There might've been some sort of background sci-fi organization you get recruited to. The mom works at a bank you can also work at. At the end of an update the mom got amnesia.

Just started playing it again. I guess it is the game. Could've swore I played it before 2020 and I couldn't find any sort of comment in the thread talking about the memory loss.
