This could be level drain, some kind of addiction mechanic or just the inexperienced kind've MC getting too engrossed in lust. I love the idea of your Hero MC dude depending on others to the point of over-depending and then becoming useless because of it, due to level drain or just that they are becoming more powerful than you so you just give up. Or being seduced by the sweet type that keeps doing everything for him until he is unable to anything himself, while also pointing out how dangerous it is outside, playing up his fear so he'll stay with her forever.
