Ren'Py - Abandoned - Galaxy [v1.4] [Viperr]

The models are good, the interactions are fairly simple, but the thing that really breaks this for me is the idea that a starship crew would have nobody who understands the basics of relativity on board. The idea that anyone would be surprised at time dilation effects on a ship traveling faster than light is simply ludicrous. I only took a year of physics in college, but the very first course was Newtonian Mechanics and Special Relativity--not really rocket science. Of course, a ship traveling away from earth faster than light is undergoing ridiculous acceleration, which means the time dilation will affect the ship much more than the people left on Earth. That's why this only gets 3 stars from me-a big part of the premise is simply wrong. In fact, if the ship Galaxy is traveling a lot faster than the robot ship that preceded it, it could actually arrive at the planet before the robot ship, because of the time-dilation effects of acceleration. All that aside, the dialog is simple and not well motivated, like a porno--go figure. Not a great game. Not sure if I'll bother to keep playing it.

This game is about a crew of colonizers sent to a distant world because the Earth is dying due to environmental collapse. They are the last, best hope for humanity, so of course they sent only the thirstiest and least qualified crew they could find. The only qualification apparently being that you have no family back home and that you're hilariously oversexed.

Things go south almost immediately when it's discovered that the planet you are supposed to colonize lives in a weird time warp and is already inhabited and has dangerous flora.

In fact there are all sorts of Sci-Fi tropes coming out of nowhere at any time just to keep you on your toes.

Gameplay: Well, there really isn't any. This is a Visual Novel. There are some A/B choices that will either increase the "seduction" stat of a character or not. But that's it. It's not at all clear what the "correct" choice is much of the time due to the iffy translation, and the rollback tends to be locked out at those choices so I got in the habit of saving at every choice. Which is good because I ran into some game crashing bugs at times.

Storyline: Absolutely batshit. Unfortunately in 1.3 the translation is pretty rough and I found myself getting tossed out of the story at times. There are also a few parts that aren't translated (IMs on the phone) that you may need Google to translate. But even if the translation was good the story lurches around quite a lot and has a ton of samey characters that I couldn't match name to face with a gun to my head. At one point you're given the choice to let one of two characters die and I couldn't remember a thing about either one of them.

Sex content: Pretty traditional fare. Some spanking, a lot of BJs/HJs, some 2 or 3 frame animations. The models have proportions that are mostly within the realm of reason, which is a big plus. No titmonsters on the crew. However, especially near the end of the story the animations get pretty sloppy, with blatant clipping issues and hair sticking straight up, and heads flickering.

I don't care how freaky you are, nobody is into lung fingering.


Overall: There is supposedly a translation cleanup in the works that should help, but the storyline is still going to be pretty bonkers. There are some bugs that can be fixed with patches on these forums, but you have to seek them out. The graphics are passable mostly, except for the aforementioned glitches, but nothing to write home about in a world with some really beautiful renders. Overall length is a good 3-5 hours at this point, depending on your reading speed and how often you stop for fap breaks. The sex scene animations can't be interrupted, which is kind of an issue since they're 2 frame loops and go on for a bit too long at times.

Very nice and captivating storyline, though with very, very few choices along the way. Though maybe, the idea is to add those once the main storyline has been set, but for now, it's more of a barely interactive visual novel. The early part of the storyline has a crazy amount of sex in it, it's almost a parody on some movie I never saw (or a computergame I did play?), so much is it. But, once the crew is preparing to explore their destination, it tones down, and the story picks back up. Sadly things ended with a crash for me a good while after that, but, gladly, I did make a save about an hour before that happened.
