its safe. and works.
you cant just just add the zip file as a mod pack in curseforge. what you have to do is create a profile with the correct minecraft version. then take the.jar files inside the zip file. and place inside the mod folder that you open via curseforge.
and then its done and ready to go. there aint much content. but there is a few things you can do

Just a heads up, I installed this mod and a few hours later my Microsoft account was hacked. I don't know if there is a correlation, but it is an awful coincidence.
