Ren'Py - Fattening Career [v0.10b] [Bladerune9]

This is the definitive weight gain game currently in circulation. While there other games with extreme potential, none of them come close to the amount of content available in Fattening Career. Renders aren't 10/10 but they're still very very good and have only gotten better over time. Plus, there is such an enourmous wealth of render in this game, more than making up for an art quality that is already quite great. My only real issue with the game is the lack of interaction between female characters. Those that do interact do so very rarely outside of the hospital section which is, unfortunately, far and away my least favorite storyline in the game. Idk who's writing that section but they either need to seriously step their game up or pass the reigns to someone else. Honestly the best solution would just be ditching the useless BE hospital storyline and focus on the legitimately interesting/attractive cast of girls outside of that storyline, namely: Hari, Bonnie, Leanne, Trista, Maya, Marie, etc.

Dev should also make skill cap for charisma and strength, i have both over 200, and i dont know is it good, bad, do i need farm more or not?
I would like to see MC penis reworked , it looks strange, unnatural, like cock of dead person, could be bigger, to compliment bigger girls .

Surprisingly high-quality weight gain game.

Pros:
-The models are very good and have multiple body types, which becomes only more apparent as they progress further along in their weight increases. Some characters get massive bellies (daisy, Katrine), some get ungodly thick with massive asses (bonnie, Trista), and others are more of a MILF bod and are thick/chubby (Cayenne). The variety really helps to spice things up and appeals to a lot of different fetishes.
-The sex scenes are really good, and most of them very natural, not like they were just thrown in to give the player something to jerk off to. The MC and Bonnie's relationship did this especially well, they wait a good while before getting intimate with each other, a weaker writer would have had them have sex the second Bonnie admitted she knew what the MC's fetish was and was cool with it, instead their relationship continues to grow before they get down and dirty.
-Staggering amount of content, not just because there's actually quite a few characters, but each of them (except the nurses and the stripper) have a LOT of stuff to go through.
-The stat page where you can see each of the character's previous stages is a good touch, fun to see just how far some of them have come compared to how they looked at the start.
-The game actually acknowledges the health risks of being overweight in real life. Not really a massive thing gameplay or story wise, but surprisingly honest compared to a lot of other fat fetish games/forums.

Cons:
-Grind. Lots of it. It isn't too horrible until later in the game where you absolutely need to start using your own money to buy meals for the girls to get any sort of progress that isn't a snail's pace, they you really start to feel it as the money you make in the game is pitiful.
-While a vast majority of the characters are likeable, some really aren't. Katrine comes off as a hypocritical bitch every now and then, and while she does recognize her hypocrisy, she never stops it. I feel like the game wants me to support her over Trista whenever they clash, but despite the fact that Trista is a little rude to her (which is kind of weird since she never acts like that to anyone else in the game), I really just can't take anything Katrine says seriously, she just angrily lashes out at Trista for telling her the truth.
-Sometimes the writing is a bit wonky. The cult stuff came out of nowhere, and stopped being something that mattered to the story for a long time after it was dropped. The writing in most of the hospital scenes felt off to me as well. The MC is depicted as a nice, supportive individual in all of his other scenes as well, but the dev felt the need to kick that up to eleven in the hospital with how he interacts with the nurses. Yes, we get it, one of them went through a bad relationship and is traumatized by her past experiences (why she shares that with someone she just met ten seconds ago is beyond me), we don't need multiple paragraphs of the MC being a boy scout and playing therapist for her to show that he's nice. The scenes where he interacts with literally anyone else in the cast show this better, and with less text. You don't see a massive "Look, look how much of a good boy he is" sign waving over his head when he's helping Bonnie salvage her struggling business, or when he's helping Hari overcome her shyness and open up to the world, those are written much more naturally. The overemphasis of it in these scenes just comes off as insincere.

TLDR:
-Very good game, while it's focused on fat fetish it has enough "normal" content that even people who aren't specifically into fat chicks can still enjoy most of the game. Lots of characters, most of them well written, and lots of content. A few rough patches in the writing, but very solid overall. Definitely worth a try.

- Lacks a gallery. Would be really nice if the gallery allowed you to set the stage of fatness for viewing the scene
- Grindy because it's basically a trainer
- Saves might not be compatible for the next version of the game
- Later stages of fat take a lot longer to progress to than earlier stages
- Some characters like Daisy have too many stages of fat and it's difficult to see the difference between each stage
- H-scenes are gated behind fat progression. So you will get no scenes for some of the characters until you reach a high stage of fat

Conclusion
This game is a mix of dating sim, harem, trainer, with visual novel elements. It does a really good job covering the fat fetish and offers a range of different models. The writing is better than average. The H-scenes are quite good, but could be better if the dialogue was dirtier and the animations were faster. It would be really nice if the game offered a gallery where you can select the scene and the character's stage of fatness of your choice. As a person who neither loves nor hates the fat fetish, I liked the game overall and would recommend giving it a go.

This is so outside my normal realm of enjoyment that I can't do an in depth review, here's a short review of the segments.

Gameplay: 2/5, excessively grindy but being able to see the stages is cool I guess. Some of the roaming events were interesting as well.

Story: 4/5, gonna be honest, I started skipping once it got excessively grindy, but there is definitely a story here and it's actually kind of interesting.

Art: 4/5, I hate to admit it, but it was good. Seeing each stage and the characters grow more was pretty interesting.

Overall: 3/5, I can't give it higher because honestly the premise made me laugh too much. Those who enjoy this type of thing will really like this, otherwise if your more like me, maybe one bust, but fair warning all the sex scenes require you plump em up. Probably not gonna come back to this ever, but kudos to the dev for making something interesting out of a lesser known fetish.

It has a lot of problems.

The fattening fetish is nicely done, but the grind is too long and too random.

The characters are very basic, but I didn´t dislike anyone except the teacher.

There is no music which is very bad.

The story is very bad, it started as nothing special but then the teacher reveals she is part of a cult who want that every woman is fat because of nonsensical reasons, why did the story need a cult why coldn´t it be a simple feed and make girls fatter story I lost all investment that I had.

The MC is very boring and looks ugly.

The sex scenes are good they have animations.

The gameplay would feel way less cheap with a map.


If you want fat girls/ feeding fetish you can try it.

The game's solid, art's good, and the .6 update adds some great stuff from what felt a little lackluster before. My only complaints are that there's still a good number of scenes that are placeholders or otherwise labeled as 'WIP' or do a "fade to black" thing, and there's a lot of poor english in need of an edit. A lot of the scenes just flat out need a writing redo; a game where the CG's are mostly static and kind of flat has to rely on the writing to really bring it to the next level, and right now it just doesn't. I do hope that once it's more fleshed out, this will be a real gem for an under-represented fetish - all gonna depend on what direction the dev takes.

Edit: Sad to revise it, but it looks like the game is going downhill. All the focus goes to the weight gain stuff, which is hot and all - but the sex scenes are so lackluster. The pool threesome barely has such a half-hearted animation, and there's so little text to go with it. Dev needs to realize that they're making a VN - visual *novel*. This genre of game can be made great with good writing, but it really feels like the novel part is being let slip by the wayside.

Mad Decent! I love the Art 4/5, and the concept 4/5, the Variety of NPCs is 5/5 . I only wish you Could Max the Girls out to unlock the content and then revert them back to whatever your preferred Size or Weight (I.E Stage; 6/17) and continue the story.

I don't know why but there is just something about feeding and fattening women that is just so hot. This game takes that aspect along with many girls to a whole new level, even better than other weight gaining games like Vale City or Selena Belly Story / Surf the Belly. Each time a girl progresses into the next 'stage' of weight gain, she visually is bigger than last time. I especially like the Stats and hope to see more Stats for all the girls, as it has most but not all. I also hope to see settings to put weight in Imperial (Pounds instead of Kg, and Heights in inches). Currently the breast, waist, and hips measurements are in inches so that's a plus, and is interesting to follow. Seems like a bug where after they girls get to the highest stage their wait still goes up despite no other stages, probably for future updates. I also hope that we can maybe have the ability to stop the weight gain for each girl, and even lose weight maybe in the future. Daisy gets really huge and while it's hot for a while, she seems too big at times. I really liked the variety of Body shapes, especially Bonnie's Pear shape, and Luna's Hourglass. Marie is probably my favorite Apple shape, and Lisa has amazing curves but I wish we could have more scenes with her, especially a threesome as she is Bi. Natalie, Sally, and Rebecca are also so sexy and curvy, I hope to see more scenes for them.

Stand out game for feedee/bbw/ssbbw/belly lovers. The game has some room to grow:
- more animations needed, no sound, few orgasm animations.. and it would be nice if decisions had a more profound affect (some foods bloat vs high calorie, but the game treats it all the same).. this would cut down on the monotony.

But for where the developer is and it being a new game, this is a home run.

The models are really good looking, but the renders look quite dated unfortunately. This probably won't change in the future, so the same rating will apply to the final game. I have no real issue with this, but worth mentioning.

The character interactions are good, the writing is OK, but there's barely any story unfortunately. There're some NPC's and you try to get them fat.

Mechanics: 4/5
The stats and the whole feeding stuff is great, although the changes of the NPC measurements could be made more obvious. For example the teacher tells you to write down the measurement changes, but the game could show them to you...

The effect of the feeding, the "body modification" part is really awesome! Unfortunately things end here, there's real porn in the game, but it's totally forgettable. It's a shame, I hope this will be better in the future!

I'm really glad this game exists, and it has a lot going for it. There are multiple paths with multiple, diverse love interests (all revolving around weight gain in one way or another); the renders are lovely and plentiful; and there is some hot writing for some of the love interests! The progression is well done, and it feels exciting every time there is a new weight level and associated scene and dialogue. All this is great.

On the "could be better" side, the writing is pretty inconsistent. There are a lot of typos, miscapitalizations, and awkward wordings in some of the content (especially some of the earlier content, and in the responses to feeding Daisy in the classroom).In addition, there is a lot of repetition in the core loop - you go to the school, feel Daisy a milkshake or tacos or whatever, and hold ctrl through dialogue that you've already read in multiple scenes. The Daisy feeding scenes in the school could really stand to be rewritten to be more lively and less, well, pointlessly monotonous (feed her a tater tots, "very good" - then repeat ad nauseum). It would really help if the game were to guide the player to new content and do things like avoid giving options "like 'watch a web cam'" if there isn't any new content in it, or avoid going on a date if it will be exactly the same dialogue each time, etc.

All in all I like this game a lot, and I hope that the gaps in quality between components will be ironed out.
