Rundown of 0.3.5 / 0.3.6 -
Masturbation mechanic - it's neat; gives our MC a way to raise the lust value ad hoc, which is nice, and offers us 3 scenes - one completely new one and the other two are re-purposed animations but with a bit more pizzazz. The brand new scene is good, of the quality we've come to expect of this game and its CGs
The one negative to the masturbation mechanic is the game is really selective of where/when you can do it (maybe this is tutorialised in the newest build of the game if you start fresh - I loaded an old save).
The only place I found you can do it consistently (regardless of time of day) is in one of the wasteland maps with the junk salesman - strikes me a bit odd that our hero wont flick the bean at night in an alleyway but will do it in broad daylight directly in view of some derelict hobo in a gas-mask. But hey-ho it's the apocalypse.
Crafting/Battle Damage - again like the above it's a neat system and it gives some purpose to all the crap you'll collect over the course of them game. I like that talking to some of the NPCs (the guards in shady sands for example) gets you new recipes for weapons / items, makes them feel a bit more involved and less like set-dressing.
Battle damage is cool too, but fairly unremarkable - she gets more tattered as the fight goes on and you allegedly lose defense as it happens, but I never noticed this in actual combat; Which is a good segue into what still sucks about this game - the combat is still whack.
Combat - it still sucks noodles. Still an awful slog of doing pissall damage and having 2/3 of your attacks miss (this is aggravated even further if you turn on the Lust affects battle mechanic in the options menu).
What really bites though is how this directly links into the crafting system - in order to get all the best goodies to craft with you'll need to either buy them or get them as drops from Raider enemies. Raiders have 30 HP and fight you generally in pairs - so have fun missing for 10 minutes a battle as you slowly whittle their health down for a chance to get an empty bottle.
Handbook - don't know if this is new this update but its really neat regardless; Has lots of cute information in it. I particularly like the Bestiary that has tidbits about the enemies and a heatmap of where they spawn in game. (No more running around like a headless chicken to get those losing CGs)
Overall it was a kinda cool update; Not much here for you if you're only looking to beat off but I like that they're trying to flesh out the game as a game. Now if only they could fix the freaking combat system.
See you all in 3-6 months when the next update is out
