can vary.

    - I don't like the MC. I found him at times stupid/cringe/arrogant/annoying. He became less annoying in the latest update(0.8), but I still don't think he's written very well. To really like this game, you need to self-insert as him but I don't.
His transition from a douchebag ( in v0.7) to a humble lover in 0.8 is not written well at all. It felt very unearned and unorganic
    - This game is an overt power fantasy. For example, all LIs are supermodels but they are all virgins who were just waiting for MC, all other male characters are either villains or hapless sidekicks, MC has unique powers and is the chosen one, etc. So the game is obviously pandering hard. This is normally fine. But in long VNs like Eternum, that only works when you like/respect the MC...

    - Small spoiler: Something happens in the end of 0.7 and they way the dev dealt with it in chapter 0.8 is honestly atrociously bad. It was one of the biggest case of lazy hand-waving.
    - This and some other story segments, show that the dev sometimes just does what he wants. That makes this game feel a bit self-indulgent at times.
    -

    - This is more of a personal annoyance than anything, but I figured out the "main plot twist" very early on, but when these idiots (MC & crew) couldn't until they are straight up told, it was annoying. Also,
when they kept calling Callypso an AI when she obviously wasn't (to the smart readers at least), that was pretty grating.
It just made the good guys look dumb.

Incredible. An extremely well-animated and oftentimes funny game. Improvement from release to most recent updates are night and day. Protagonist is a little cringe sometimes but that's probably the only gripe I have. One of, if not the best, AVNs out there.

Best at immersing with the ideal hot girls as well. Not too much boring dialogue and the dialogue portions themselves have great writing and animations. There is little to no major branching dialogues which is honestly great because we get to see every inch of what the dev made.

Simply the best AVN out there. Period. The is intriguing, the renders are beautiful, the animations are clean. Having played dozens of other AVN, there isn't one that comes close to Eternum in my view.

I have tried lots of AVNs lately, and only a few held me enough to keep me playing.

The one game I can't get enough of is Eternum. The story is very well written, but what I think makes this game so great are the characters. Every single person has a good character development arc, they feel and act human, and sometimes I get lost in the conversations, not even realizing they aren't real.

    By far my favorite AVN

One of the best at scenes & characters IMO, and as far as I'm concerned every other criteria is minor.

The premise is great and there is enough to keep me more than satisfied. It would be nice to have more sub options, as the game is paced slowly and steeped heavily in the direction of romance, but these are wishes and not critiques. Bottom line is I love it and I find it difficult to be patient for updates.

Although the graphics look good in the end the way they are used seems dated as they are mostly static images that do not match the type of art used, the models are in 3D and most of the time they are just static images, only in some events you can see animation, the story is not the best at first it can be interesting but then it gets boring over time, the interface design also seems dated compared to the model graphics and there is a feeling that something does not match at all in the design.

I had such high expectation because everyone is raving and rating it so highly so I gave it a go, honestly its just alright.

The story starts off very strong but after a couple of chapters you realize this is your typical harem game with no actual choices which is dissapointing, all "choices" lead to the same outcome anyway, story wise also romance wise.

The MC is very basic, the typical brain dead horndog simp from incest games who only thinks with his dick. Sadly he has no character. I would say Chang is more interesting character.

My problem is that all the LI have this same face syndrome and all look very young even the mom. The visuals is great overall but this is bugging with me with honey select.

The romance or harem whatever you call this, feels wierd, its too forced, they all in love for no reason and all wants MC d bad.

Every lewd scene is basically the same, MC fucking the shit out of the girl, it doesnt matter if its her first time. They all get treated like sex toys, its like they all are sluts.

I think this VN is a solid package but highly overrated

The writing isn't riveting enough to keep you glued to the screen for hours on end, yet I stayed. The characters are as compelling as your average harem anime, yet I still fell in love. The story is average at best, the humor doesn't always land, and the author's fixation on themes such as incest and harem will do its best to push you away.

Raised atheist, I always wished for there to be more to things than the casual cruelty of our uncaring reality. Heaven as a concept was something I found myself reflecting on often, especially when life was less than livable - every major religion's depiction is so profoundly inhuman, that it sounded almost worse than hell, the realm of eternal torture (you get to meet a bunch of perfectly obedient 'saints', and feel unity with god, best feeling conceivable - we have that on earth, it's called a fucking crack den (or fentanyl these years)). How do I imagine an environment where I'd be forever happy, while still staying me?

Then on the other hand, we have the autistsperg supreme intellectual elites, yelling at us from their not-so-ascetic pillars, that this is all there is, and we should just deal with it. How do we imagine heaven in something so banal and inconvenient as our own universe?

This piece of slightly interactive media, assembled from figurative sticks, spit, and prayer, in a clumsy, probably unintentional, way answers both of my question with profound ease and elegance. It would've been infuriating, if I actually took myself seriously.

The simple answer is the antidote to the little voice in my head that always wants to keep me down: when it talks about wildly improbable negative outcomes, the answer is to also hope for the wildly improbable positive outcome. "Your flight will end in a plane crash." - "You're just as likely to win the lottery. Buy a ticket."

You have a girl you like? There's nothing in the way, she only has eyes for you, no other guys asking her out, no usual circumstances that fuck things over. Having a problem with an annoying asshole? There's no groupie bitches sucker punching you from behind, the playing field is even, and you have absolute confidence in victory. Managed to finally get a girl into your room, you're a confident dude who worked hard for his lot in life, and on top of that, your donger is the envy of the locker room - while in reality you'll hurt her, cause her pain, freak her out so she doesn't even let you get it in, and when you finally do, it'll be such a miserable ordeal, that it'll mess you up for year to come. All that without even any comorbidities like endometriosis, fibroids, whiskey dick, bleeding (nose and vaginal), or any of the myriad things that are there just to ruin your night. In this game the universe will get on its knees, sensually get your dick out, and give you the sloppiest blowjob of Johnny Sins' life, only stopping to lovingly ask whether you'd like to cum down her throat, or on her blushing, glistening, messed-up-makeup face.

Grab your insecurity, rip off any self doubt, and throw them off a cliff - then let this little if-clause tentacle monster (16750 lines of code added? lmao, yandere dev called, he wants his lack of programming skills back) submerge it in an ocean of confidence - certainty that you won't fuck up. Nothing will fuck it up for you. It won't be weird or awkward. Even defeat is temporary, and still glorious.

I played the first game when I was 25. I couldn't understand then. I think I do now. This 'game' gave me peace. It gave me hope. It gave my insecure self well-overdue closure. RIP in piece in pieces, bitch. Today, I got to feel like my best self.

Despite its many (manymanymany) flaws, Eternum left a stronger impression on me than the likes of Dan Simmon's Hyperion Cantos. Sorry Aenea, you're just too doom and gloom with the martyrcore judeo-christian liveaboard-trustafarian style. I give it the perfect 5/7 score, deserving of a paragraph in my biography, after I win the Nobel prize for the clearest, clarest, flawless sapphire post-nut clarity.

And I haven't finished it yet. I almost don't want to. I don't want it to end.
The MC (I)- he's(I'm) him. 50k+LP hyperborean s*rver rank 1. Get lobotomized, noob.

    TL;DR
If you like it, you're a closet misogynist with Oedipus complex, and you make me sick. 11/10

First thing first, I've not completed the story yet, but I LOVE this game, I'm a big fan of the Immersive Vr-MMO genre and it fulfill it very well.

I'm even at a point where I have a theory on some events that are still to be understand.

I have to put a point on sound design that has a very good quality, ambiance and music are really nice.

If you want a short game with a lot of sex scene early, it's definitly not the good game though, it'll take time and a lot of dialog to have the first scene (that isn't really sex with each character) but it comes after some times and come pretty often too in the story.

To summarize I really like the game, I'm hooked to the story and I love all the girls they have pleasants personnalities.

Best game in terms of visuals currently on the market: top-tier renders, great animations, pleasing characters, extremely varied environments.

Serviceable story: an obvious parody on Ready Player One, sometimes intriguing, mostly eh. Humor is very specific and either lands or falls completely on its face.

Solid character writing: considering the genre, nobody expects Shakespearian dialogues. Girls have personalities and motivations (that are dwindling more and more as the game cruises towards harem slop).

Overall: A strong recommend in terms of VN for "quality evening time". For plot or atmosphere look somewhere else (Project Passion, MiST, Out of touch).

Alright, here’s my take on "Eternum," and spoiler alert: it’s a mess. This game’s been hyped up everywhere, so I gave it a spin, but man, it’s a total bust. The story kicks off with some promise;;like, ooh, action-packed vibes;; but then it just flops into this predictable harem slog. No twists, no stakes, just a straight-up yawn-fest. Your choices? Pointless. It’s like they’re pretending you’ve got control, but nah, it’s all smoke and mirrors.

The main guy’s a total snooze too. He’s Mr. Perfect;zero flaws, zero personality. Just a walking cardboard cutout. And the dialogue? Oh boy, it’s rough. Especially when things heat up, it’s like a cheesy wattpad story gone wrong;think “Hey babe” on repeat. Cringe overload. Then there’s this one scene that’s straight-up awful. The dude forces himself on someone, and it’s a nope from me. Killed any vibe the game had left.

It’s also a shameless "Ready Player One" wannabe, but instead of cool gameplay, you get endless hacking. Boring. The writing starts okay but turns into a slog fast, and the spicy scenes? Bland as plain toast. No variety, no excitement; just meh. The love interests are the worst, though. Half of ‘em are snobby or weird, and the rest feel forced into it. Your choices don’t even matter; pick what you want, it’s still the same old story.

The main character’s all over the place too. One sec he’s tough, the next he’s a nervous wreck or some simp chasing girls who don’t care. The animations? Janky. The characters? Forgettable. And those sex scenes; dull as dishwater. Graphics look like they’re stuck in the past, and the writing never hooks you. "Eternum" could’ve been dope, but it’s a hard pass. Save yourself the hassle and skip it.

The story is fun and hopefully it will long continue.

The renders are way better than most games especially from the environment look. Massive improvement from previous game.
    The animations are good.
There is no performance problems probably because it is basically just a vn.
The music is really nice and fits the themes of the story parts.
The game doesn't provide extreme choices. There is a few of them but neither really plays a big part in the story.
The game offers everything a porn VN could probably ask for in a well polished package. There is also no bugs that I encountered on the last version. I understand now why people recommend it so much.

On first reading the overview of the game, I did not really think it was something I would like. After seeing a bunch of reviews and ratings on different sites, I decided to give it a try. The first 10-15 minutes of play did not catch my attention, but once I got into the story and events began developing... I was hooked.

A good mix of intrigue, comedy, mystery, and drama mixed with pretty much any genre from sci fi to horror with the always present adult content makes the experience fun and maintains interest. Character development is great, animations and sound effects are excellent, sound tracks are very good, plot and story are quite good. Some of the plot twists are predictable, but not all of them.

Eternum is one of the best choice driven VNs I have played. It is kind of like a book or movie that you can't stop reading or watching because you want to see what happens next.

Another masterpiece by Caribdis. The story is increbible and so is its development through chapters. The graphics and sound are also very well refined and matched, anymatons are getting better and better. IMHO, best game ever in its category

    Review of v0.8.5

What can I say? This game is a masterpiece. I really enjoyed playing it.
Everything is perfect: the story, the graphics, the animations and the characters. The music is also good and goes well with every situation.
The other thing I loved was the omnipresent humour and the many nods.

The only small criticism I would make is the lack of variety in the sex scenes (e.g. no anal or titfuck with busty female characters like Nancy, Penelope or Calypso).

I recently discovered this game and I can see why it's so popular with other players. I highly recommend it!

This is clearly a story-first AVN. It plays well, at the player's pace, and feels like a well done TV series. The characters have their own lives, and while there's a lot of artificial depth, and a heavy dose of stereotyping, it lends itself to that satisfying feeling of character-first story telling.

My understanding is that Carbidis has made this a harem game so that multiple playthroughs aren't necessary to see the content, which adds to the enjoyment, as you don't feel as though the game has locked you out of content. (Though revisiting the game is still enjoyable, even if you know what's coming.)

Not a lot else can be said about the game without spoilers.

Some of the humour feels contrived/forced, and doesn't really stand up on multiple playthroughs. (This is normal in modern media, so I'm not marking it down for this.)

I really don't like HS games they just don't do it for me, but this is one of my all time favorites, that's how good I think it is. Graphics, story, Love Interests, animations and of course the sex scenes are all 5 stars. Defenitely a must play.

This Game is just an absolute work of art, truly worthy of 5 Stars.

The story chapters capture you with their well-written plots. The amount of scenes in the Eternum-Dimensions and in "Reality" are really well balanced, in my opinion.

The Stories of the love interests can sometimes be lighthearted, sometimes heartwrenching, sometimes funny. It makes them seem like "real people".

The Artwork is just the créme on the top. Especially the later animated scenes .

The women in this visual novel are captivating and beautiful in both body and spirit, and they may lead some people to wish that they exist, be happy, and live forever. However, I cannot say the same for the main character (MC).

While you can choose the first name of the MC, the MC may not represent you, since the player's influence over his decisions and attitudes is quite limited.
Up until this point, everything seems normal within the limits of an interactive visual novel.
I will now list some things about this game that really bothered me:

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

In conclusion. In this game/visual novel, the player is like an alter that influences the molding of an MC who is stupid, and in some important moments, disrespectful. And, after helping to shape this character, there occurs a situation that shows there has not been significant evolution in him, in regards to his character.

While women should not be put on pedestals any more than men deserve it, the main women in this game are totally lovely. What cannot be said about the MC which lost a relevant part of my already scarce sympathy for him after the last events with Alex in version 0.85 of the game.

Summing up, this VN/game deserves a score of 5 for its lore and the main women you interact with throughout it. However, it deserves a score of 2 for the approaches of the MC and the author towards these women. These women deserve a much better MC. The visual novel/game deserves 3 but I leave it at 4 for the lore and out of respect for the kind and lovely characters (not the MC).
