I am trying to do a ren'py game which will have near zero sex scenes (maybe one or two at the moment) but will have lots if i can finish my main storyline. My question is what do you guys think about games that don't have too much sex scenes but instead focuses on story? Do you read them just because they have good stories, or don't even read at all, but give it a chance if the models look good enough?
I think i should achieve good storyline first but afterwards here and there put sex scenes. I know this website is made for porn games but would you read a story based visual novel game with not much sex going on? Should i publish after i put at least 10 or so sex scenes ?

A good story is what keeps people interested in a novel, visual or not. Keep working on that and just leave some placeholders like <SEX SCENE> so it's easy to find them once you actually decide to work on them.

As to when to publish it, that really varies. Do you want people to get into the story soon? If so, you can release alphas and WIP versions. People might offer feedback that might include oversights and spelling errors, as well as point out things that could be better (though they may not be right in that, but that's beside the point), so it's not all bad.

Interestingly, F95 is a great "cemetery of abandoned h-games". When it comes to VNs, the problem that seems to happen most often is the writer getting sidetracked with whatever isn't important to the story proper. So, focus on the main story, add the side stuff, like sex, later.

There are games on this website that have near zero sex scenes, but still managed to get a lot of support. Yes, people are here for sexual content, but teasing kinda is sexual content, so if you do it well enough, that might get people hooked anyway.

I am fairly new to this so i guess after doing the start of my story i can get opinion of people here and what they think about not having much sexual content. I am also aware of dead h-games and even tried to understand why most of them go abandoned. I will try to avoid most of the mistake those developers do. I guess after every 3 release or so should have sex or teasing content so people wouldn't get boring and stop following it.

I think a good VN should have sex scenes that are integral to the plot. Narrative and sex should not be mutually exclusive, if you can leave out a sex scene without affecting anything then the scenes are going to come off as awkward and out of place. So, just because sex is happening doesn't mean you can't also have character building and plot progression as part of those sex scenes. A good sex scenes is not an isolated piece of fan service, but a normal and rational progression of a relationship.

While it is possible for an actual relationship to exist without sex, remember you're writing a story, feelings that convey "more than friends" are difficult to get across in a story, sex works great for showing that two characters find each other physically appealing and aren't just creeping by peeping each other in the shower. That is just the base line. Adding details to that only reinforces the depiction to the audience that these are two characters who share both a physical and emotional bond with each other. Rather than seeing them as a bother you should think about how you can integrate them into the plot, otherwise you've got a story about two friends, I mean if you're going for story in which the hero and heroine are just friends, then I suppose that is fine, but don't expect to convince anyone they actually find each other appealing without showing the audience some proof of that.

if it holds your interest it's fine. if it doesn't you're gonna abandon it early. that's the most central problem you'll be fighting, and listening to others will only increase that problem because you're not doing what you like anymore.

also no matter what you do, no matter how many people you try to please, there will ALWAYS be loads of people who hate it. so that's another thing you need to get straight in your head, there will never ever be situation where people won't absolutely hate your game. if you're hoping listening to someone stops people from hating it, that'll never happen. you just need to ignore all that and focus on what YOU think you should do.

for every commenter screaming your game doesn't have enough sex scenes there will be an equal numberof us who will delete the game because sex was too easy, too early, and posed no challenge getting to. there's just no winning if you start taking notes from us. make your game, write the story that makes you happy. there's no other way to survive.

You're at the wrong place buddy. I mean there are a few games here without sex scene. However, most of them do have it as its important for a good VN to have sex scene in the plot.

I personally like Rebirth. It's a vampire game with political undertones which has almost no sexual content.
If you create an interesting story, then I'm definitely interested in reading your virtual novel.

Tbh i mostly use this site for dating sims and i play quite a few dating sims without any sex scenes, as for none dating sims i don't care too much about the story.

My game is a sandbox world conquest with strong domination and impregnation themes. When I started it I didn't ask people if they wanted to play it, I just felt an urge to create it. Due to it's somewhat offbeat nature (there aren't many games you can compare it to), its reception was slow but I just kept going. One year later I have over 100 supporters because I found my fan base.

My point is: if you do it with passion and put your heart into it and don't despair, you'll find your base. Some people will curse you and whine about the lack of sex but others will support you for this exact reason. Remember the double Ps: Patience and Passion (for Porn). Good luck!

Summer's Gone and Deluca's Family already proved that for you so don't worry. IMO story may not the most important thing in VNs, it's character. If you can make the attractive and likable characters (LIs) both their look and personality in this genre of game (To put it simply, just make many good Waifus. XD) that's almost everything you need for people to keep playing the game.

It's actually a story about where characters move according to some vivid dream and find out that what happens in the dream turns out to be true and they find themselves in a multiple side involved murder case. I am actually kind of scared because when i wrote the story there wasn't even a sex scene in it and it was a really serious story. Now i am toning down the seriousness to some extent and planing to add some romance but i guess the story is kind of unique for the audience of this website. i need adjustances for the audience of erotic game enjoyers since i am using erotic game character models  Well since i can't publish my book as a book i decided to make it an erotic game :D
Also, thanks a lot for everybody's good wishes!

For what it's worth that sounds very interesting. (y) Sex is a part of everyday life, shouldn't be impossible to weave a few scenes into any story really.

I'll add sex for you.

The MC doesn't know that dreams are real yet. He thinks it's a lucid dream. Hell yea! He finds his mom and sis and bangs them super aggressively. He wakes up. Oops, that was real and now he is a rapist. Cops are after him. So he goes to sleep and murders the cops. Now he is involved in the murder case.

Hmm this might be a cool jojo parody. "This must be the work of an enemy stand...!"
