This game is interesting ... but it takes like 65% of the way to start making sense. Yes, it can be considered canonical and you start to realize that after 2/3 of the game.
I had fun with this game. 90% of the game is fluff and funny stuff; how Shirou et co spend their lives (but there are some sad stories there; poor Homonculi
). There is a slooow moving plot, but the meat and bones of the game are the random stuff. THIS IS NOT FATE STAY NIGHT in the sense of plot and story! ! !
Don't expect fast paced combat, thick plot, dark stories etc.
Play the game if you want to see how Shirou's life would be if X things have happened.
Or better play the game if you wonder\want to see:
- How Lancer hits on girls.
- How *Rider* hits on girls.
- Shirou's porn collection
- Saber's marriage
- Illya's (frequent) attempts to enslave Shirou
- the names of some of her teddy bears (let's hope there's nobody trapped there...)
- Sakura's obsession with Shirou and jealousy towards every girl she perceives as a competitor for his affections.
- Sakura's "diary" in her warded room that is an "assassination notebook
- Caster trying to dress up people in Frily dresses. *Including* Issei...
- Caster suspecting Kuzuki cheats on her with Fuji-nee
- Caster pretending to be a garbage bag
- Lancer getting close to death by stealing Saber's food during a day in the pool
- Shiru's "rare and unique" Noble Phantasm that can distract Fuji-Nee and Saber (it's chocolate truffles)
- Fuji-nee winning Saber in a fight utilizing Shiru's Noble Phantasm
- A conversation with Future-Rin that borders Illya-levels of "affection"
- Sakura's "reign of boobs" in the pool and how it was taken down
- Bazett declining to work as a bodyguard in Fujimura group because... the cowards are too adverse to violence
and more...
5 broken dreams out of 5.
Perhaps I am biased because of Nostalgia though... This game will certainly help you scratch that Fate itch where you want to see more of your favorite characters.
This Visual Novel took me about 60 hours to read completely.
