A pretty well-polished text-based game, closely following the footsteps of Corruption of Champions, its main inspiration. You can find many of the same gameplay elements from that game here: The emphasis on mutagenic consumables, the custom-tailored battle and sex sequences for each enemy in the game, and the hub world where you can visit your followers and whatnot. This game also has the particularity of having a nursery where you can visit your offspring, and while it's inconsequential to the main plot or the gameplay, it at least contributes to the immersion by letting you see the consequences of your actions with some NPCs, and it is an area I wish the original CoC had implemented.
The game, in general, suffers from the same issues CoC had, most notably the overreliance on the wiki to reach certain content and complete relationships with some characters. The user interface is overall much nicer and straightforward than CoC's, but it certainly shows it age as well.
The setting is also similar to CoC, albeit the world in FoE feels much more alive and less tainted by the corruption; unfortunately, it also feels less vast than the one in CoC, due to many story lines and unlockable areas not being fully implemented, the game having been abandoned by the developers a very long time ago.
The gameplay too also has its shortcomings for the same reason, although the partner mechanic is much more involved here than in CoC; here, you can have multiple teammates in fights, each with their own moveset, which is a big step up from CoC where tag fights were used very sparsely and were nowhere near as involved or fun as here.
Overall, while functionally, it is a straight improvement over its base material, FoE suffers from many of the same issues and a severe lack of content, most of what's already here being unfocused and unifinished. However, it still holds very true to the original style and immersiveness of the original, and fans of the original will enjoy this one just as much.
