For those of you who like doing "virgin runs" in games...

I mean, when you play a porn game, it's at least partly for the porn, right? So why play a game with porn in it just to specifically deny yourself from seeing it?

I'm predicting the most popular answer might have something to do with the gameplay. Maybe you just REALLY like the game itself and would rather be playing it than being bogged down with sex scenes. Maybe there's specific rewards or something for getting through the game without getting fucked, or you just enjoy the challenge of trying to avoid getting fucked.

But even still, I can't see much "reward" in doing that. Let's be honest, most of these kinds of games are the same dime-a-dozen RPGmaker games that you've played a million times already. The only reason we're really playing them is because the porn IS the reward for slogging through it. So I'm curious why one might (in my opinion) waste their time playing through an often mediocre game just to avoid the treat that this entire site is based on.

The only kind of game I could see myself doing a virgin run for is one that REALLY made me feel for the characters. And the only game that I've felt that way about so far is Demons Roots,

So why do you do virgin runs?

I don't normally do virgin runs, since I'm all about the corruption, but I can be picky and avoid like 80% of the optional content. Just because the game has a fat-bastard gangbang doesn't mean I want that for my MC. If the game's sex is like that and it's optional and there's also delectable moral degeneration stuff without sex... yeah, I'd do a virgin run and I'd enjoy it too.

Also, if the game is well-written, and the protagonist is the right type, I could see myself playing without sex. Game like Kingdom of Deception, I could see myself playing a tough Sabia that doesn't become an orc warlord's bitch. Of course, I'd do the bitch route first because I love that shit when it's well-written with corruption.

Because sometimes its fun to test devs patience, if he's good the game wont end abruptly, we can piss off people on the game and still have a "incel ending" or so.
Sometimes the game is so good you simply don't care at all, there's enough sex online if you want, and the story is what matters, ex: Summers Gone one of the GOATs.
Also there's a lot of people doing gallery unlocks so se can still see the scenes.

Some games like that are legitimately fun and make me -want- to win. Locking all lewd content behind losing has always been an odd game design choice. In other cases it's a matter of not liking the tone of most of it. If the lion's share is rape, for instance, then I don't really want to see a character that I like and identify with to some extent come to harm. 'Soft rape' kinda-sorta skirts around it, but plenty of h-games are just straight miserable hard R rape.

A lot of these games just flat-out don't get what the meat on the bones of a corruption game is and so present it as 'a girl so unrealistically naive that she barely knows what sex is despite wearing slutty clothes turns into a slut because she gets raped a lot'. The good ones understand that it should be a choice between struggling on a so-called morally upright path and the temptation to use sexuality to achieve your goals. Using rape is both lazy and defeats the appeal; it should involve coercion, dubious and dangerous situations that you can nonetheless navigate - even if it means learning to do things that might seem shameful - or even just situations where concessions (that can lead to more concessions) are made.

Something else that always struck me as odd is how segregated NTR is from 'vanilla' corruption. You see little hints every once in a while, but for the most part it's always either a full-blown narrative devoted to cuckolding or it won't be present at all. In my mind an obvious start to a corruption game is to ramp up from small concessions, like a regular girl who might have a puppy love type crush but never -really- went beyond some innocent flirting is thrown into a situation where the easier path forward is to flirt in a way she's never tried before and discovers that guys are more willing to help her if she acts a little slutty. There you have a little ember lighting up, a small thought that can grow or not depending on how you play, that can conflict with her innocent notion of how love works. I've seen a few where the scenario is rescuing a girl's boyfriend or something to that effect, but not many where you have a choice to recruit some guys to help you and in the process presenting some temptation.

I guess what I'm getting at is that I'll go for a virgin run if the game's creators were wholly uncreative when it came to thinking up ways to get h-scenes into the game.

lol fair enough response! For me, I guess it's cuz I like the interactivity of these games, instead of just hitting play on a video or reading a hentai or whatever. Sure, some of the games I've "played" have basically been just that, where you walk from point A to point B, collecting sex scenes on the way with no real gameplay.

And I guess I like the build up. Sure, even if the game I'm playing has a generic story or even barely any story at all, at least it's something. And the whole experience lasts longer and tends to have more variety in the whole package than just a short porn video. Can't tell you how many times I've seen a porn animation I really like, but it's only a few seconds long, or it's the same short animation loop over and over again with no finish to it. Most sex games have at least a few different scenes and scenarios, and almost all have a clear start and end to the CGs or animations or whatever. What can I say, it's hard for me to cum when the characters seem incapable of it too lol.

I mean, you're kinda right of course. I could achieve the same thing, or very close to it, by just consuming more traditional porn mediums than this. But I like porn games best, and hopefully those reasons listed at least make some sense as to why I do. I'm not bashing people who like virgin runs or even necessarily bashing cookie-cutter RPGmaker or Renpy games or whatever; I'm just looking for personal reasons and explanations from people as to why they do that particular thing, just like I've tried to explain myself above.

So why do you do virgin runs?

Many games with a virgin run also tend have a reward for it. Be it an extreme power boost, a powerful item granted only to virgins, an OP weapon that turns to garbage when you lose your virginity, or just a much better ending.

Also consider that many games have galleries now that unlock regardless and it kind of defeats the purpose of losing.

Personally, if I don't find the game fun regardless of the porn content, I generally won't even play/finish anyways. I value the game itself more than its porn typically.

I usually see if my MC can possibly finish an AVN without fucking anyone. To see if you are forced into shit or not. The stupid games with game overs, I do not like (and other types) I'll leave the "game overs" for games like "Elden Ring"

Then you have games that stick the MC with a gf/wife or a girl that will help the MC get tons of girls. If I am the player, let me play the way I want. I hate games that don't mention that your MC will be in a relationship already, will have a girl wingman or if the story will lead you to a specific LI.

So, I try my best to see how long the MC can last. I did one "virgin" run in one game and my MC ended up dead... like your MC can't live without being pussy whooped.

I don't see the point of virgin runs, but maybe the game has some fetish that I really don't like. For example I feel Empress games (I had to look up the name) have A tier art, but they always also have scat. I would be nice to avoid those scenes and maybe even have the game acknowledge that no poo poo was smeared on your face. But in some cases it would definitely not be a simple switch and a lot of effort has to be made to code in an alternate route.

I play virgin route since a lot of the time, games unlock all of the scenes after finishing it and I can view the scenes I want. It also because if I like a character a lot, I don't want to see them getting harm like getting rape after getting defeated or making a dumb decision on purpose.

Usually because I already played through the game getting a train ran on me and I actually appreciated the gameplay enough to see what would happen if I played with two hands. LonaRPG is a good example of this for me. The game is, by all accounts, a disgusting rape sim where the acts portrayed are not appealing sexually at all. However, I enjoyed the gameplay of the game, and avoiding being raped or kidnapped as a vulnerable woman gave the RPG a sense of high stakes and punishing difficulty that made it so satisfying to progress in, in a way that non-adult games that just have you fall over and reload from the last save can't really replicate.

TL;DR: I think a virgin run is best when a game has genuinely fun gameplay and the porn is used as a 'bad end' or otherwise some kind of punishment.
