RPGM - Completed - Exorcist of Lust- Kaede [v1.05] [moQ moQ soft]

Got around to finally finishing the review and going through everything. And after everything, it was still mid.

Pros:

• Good art
• Translation is good
• Gameplay is very easy, so you can focus more on the battle fuck if you want to get certain scenes.
• Two main variations of scenes. The original and the “slutty” scene. The CG scenes are mostly defeated by the generic enemies on top of the brothel area.
• There are a lot of bad status effects in this game and each of them have an extra h scene.
• The game gives you cheat items to make it to the end faster. You also have an overpowered item that makes sense within the story assuming you spend enough horny coins to purchase the key to get the fire to go away in the first town.
• There are three endings based on whether or not you lose to the final boss (difficult) and if you have been corrupted. The corrupted part requires going through the purple flames. There is an item that increases corruption and you can alter your stats before the final boss.
• Good amount of enemy variety.

Cons:

• There are only two bosses in this game and the final boss is stretching it. The final boss just involves you following the M icon to destroy the body parts of said final boss and that’s the end. It is very hard to lose the final boss as a result.
• The reveal that Rui is Kaede’s brother and not her ex-boyfriend is rather disappointing. There’s a reason this isn’t tagged NTR. NTR isn’t my favorite genre, but the desire to keep Kaede pure actually disappeared once she called him “big bro”. I should have figured out something was up given the insults felt less like exs bickering with each other and more of a sibling squabble.
• The story doesn’t seem to resolve itself as well as you would think. You defeat the horny queen and the area should have been restored, but we don’t know what happened to the man who disappeared in the opening or if the village Kaede passes through was even saved. It just goes back to her getting food and watching the kids again before she and her brother leave for another job.
• The healing items are rather worthless with how easy the game is. The game has fake progression with the item shop updating to better items, but you never need it because most enemies go down in a few hits anyway.
• Walking through water/mud/semen/aphrodisiac is actually a pain in the ass. There is an end game item that allows you to walk through it normally, but seeing as how you are forced to go through 3 sections of this early on, it just adds time to this already short game.
• The maps are too short. With how many areas in the game, you would think there is more to do. Alas, the town outside of the vixen palace is just a few houses and a big mansion that introduces the elder enemy, but doesn’t even serve as a boss. The fact you can’t even go inside the dark room if you resist the elder only adds to how underdeveloped the area is.
• The mansion area is also really short because it’s a few rooms, horny gas and a few headless enemies with an obvious trap that gives you one scene. There’s no challenge in this easy to navigate place.
• The brothel area is underutilized. You can only get 4 different scenes that are in a specific order. You can get them again after Kaede has fallen. The outside of the brothel is just random people who grope her and then you get random scenes for money.
• The first town is even underutilized. Half of the NPC scenes are in this area but there are no CGs except the handjob. What’s worse is you don’t get punished for going on the men’s side of the bath like most other games would, so you just go to the female side and get the h scene and leave.
• Because there’s no virginity check in this game, nothing actually changes with Kaede. The bestiary of horny spirits gives a good description of the enemy that changes based on how corrupted Kaede becomes, but no unique dialogue if you have vaginal sex.
• The fact most of the items required to get status elements require money is annoying. The cheat item allows you to have unlimited money and horny coins, but it shouldn’t get to that point when these items should have been easy to find in the first place. I think having the poison item would have made getting h scenes way easier because Kaede does not take that much damage from the enemies.
• It’s hard to keep certain status elements on Kaede without losing them either because you ran away after the battle fuck or you go to the defeat CG and it removes all the status effects. Orgasm afterglow is hard to get a scene for because it’s basically locked to the battle fuck. On top of that, a lot of the status elements are actually hidden values not exactly mentioned in the game. Sadism and masochism are obtained by making others cum and cumming from others. Getting an elder slave and vixen slave also requires losing a certain amount of times to that particular enemy.
• Hypnosis doesn’t actually do much. You get it from the vixen, but the QTA mash isn’t affected as much as the game says it does. It’s not like with a modded game like Mission Mermaiden where hypnosis actually makes it near impossible to mash out of.

Unlocking the h gallery does seem like a good idea overall since you aren't missing much in terms of story and everything actually works there.

Game as game
Story: 4.5/10 - generic, linear, pretty short and nothing special
Gameplay: 5/10 - simplified combat, very simple locations in which mostly you can run through in 1-2 minutes (if you dont want "things" to happen of course )
Graphics: 7.5/10 - very good quality of artwork, locations are mostly average, but nothing terrible
Sound: 6/10 - exists, not ultra generic but also nothing special

H-content
Quality: 8/10 - you have event scenes with multiple images and some text and mini-events/battle restraints that are semi-animated (hero is static, other stuff is animated), overally very good stuff but without fireworks, the quality of artwork is very nice
Quantity: 9/10 - lot of great things here, although scenes themselves are just ok, harrasment is not that good, but you also have some tentacle, slime stuff as of battle restrains - you need to tear clothing (one level unfortunately, so only intact/torn) and depending on the current (pleasure) and overall (promiscuity) in game "progress" you have more and more invasive actions - its not the very top level you can imagine, but it is great (although due to neccessity to balance between you wanting to play as normal or to lose on puropse, quite time consuming to get higher stages of arousal). From bad sides, it has about 70 scenes in total (which is a huge amount at first glance) but a lot of them, are just reuse of assets with different text and variations of our hero attitude and the amount of other stuff is nice, but not that spectacular (SPOILER ALERT: swimming in the pink pools unfortunately does not have any direct effect :c)
H-Gameplay: 7/10 - visit location, do some stuff, go to next "dungeon", tear your armor to get restrained, lose to get scene, get some additional scenes from the curses removal - overally it is pretty decent, but a lot of potential wasted here, would love to see some more actions, total armor tear etc.

Summary
Another "game" that is rather focused on frying the meat than being good as the game (but honestly it is better than other way around). Don't get me wrong, it is not just scene unlocker, but if you would really look at this as a game, you would say it is probably made in one month by two guys, as it is plain simple in almost everything, both combat and exploration is below average. On the other hand, even with a lot of asset reusage, amount and variety of meaty content is great for such a short game.

There might be some really nice status ailments in here, but you have to work really hard to get them. At my first playthrough I might a virgin run without using any effort.
The struggling is so weak that you purposefully have to way for the enemy or villagers to corrupt you.

It's a simple and short game with easily accessible scenes, though I'd recommend playing it with the cheats from the start, as not having them would just make the experience more annoying.

The H content is nice, even though you should take notice that it is censored.

Game is a fun short experience with the classic bad states around 15 I think so it has content though some if not most aren't visible.
On one end it's 3 hours max with 2 different endings so you have a large amount of content for a playthrough and per hour
Negatively... the balancing is wack... there are 5-6 bad states that rely on you killing yourself over and over the same type of enemy and even with the poison item to help speed things up (-99%hp&mp) it's slooow and you one shot everything while everything needds 20-30 hits while you regen hp and mp. don't expect a hard game, I found myself spending time thinking about the most optimal ways to kill myself in game and pressing various placebo buttons repeatedly thinking they accelerated the animations... I don't think they did
But yeah, both rpg and ero balancing is wack, there's a split path choice where you need 70% lewdness to go on the lewd path, unless you want to spend 5 hours grinding scenes, you obligatorily have to use the corruption potion available everywhere for a free+20 lewdness.

tldr: it's fun but it's wack

It aint a great game, but it's decent enough for the H stuff honestly.

Not worth replaying or really playing without cheats, as gameplay wise it's all skin deep.

I don't have anything interesting to say, or review it in a bad nor good way. It's forgettable fap material essentially, but at least it does that fairly well. Just speedrun to gallery and unlock all scenes or speedrun with the "godmode" items.

Corruption is also skin deep, either she denies that she likes it or she loves it.


It's alright. There's worse but there's also significantly better.
Decide for yourself if you feel like killing some time with this one.

I really liked the game. It's simple, quite simple (few scenes, reusing sprites, etc.), but I don't think that's a detriment to it. Still, originality of the script, characters, or criteria like that are out of the question, but hey, at least I don't play hentai to read stories.
In my opinion, the game does well in terms of being hentai, most of its mechanics (mainly a curse system) are very focused on that, making the game revolve around the concept of being a hentai game and not an RPG, for example.
The bestiality content is quite small, but it makes its presence felt considering the simplicity of the game.

The gameplay itself is badly executed. It lays the foundations of a really good game, with a pretty big RPGM world, NPCs with unique lines, and unique combat/corruption mechanics.

And then it completely falls flat on itself.

The RPGM world is painfully linear, the NPC interactions do nothing, the combat is repetitive, and the mechanics are pointless as it doesn't connect to the rest of the game. In short, it is a bad H-game.

About the scenes, they are good-ish? There are certainly no shortage of games with worse scenes, but there are also certainly no shortage of games with better scenes. It's pretty average on that front. The game uses pseudo animation that was popular a few years ago, but now with L2D scenes it just makes the game look amateurish.

All in all, this game is the definition of average.

But as others have pointed it out, this game simply lacks quality
It tries to be a great game, with all the stuff that's jammed in
But, each of the components are not organically connected, they don't do much anything than showing stats on-screen
I once got stuck on that village kind of place because I skipped all the text and knew nothing to do. Just adding NPCs saying what to do might have prevented it.

The art is good tho, with an unlockable gallery from the start
Otherwise, Meh.

This is a game that sincerely wants to be good. All the pieces are here; bad status, CGs, a decent story (Which is important to me)

And then it falls flat on it's face in execution.

Where this game shines is in that there's a lot of writing and events that are easy to get to. If you like seeing a big breasted, kinda stupid girl getting molested by...just about every man she comes across, you're going to love this game. If you don't like that, then this probably isn't the game for you.

The saving grace is, once you're into the mansion you're supposed to investigate, you're pretty much able to see any event you want to with minimal effort, but frankly? You're better off unlocking the recollection room, since the gameplay is so frustrating.

The combat is an interesting idea and original, but extremely unintuitive; fortunately, only a handful of fights are required. It's also pretty clear the author/artist had a "girls wading through waist deep muck" fetish because there's a lot of it, and it reduces you to walking speed on massive maps.

If you like seeing girls carrying the idiot ball for the sake of being molested? Jump right in. Otherwise, there's better games out there for you.

I actually couldn't make it to the first scene that would increase her corruption stats. I saw a few lewd scenes but nothing changed in her stats, it was as if nothing happened. And all of those happened with big warning signs: "Are you sure she's a complete idiot and sleeps in a slum motel after you read the mind of the owner saying he's going to assault you? Yes or no?"

Perhaps I'm being unfair and it gets a lot better, but if I get too bored before I reach such a state, I can't give it a higher score.

CG is the game's best draw with pacing being its worst. Everything about this game is slow. Walking through water or mud is horrendously slow and rather frequently required. Scenes have an honestly weird amount of dead air. Combat gets props for not being generic RPGM stuff, but that's the start and end of that praise.

There are very, VERY few unique CGs in this game. Almost everything is re-used at least once, but often multiple times over. This is especially an issue with how inconsistent the quality is with them, and how little diversity there actually is in how they're used.

This game, thankfully, has a CG room that you can simply unlock from the start. I recommend doing so. I really like what this game is going for, and would like to give it 3 stars, but it's not average. It's poor. It fails in its attempts at a battlefuck system, fails to deliver as much content as it wants to pretend it has, and has some of the most unnecessary time sinks at every junction. Not even in the way of grinding, but in the way of simply existing. Dead air, long walks, and no beautiful beaches to enjoy along the way.
