Are there any places / sites to find work helping on coding 3D Adult Games?

I am an experienced programmer, however I dont know that I want to "Make a game", but wouldnt mind helping out and debugging etc.

There are many places where you can find work. upwork, fiverr, Gamasutra, GameDev etc as a freelancer.
Make a post on one of thous sites and tell a bit about yourself, experience & knowledge, (programing language etc).

And there is also Reddit. r/gamedev, r/adultgames
And Discord groups like AGD, Adult Game Developers. etc.
And lets not forget this forum.

However. one issue if that, gamedevs/studios are rarely just looking for some random dude to help out a bit with their work.
And Helping out with debugging is not as simple as it sounds like.
For that you should also Have experience with the GameEngine used, not only know some programming.
If you want to get into some of the serious games, imo better look/apply for a part time or a full time job.
Other than that, my best bet is to just lurk around formus like this and check the Dev section once in a while to see if you can help out developer or modders.

Be aware that the "level" of understanding from the majority of game creators is going to be a LONG way from the standards and practices of professional software dev companies. LIGHT YEARS AWAY.

So you will need to seriously tune your discussion and expectations into a much simpler and more forgiving mindset.

You will encounter code that would cause a computer science professor to commit murder-suicide.

You will encounter people who don't understand the basics of logic, who even refuse to read documentation, let alone manage to grasp the concepts of computer programming like e.g. variable scopes or class vs instance.

But here is the crazy thing about amateur game dev - it barely matters at all (for basic click-click-choose VN games).

These "gaps" in understanding are actually very very unimportant in the big scheme - far more important is the willingness to WORK WORK WORK for months and years, willingness to learn a ton of NEW SKILLS re: writing stories and dialogue, creating graphics, creating UI, managing digital assets.

Perfect quality code for a game that dies after v0.2 is meaningless.
