Geminism is more style, less substance. That is not referring to (just) art itself, it means that what can actually be gathered by reading this is limited (quantity), and often shallow, or in the domain of common sense. With that said, this is not universal, and expectations getting in the way tends to be personal business. What is good then? One style of narration (immature twin), grounded supernatural inspirations (not a lot of "flashy"), overall mystery, if the "past arc delivery" is to be excluded (repetitive flashbacks), a different (clever) visual presentation, and literary devices in general, (more below) even if the praise doesn't go far.
Wasn't particularly impressed, but it's still a solid VN. Could be better though.
Positive:
- Style - First visual presentation, by way of vignettes (character's entire face, just the eyes, just the mouth section...), restricted color palette (outside CGs), and numerous NVL sections. I thought it was OK, and number of (individual) visual resources is acceptable for duration.
- The other style - Standard stuff, even so it's worth a mention: Compact setting that doesn't feel suffocating; The POVs might be predictable, but they add value to the characters (Exemplifying: Couples feel mismatched, it helps characterization in each route); Themes, in the form of freedom, happiness, purpose... More importantly, no real right or wrong driving them; Meaningful figures of speech like metaphors with candy, allegory with fishes, and symbolism with aprons. Conflict, tension, plot progress, all done "by the book" too. And the rhythm of the narrative is pleasing as well (personal).
Summary: They can write.
Neutral:
- H-scenes - I don't see the point if we are thinking true to purpose, and if not, I got the gist of it after 2. Analyzing them normally reveals problems in terms of quantity, build-up, diversity, visual improvements (2023), placement in the story, and tags. If you want to think of them as inextricable (from the rest), it gets better because the 4 characters can be viewed in a different light. It's on neutral.
Negative:
- Substance - Basically, the VN goes nowhere, at least from my perspective. Twin contrast? Logical and illogical, selfless, and selfish, strong and weak. The guys? Straight man and funny man, order and chaos, tradition and adaptation. Conclusion? Humans have tiered necessities depending on their conditions, and are capable of exhibiting multi-faceted behaviour. I only see the beginning of that in Geminism. Telling me that X (rich, bored) wants to take advantage (sexually) of Y (cute, vulnerable), but that doesn't stop the creation of genuine feelings, is not an earth shattering revelation.
You broke through the "trope level", congratulations! Now put in the rest of the work (They didn't).
Score: 6.5/10. It feels like it could be better. If you can write and have good ideas, the end result should have been different. At any rate, this position might be too demanding, so considering difference factor, and above average factor, this is recommended. It didn't feel like a waste of time, just potential.
