Review for v0.5.1
Honestly? Better than I thought it would be. It's not without flaws and really is a pretty simple game overall, but it's one of those games for me where despite a lot of potential shortcomings it has enough charm and personality going into it that I find myself not really caring. Thus, just enjoying the game for what it is.
You start the game as a human slave just arriving to Pistachio Village, tasked with going around and helping where you can. You quickly learn you're a sort of chosen one bound to make their people prosper, which actually doesn't change much in the short term. Despite being a slave no one really treats you like one, which works for the game. There's just a lot of little charming bits of dialogue, which is elevated by the art. There's a plot at work, but this is by no means some intricate story game nor is it really trying to be one. Like the translation is very not great, but it really does not matter much.
The game does play like a sandbox. You go around helping out by doing various tasks that have some sort of mini game associated with the. get rewarded with some gold, reputation, and a stat increase. Raising those stats gives you new opportunities to do stuff around the village. Sorta grindy, but pretty easy to raise everything. Get max rep, go to the queen to increase your "slave level" which also lets you do new stuff basically.
The sex scenes are an area that suffer from the simplicity. Usually the game just throws up a quick cg with a little dialogue. Nice art, but it's just too quick to where it almost feels like some sort of image collector. There's one scene that has a second angle, and I think all the scenes need to be like that. A little more dialogue wouldn't hurt, but then again with the current translation maybe not.
Overall a fun RPGM game to turn your brain off to for a bit. Needs work, but I'd come back to it.
