VN - Ren'Py - Forbidden Thoughts [v0.2.0] [SecretGallery]

Really not much to this game. The renders are a very familiar style and there are some decent scenes, but the translation is rough, and the plot is a little too unbelievable. There aren't really any choices to be made. The only real options your given are to be physically abusive or just manipulative. Could be much better as it gets developed, but at the moment there's just not enough.

I normally try to give a little leeway in early development because I don't want to discourage any Devs from continuing to work (there are enough abandoned works as it is) but I just can't bring myself to rate this game anything other than a 1.5 or less.

There are no decisions to be made, even though there are clickable commands like "follow her" without any other alternative, which should warrant a Kinetic Story Tag. This is my biggest gripe because to me, that's false advertising even this early on in the game's development.

My other criticism of this story is that everything moves much to fast. I don't mean that it needs to be slowed down a little, I mean that everything practically happens overnight. You wake up go to school and meet a new transfer that has dirt on EVERYONE, laying the LIs neatly in your lap without resistance, problems or repercussion. There is no corruption. No slow burn. No build up. No anticipation. The incest just falls into your lap which makes the story not only unrealistic but extremely boring. Without any adversaries or strife to contend with, I lost interest before being able to finish.

And why does the MC want to control everyone all of a sudden? There's no motive, no plot or end game other than him just wanting to bang every female around him. Normally, that's what all guys want to do but blackmail, degrade, abuse and mistreat everyone, even your loved ones? Why? If the sister and mother were shitty to the MC, then it makes a little sense at least. There is no clear motivation for doing any of the things the MC does other than for Porn's sake. Yes, this is a porn game website. But if every Dev just posted generic, flimsy porn situational plots like other REAL porn sites, F95Zone would cease to exist.

That's another thing, how is it that the MC is suddenly a master at Domination? For all intents and purposes, he's just a High School student. How is it that he is so experienced in everything he is doing to the LIs? He makes no mistakes, has no hesitations, no second guessing and no guilt? What is he, a machine?

I am actually a fan of the MC being able to go down a DARK route instead of traveling the Gary Stu path every time. Not enough games offer this Dark Side option IMHO but that's the thing. It should be an option of being good or bad, not automatically forced down the player's throat.

I hope there are changes made to correct some of these legitimate complaints then I will happily amend my low rating. You can do it, SecretGallery. I believe in you!

I must have a very different goal when looking for games on this website compared to the rest of the people who are leaving reviews. This is the first review I have ever written because the current rating is completely unjustified in my opinion. The love interests are quite attractive, the translation is completely passable, the animations are a little janky but FAR better than the AI animation plague infesting the website. Content is short, as it is v0.1.6, but what's currently in the game is pretty decent. If you like the tags you will probably have a decent interest in the game. The story is nothing special but also not the worst I've ever read lol, but I am really not here to read novels. I highly expect with the current reviews this game will not be developed for long but I truly hope that is not the case. I will happily follow this games development because finding dominant/"evil" MC's is quite difficult. As I said, if you like the tags you should probably check this game out.

I was initially drawn to the game because of the tags and the (in my opinion) cute models, but I was disappointed and should have ignored it when I saw the ratings.


Story - straight up porn, no build up which defeats the entire purpose of incest if you ask me, it removes the whole taboo feeling

Language - not terrible, but there is some russian even though it's supposed to be in english

Sex scenes - not very good, weird movement and the models react poorly to collision (mouths during BJ scenes and so on).

Music - serviceable I suppose, I never thought of it when playing the game so it can't be too bad

Gameplay - not great. One thing that really irks me is that you have to interact with the quick menu if you want to save, with the exception of pressing 'H' or scroll click and *then* righ-clicking. Why not just letting you right click from the start? Also no option to change dialogue box opacity is a minus in my book.

Edit: also, the UI is very bad where the saves are too big to fit on the screen and the pages for saves get hidden behind the pictures. Maybe this is only a problem for me because of resolution or something? Super weird.


Ultimately - maybe it can work itself up to a 3/5 with some work, or slightly higher if you aren't here for a story and just want some sex scenes. I don't recommend it and there are way better options on here

Review for Forbidden Thoughts [v0.1.6]

Overall: 2/5 - I saw this game was on its 3rd update and had a decent list of tags, so I gave it a try. Unfortunately, it's still very rough.

Renders: 3/5 - The female models are decent although maybe a little too similar-looking to each other. The quality is mediocre at best. The renders are about where VNs were in 2015. On the upside, it makes the download size very small.

Animations: 2/5 - Some are OK, some are absolutely terrible. For example, watch the sister's mouth during the blowjob/deepthroat scene. WTF is going on with her lips? The resolution for animations seems to drop by about 90% when switching from renders to animations.

Writing: 2/5 - It's poor. I think there's supposed to be humor that is completely lost in translation. The dialogue is so unnatural it doesn't just break immersion, it prevents immersion altogether.

Sound: 3/5 - I don't care for the music. It's not terrible, it just feels like I'm on hold on a customer support call. Some sounds like the phone are good. The sound of mom masturbating was too soft. Maybe it's supposed to be, but I could hardly hear it to understand what it was.

Story: 2/5 - It moves way too fast and most actual storytelling is missing. It's not clear why the MC literally just woke up one morning and wants to fuck and dominate his mom and sister, nor why some girl at school appears to have a clandestine plan to turn the MC into a sexual predator. Is the player really supposed to fill that in, or just not care? It just doesn't make sense overall, and the parts you can make sense of seem very adolescent-like.

Gameplay: 2/5 - It's a VN, so there doesn't have to be much gameplay, but most of what's there is unnecessary. I'm not really sure how all of the choices impact the story. However, a lot of the choices are just single options. Why even bother? There was one WTF choice, where the MC is at a coffee shop talking to Adelle, then the player is given the single choice "Go Home", the next render is MC standing in front of a door with the options of "Enter without asking" and "Knock". The player has no idea what door this is. [Edit: I went to try to figure this out and, while you still don't know what door it is, if you turn up the sound all the way, you can hear something that is supposed to be a woman masturbating. I could barely hear it with the sound at 75%.]

Bugs: 2/5 - Several language issues where the game switches to Russian dialogue even though the selected language is English. Save/Load interface is unusable because of overlapping UI elements. This bug prevented me trying to see what changes when you select different choices. Some standard Ren'py user interface actions (like right-click to save) are disabled for no apparent reason.

Terrible, this game has so many problems that it shouldn't even have been released in this state, even calling it a beta would be a huge exaggeration and an act of generosity.

The story is really bad.
The translation is not only MTL but also very poorly done, some parts are translated, but others are not.
Ren'Py is broken, and that's the most absurd thing, it doesn't even have a custom UI, just broken.

If I say more, it would only be criticism, but what I mentioned above is the most serious, fixing this would make it at least a three-star game.

The rating system on this forum is fair:

A mindless incest game with a nonsensical plot.

Pros:

1- Very cute characters.

2- Decent sex animations

Cons:

1- Juvenile. The story starts right off with the son having sex with his mom and sister. There is no plot whatsoever, it is just one silly scene followed by another.

2- It's a machine translation I suppose and it's very bad.

3- The English version of the game is broken with Russian text appearing in numerous renders, making it impossible to follow what's going on. Actually, this might be a good thing.

4- There is no black dialogue bar making the text hard to read.

5- Very mediocre renders and character poses.

*Boner Meter - Flaccid

A poorly written game that would only appeal to those who fap to 3D images and could care less about plot or story development. There is no "N" in this AVN.

The game requires a complete re-write and proof read if it is to be taken seriously.
