I'm sceptical of AICG, i'll throw that out there to begin with. Lots of problems with lack of intent and not liking the way models are trained on stolen material using the "go fast and break stuff(especially the law) business model.
Reservations asside, i've recently i've seen a few games with pretty decent AICG images that are not only good enough as filler/standin art but that look good period; like BrainRot:https://f95zone.to/threads/brain-rot-v0-2-enzo-studios.251822/ which is a pretty simple VN. Normally a VN lives and dies on it's writing and visuals, assuming you don't have actual gameplay like Long Live the Princess ect. and BrainRot actually manages to not drop the ball visually and writing is decent(early days but seems good).
I should state that i'm no artist, i can just about throw together a pixel art sprite sheet on a good day but i'm not likely to be able to make saleable quality art any time soon. As a prospective solo Dev that's time i could be using to get better at coding, writing or other skills that i'll need. As such the idea of having reasonable quality AI art to throw in on a game in the early stages of development until i can afford a decent artist or just to add images to a text based project is pretty appealing.
In short what sort of workflow/tools/programs would i need for this and would i be able to even run it on local hardware, say an RTX 4070 12GB Vram card.
Frankly any pointers about where to start would be good. Would i need to be using a server side arrangement and paying for rendering like with a render farm for DAZ or would it be as simple as setting up a comfy UI workflow with a custom Lora or two and treating my rig as a space heater this winter?
All technical comments welcome but please keep the "AI Bad!!1" to a minimum, i get it, it's not ideal but it is interesting and i'm largely asking out of interest.
Perhaps there is a better place to ask this but, hey i've already had a post removed from the BrainRot thread for asking about how the art was put together (sorry mods i'm working with the UK internet and civitai isn't kosha anymore apparently)
