What does this have to do with the point I was making? He asked me games featuring the kind of protagonist archetypes I described and I did just that. Regardless of the plot both of these games feature a personality-less creep as the main character.
there is a game called Kelly's family which feature adult non creep protagonist too
o just wanted to make sure he know it before he play
the romance and NTR are two opposite things

Each game has its own audience, because not every individual thinks alike, which is great.
For me it is male protagonist, because Mc is kinda my extension, I project myself into that character. So choosing a female protagonist would be weird or stupid for me, especially in some sex scene, lol (I would get a feeling like I'm getting boned, ffs). Maybe that works for some other "kinky" ppl, gay to, but for straight guys is pointless and stupid. That's why I'm avoiding all those female protagonist (and non avoidable NTR) games, no matter how good renders or animations are in them. Call me old fashioned, but I don't like that and that's how my mind work.

if your brain got damaged by porn you will find yourself accepting any fetish so you should be happy

BTW you are just like me except that i hate NTR not just don't like them

I'm not trying to shame anyone for their kinks or lack of, but you don't have to be 'damaged by porn' to prefer a protagonist of the opposite gender or like NTR.

I mean, really it comes down to how much of a "person" the protagonist really is.

In plenty of Japanese games, the dude is literally a blank figure that's there to provide a reason for a penis to exist. I mean, it's a step beyond "objectification" in my mind to this literally identity-free or identity-lite ghost. I dunno if that's necessarily done to make the fantasy easier for people who get into these games, or if it's just because it's often unnecessary for the protagonist to be more than just a penis. I mean, there is literally never a faceless woman in a Japanese game who isn't a plot- and porn-unimportant NPC. Sometimes you'll see (like that Frontline Prisoners) game some faceless female NPCs who have tits drawn in just to be another pair of breasts hanging around.

Anyhow, back on the subject. I usually end up playing female protagonist games, I've noticed, because I guess it's more interesting to watch one female character sexing up a bunch of different men than to watch one male character sex up a bunch of different women. Monster girl games are the exception.

Like I've said in another thread like this one, I don't identify with the characters in porn games at all, and I almost never even consider the story in them (and therefore almost never play VNs). Hell, most of the ones I play are in Japanese, anyhow, and I couldn't follow the plot without a bunch of work I'm not willing to do.

(Sometimes I think we oughta have story-vs-porn profile badges like the Patreon or buymeacoffee badges. There's a pretty obvious divide in the porn community between people who do want a strong story in their porn, and people who don't really need a strong story in their porn. It'd kinda help folks contextualize comments in discussion threads like this one--contextualize, I want to emphasize, and not disregard. It'd be interesting.)

EDIT: I'd encourage folks in the thread to be a little open-minded. Keep in mind that not everybody plays porn games to fantasize about themselves being in the game. Think about a normal game that lets you enter your name as the protagonist's name: certainly some people are going to enter their own and fantasize about it happening to them, but is it really such a stretch to conceive of a person that DOESN'T do that?

male or female protagonists depend on the story/tags.
i can see myself playing both .
i dont favor 1 or the other, its the tags im more looking at .
what matters most is the story ,a good build up, characters have to matter, art not so much if the story is good.and a good ending.

@samoo About NTR, well I hate that too, but I had to draw a line somewhere. There are a lot of games where you can avoid it and just forget about it, so you can still enjoy in a game.
@Duke Greene I wouldn't say enamored. It's all in immersion, how deep you are into that role which you play. Otherwise you will not enjoy fully in the game. If you are going only for fap material, then there are others sites just for that. Type, select, play, fap and that's it. At least there are real ppl, you don't need to imagine anything.;)

I prefer male MC's for two reasons. First, it's more immersive to play as the same gender. Second, games with female MC often lack decent love interests (particularly males).

Ultimately, it all comes down to how well the game is written and designed.

One prevalent discrepancy I don't like about the genders is how male MC is almost always is untouchable, gets away with everything and has little competition or challenges. At the same time female MC gets dragged through all kinds of shit, they are abused or worse and nothing ever goes her way.

Dude... I adore how your mind works, it's sooo different from mine. It's really fascinating.

Firstly, 2 years ago? What do you mean 2 years ago? Many of the best NTR games were already around (either in development or already finished) 2 years ago.

Secondly, what do you mean by "seeing their girls abandoning them"? I mean, it's quite alright if you feel like the female characters in adult games are actually someone's girls, but I think, if that is indeed the case, you might have some issues with differentiating between fiction and reality. I mean abslutely no offense. I just really think it's important to separate the ideas of, on one hand; being immersed in a game and a character, and on the other; feeling personally betrayed or offended by NTR in real life. I mean, I enjoy NTR, but that doesn't mean I would enjoy my actual girlfriend fucking around. Sexual fantasy doesn't necessarily have to result in sexual reality. And also, when discussing female protagonists in adult games, I would argue that this actually allows the male player of said game to distance himself a bit more from the plot/storyline (NTR and so on) and thereby enjoy the content more for what it is, in and of itself, as opposed to 'what this means to me as a human male in the real world'.

I can enjoy both but I do prefer a male protagonist. I tend to like to identify with the protagonist at least to some degree and I just can't do that with a female protagonist. There are some genres where I actually do prefer a female protagonist though. NTR/Cuck type games hold no appeal to me if I'm playing as a male protagonist but I can tolerate them if I'm playing as a female since I'm not invested in the character. I view myself as more of a spectator/puppetmaster when playing as a female.

Morality/personality of the protagonist also matter with regard to whether I would prefer a male or female. If the protagonist is written to be a total sleazeball no matter what choices you make, then I have a harder time identifying with the male protagonist where if it was a female I wouldn't care.

Thanks for your response, dude.

You're right, that is great.

HAHAHA! You're funny, man.

Alright, where to start?
Where... to... start...? OK, let's all take a deep breath here. Don't worry, we'll make it. We'll make it... together, baby. Just take my hand. You're safe with me.

Firstly, let's start with your idea that female protagonist games are only for 'kinky people', 'gay people', and that for 'straight men' such games are 'pointless and stupid'. This is false. I'm not saying you're judgemental or anything (actually, the very act of me saying that would be judgemental, would be judgemental in and of itself, since feeling the necessity to defend against being labelled as gay, is practically the same as saying there is something wrong with it, but that's a whole other discussion), I'm only saying that those comments are simply and plainly outright false, you know; red-light-hit-the-brakes-wrong. I don't think I really need to explain this to you. I think you know this isn't true. I think you are fully aware that female protagonist games are both being played and developed by straight men as we speak.

Secondly, I would like to go back to this comment:

For me it is male protagonist, because Mc is kinda my extension, I project myself into that character. So choosing a female protagonist would be weird or stupid for me, especially in some sex scene, lol (I would get a feeling like I'm getting boned, ffs).
This is a really interesting comment, because it speaks to the notion that a woman can't fuck a man, but can only be fucked by a man. I'm really interested in the underlying psychology of language/'choice of words' and such, you know, so allow me the opportunity to analyze a bit on this comment of yours:

The comment reflects a viewpoint of women as a passive entity in sexual engagements, the underlying implication being, that a woman can never be in control of a sexual encounter, that a woman can never take charge, and the woman can thereby only be the dominated and never the dominator. Your own realization of such viewpoints being 'old fashioned' is actually quite an astute observation, since these ideas hark back to a time-period where female sexuality was opressed and viewed as something shameful. "Getting boned" is wrong. However: 'Boning someone else' is not only acceptable, but actually a symbol of status. Status over the aforementioned "boned" individual/ "boned" other. We are now, at this point, engaging in a dialogue regarding genderized power struggles with the sexual encounter between man and woman being our starting point for further discussion. In other words, we are now looking at the sexual encounter itself as a struggle for power. Are you following me here? So, when you state, that you don't want to play as a female, because you are afraid of "getting boned", what you are actually afraid of is losing your (sexual) power; your status of being above a genderized 'other'.

For further reading, I suggest checking out Judith Butler's books on gender-theory.

Anyway, I hope you learned something from this. I learned a lot.

Love you, man. Kep on keeping on, dude.

I completely agree with everything you just wrote.
It's like we're the same person.
Shit... I'm getting paranoid now.
Are we the same person?
FUCK!
I gotta pull the shades, turn off the lights and find myself all over again...

well... here come nothing... but my own opinion :p

for me it depend of the game itself. by that, i mean if the game is small or a AAA.

if the game is a AAA i DONT buy it if he didnt have possibility to c hoose to play male or female (best exempl.. i never played any Far Cry, still i buyed Far Cry 5 because we can play as female).
soo yes, i like to play as female in big game.

but in small game, wich are mostly porn game from here :p , i prefer play as male and rarely as female protagonist. not only because female protagonist never have a decent mentality (they most of time used as stupid bitch), but more because i prefer imagine myself ( just a bit), as the MC and fuck the girls :D.
i can barely imagine myself as a female having sex, even lesbian. and the (like i mentionned before) IQ given to them on porn game push me away from it.

that IQ alo push me in to play female on AAA/big game. due to fact most of them arent stupid bitch but badass girls (Faith, Femshep, Lara croft, Aloy, etc...)

still say, i dont really have preference globaly, it depend of the kind of game.
meh if someone make a porn game with a badass girl in it, i will like it :).

also, if i play female and i can customize her.. i love her redhead more than others :D

Honestly, it depends on the game.
If it's one where the female protagonist (and by extension the player) has agency removed from her to satisfy a fetish, then I'm not touching it with someone else's 40ft barge pole.
If the female protagonist retains agency, and the player chooses what to do, then I'll have a look and give it a try.

The same goes for male protagonist games.
I'm not into NTR/Cuckold games, or sissification/feminisation games where it happens against the player/character's will, or has no means by which the player can counter such things. Removing character/player agency, again is a hard pass.
Transformation/feminisation games where the content is at the player/character's control, I'll give it a shot. Might even allow for some roleplay/replay value. The same goes for games with potential NTR/Cuckold themes.

Outside of porn gaming, in the more mainstream, CRPGs and other games that allow for choosing character gender are fine.
I'll typically only make one female character, just to see the differences, if any, but I'll still do it.

oh, also i forgot.

in most game, female characters always have more customization options than male. thats also a point that push me to play female on some games. (outfits, haircuts,etc..)
