Overall: 3/5
Aside from the excellent renders and animations, the story of Eternum left me with much to be desired after the recent updates of EP 5-8. What started as an engaging action-thriller unique in its contexts as an Adult VN devolved into generic harem game with no risk or consequence. Though it may be trivial, the narrative structure flows much more linear than branching like you would expect from a VN. Too much in fact that there is no risk nor consequences of your actions. I feel as if the anonymity of giving player choice is just a pretense of being able to call itself a VN. Although giving a player too much choice can break the immersion of the game, this one ruins it by not giving enough meaning to each choice.
What mostly is a downside for me is the MC. After the recent updates, he seemingly fell into a pit of being generic and too perfect. There are no flaws in his character, and this being the case makes him boring and uninteresting no matter how you spin it. Additionally, the dialogue (especially in the H-Scenes), too has devolved into generic and cringeworthy exchanges reminiscent of modern fan fiction, with phrases like "Hey babe" and "Don't worry babe" becoming all too common.
Therefore, I have to call Eternum average because it lacks the depth and engagement that made it initially compelling.
