Ren'Py - Goddesses' Whim [v0.4.2] [Ncrow]

I have literally never posted a review, not even for amazon or anything like that, this game was that good that I have to write one. BTW: I will not spoil anything in this review, I think, idk, but I was careful.

#1 BEST thing I love this game for is the fact it doesnt have a time limit for anything, meaning if you really wanted to you could quite literally spend the entire time chopping trees if you like have a tree fetish or something. Some of you might like the pressure of a time limit, I call you all crazy masochists.

This is an amazing game. Just download it, but dont get scared by like the first few images of the game because granted they are not the best to look at, it gets so much better fairly quickly despite a slowish start. Amazing unique characters, good sense of design, not pre-built backgrounds. Many more characters than shown, developer still adding more content.

The only thing I really hate is how they kind of force you to develop a relationship with EVERY available character before you can go on to others, in some rare cases like unlocking a new area it's necessary for character dialogue but I just wish the dev would actually do some interactions between characters to make building up each one worth it. HOWEVER, do not despair as honestly if they didn't make me develop a relationship, I woulnd't have known how amazing each one of them is written and how unique each character is.

The grinding cant even really be called grinding, you have to chop trees for wood and get fish to sell for money to build new parts of the house to unlock scenes, but its kind of random what you get each time. It is kind of annoying but they give you a better way to get money later on and wood you can just keep chopping for cause no time limit.

Animations are great, granted they do repeat, but each scene has multiple and you can move on at your own pace (I don't remember any that has only one), and some have like 10 scenes its insane.

You will basically never run out of content to do until you get to the end, I have no idea how people on here can finish games in like 6 hours of total playtime cause this literally took me like a full 2 weeks.

Fucking adorable characters, like damn, like double damn, like tripple damn, the person who made this KNEW what they were doing.

Each one of the characters has a unique quirk, all of them are easily distinguishable, and have features that allow you to easily tell them apart and ways of speaking that you can use to tell them apart even if you were blind.

The page (first post) for this game on does not do it justice, there are many more characters, they all have a good amount of scenes, if you are ever stuck I have no idea how but this dev made like the best hint system I've literally ever seen and it is super specific to your situation.

Only downsides about this game is that you have to talk to a character a lot to get affection up, and also the part about how you have to level multiple up to unlock new scenes (explained why this isnt terrible in p4). HOWEVER you don't actually HAVE to keep talking to them, there are natural events usually that give more but if you really want to go for one character you have to which I find slightly annoying but its understandable as it's not really how you're supposed to play the game.

The main character is cool at times, kinnnnddddaaaa overhyped by everyone else, but honestly it makes sense cause you would want to make your players feel good about themselves. There's no other like relationships going on, no cheating at all, no ntr, it's really just a very wholesome game for the most part.

The story is meh, HOWEVER, I feel it does not detach from the game as, well, yk, I kind came here for a different reason. That is not to say it is bad in any way, the story was obviously at least planned out, however it is not exactly the most unique thing I've ever seen. Though that is just for the MAIN STORY (Like im talking about world lore yk?) for the side characters it's very good, like surprisingly good for some of them (cough cough shop keeper).

There are not like any easter eggs, I guess there's an event 3/4 of the way through the current game that isn't exactly explained or like shown/told to you exactly how to do it but it's pretty dang obvious.

The developer seems to actually develop, and he is getting a scary amount better at it, I doubt he will abandon the game.

Really good game. Tons of interesting different girls. Tons of positions. Really good looking video game, borderline AA title.
The gameplay is not perfect but considering what others games are doing this is still above average.
The Dev sure knows thet they are doing

It's alright but has some glaring points.

I hate the combat system on pc, unexpected quick time "click here fast" segments really just suck. I mean seriously why even? I typically like to read these types of VN's while drinking and use a 16k dpi mouse so these "pinpoint 3 sec click windows" are just obnoxious. Hands down would just suggest dropping the unnecessary combat all together it just feels totally out of place.

The Fishing, Logging etc feels incredibly pointless. Its 100% just a lazy way to pad out the time it takes for progression and doesn't really add any sense of reward or anything its mostly just a nuisance. I dont see any reason to add pointless grind to a VN it doesnt add anything to the experience and only takes away from the story progression.

There are ALOT of very seemingly pointless interactions that don't really add anything to the story or progress the story at all? Honestly they'd be a little better if they were more evenly paced within story progression but you hit a point where the story leaves you on the verge of SOMETHING happening but then its locked behind a large amount of seemingly pointless character interactions and conversations that in no way really add anything to either character development or story progression. In a way it feels like its just dragging things out for the sake of teasing/delaying actual story progression with a bunch of disjointed random content.

The story has some odd pacing, it throws excess story (or filler) one moment, and then just back to back to back H-scene content. It would be more rewarding if the non H and H content were more interlaced and less "bunch of side content/bunch of nsfw content". The H-scenes themselves are alright, they use a lot of shorter loops which is kinda less exciting without some scene transitions to make it flow more natural. Props to the effect usage and more "flexible" or "squishy" content.

Menu interaction and general "quest" hints/writing needs a lot of work. The character menu is kind of annoying to close out of the other content is as simple as just click his face again, while the character info can only be closed by the option at the bottom of the menu which just seems a bit unintuitive? Mostly just a personal gripe on my part, just seems like it should be less of a hassle to find WHAT you need to do and also not have so many clicks just to enter or exit a manu. Having the quest section but then just using a generic "check the gallery to mark progress" just makes the quest section seem pointless/frustrating with how vague many of the quests are. Especially around the point of getting to the 2nd town.

This has a lot of potential depending on how the story continues to develop, but really needs some polishing here and there.

After having 100% completed up to 0.4.2, I do not think there is a single thing I can hold against this game, apart from maaaybe the overuse of generic anime language. But other than that I don't have any issues. Scenes are great and well animated, girls are cute, I personally enjoyed the story too, if a little confusing in places. I play with all audio disabled so I can't comment on that. I did find the hints useful, they're not cryptic or too general. Technically they're not "hints," just instructions for what to do next, but it's far better than games with outdated or vague hints that barely help at all.

I have really enjoyed the game up to this point and I look forward to seeing where it goes. Absolutely in my top 5 Adult games, but I may be biased towards this visual style. For now I'd give it a 9/10 and I would 100% go for a 10/10 if it was "completed."

This game contains absolute love from the creator, every scene/ text that has been written is amazing and they make references to certain jokes from anime to memes. The story is simple yet also serious in some ways but there is a good balance in between, what also important is that every sentence that u read the characters are a dynamic so basically u don't see still standing images but actual facial expression and body movements! The only issue that I have with the game is that around middle the story that u need to grind for no reason but later u will notice that the developer removed it in some way but also returned it which is confusing? |

Story is bad and not very interesting.
MC is beta and a pushover character who let's girls do what they want to him.
Game is really grindy.
And having MC getting beaten up by Akane one of the main FL is not funny. Also choices don't exist in this game.

Imo the best animation in any game period, not buggy, clean and easy to play, best scenes, characters, etc. I have tried out maybe 8 other games and I just cannot get behind the animation especially the regular old 3d look, the animations are janky and stiff and just quick easy loops, maybe like 1-3 variations. This game is a work of art.

Over the top grind is killing it for me. No, its not fun doing the same minigame for 10 minutes to progress the story, and no, its not fun to have no agency whatsoever but still needing to farm gold, wood and fish just because you decided to waste even more of my time.
And no, movement in this game is not fluid or fun either, its getting old to farm girls affection with the same scenes for 2–3 times before you actually progress. For the love of god, why would I need to progress with everyone to continue the story...? Considering the grind that the author forces upon you for each one of them, it's atrocious.

And finally, even if all that wasn't present - the story is boring and cliché, the MC is a pushover and the player has no say in his actions.

At this point, why make it an RPG like game at all If it has no "role-play" part and only the boring mechanics to it?

Otherwise, animations are pretty good and characters are wholesome. that's about it for the pluses.

Game is very grindy
you got to score gold that you can get 70 per day and its usually 200 for 1 progress thing 1000 for chapter 2 in total
Wood which is the worst as you need 500 for chapter 2
and 30-100 for 1 thing
wood you can get 2-10 per try and you can try 3 times a day
its tedious slow and have awful minigame
there is also worst minigame fishing which is absolute crime
but you only need like 15 fishes and later they never came up

Minigames aside a lot of girls looks like kids in this game
catgirl, slavegirl and silver hair girls are awfully too young looking for game like this
also your character is beta receiver with no agency in sex scenes
i can not dominate silver hair girl or own blonde
also game demand you to progress all characters, not just the ones you like

Amazing game with high-quality custom renders and animations, an engaging plot, great humor, sweet romance, and incredibly charismatic characters.

A SFW version of this would lowkey work, it's that good.

Literally, the only thing this absolute masterpiece of a game is missing, is more anal scenes, heh.

This game has everything you could ever ask for a NSFW game, an interesting Isekai tale, snappy dialogue and absolutely beautiful animation and art. Playing this game has been one of my favorite experiences of the past few years and I'm eagerly awaiting every new update.

An actually good vn with thoughtful characters decent story. Good scenes with thoughtful background and motions(sfw) and honestly cant even describe how good they are from headpats to simple gestures and poses really give animated feel. Decent minigames not too much grind, just long enough to not feel like swamp or no miningames at all(lumber chopping is the weaker one and fishing is fun ). Interesting locations and open world navigation is very smooth and very well thought out if you want to travel somewhere specific, use map and if you want to stroll around you can do that (bonus points for making your room all the way down in the same button so if you spam it you will get home fast or return to the previous location so you wont get lost). Good status screen very obvious what you need to press and quest system gives abundant information on what do you need to do next without external resourses. Not to mention cute girls look absolutely adorable(bonus points for moster girls). Overall a very good game that doesnt feel bad if you play it, one of the best ive ever played tbh, and thats considering its not even finished yet

i've been loving the story so far. it's got a great mix of humour, friendships, naughty teasing, and character growth!

Differrent characters have different types of H scenes which is nice too. The map is really useful for jumping around places. Would love the ability to re watch all the H scenes, and Critical plot scenes instead of making lots of Save files to keep them.

Been meaning to play this game for a while, and damn, am I glad I finally did. A hidden gem for sure. Wasn't sure about it at first, but I am glad I made the leap to give it a try.

Artwork/Animations - 5/5

So typically when a dev uses these models, I notice they struggle with proportions, the face, or mainly (and this is what normally gets me) the feet. It's one of the reasons I was skeptical at first. But rest assured, this dev NAILS the artwork! The models are beautiful, the animations are so smooth and clean, and the girls' feet look beautiful! Yes, that's a big deal to me. :3

Storyline/Dialogue - 5/5

The story is actually pretty good. It's nothing complicated - the MC is trying to find his way in his new life, but it's very cozy and worth taking time to read and not skip through. Another big win for the dev is the dialogue. It's well-written, with very few (if any) errors. One thing I actually really enjoyed was the talk during the sex scenes. Many VNs and games out there struggle from poor sex dialogue (if any) where it's too over-the-top. This dev finds a wonderful balance between cute and sexy that actually enhances the sex scenes in the game. Real talk - kinda how any guy would want their girl to talk to them during naughty time.

Gameplay/UI - 5/5

The game's mechanics are simple, and I actually like it's not just a VN. You do have to complete some quests to move the story and build relationships, but it's not at all grindy. The minigames are simple and enjoyable, and the navigation isn't at all complicated. I feel the dev went out his his way to make sure everything that was put into it was enjoyable, and they succeeded.

Overall, very cute game with great models and a great story. I hope the dev continues his amazing work.

My one ask? I actually hope there's preggo content down the line here. But that's just me.

This is actually much better than I thought. The story isn't that mind blowing or something but it's decent, and the LIs are so lovely and adorable. The best quality of this game is definitely the animation, I didn't expect it to be so fluid and enticing...am I using the right word?

If there is anything that I would complain about, this is a bit grindy, there are a lot of times when you have to repeat some interactions in order to unlock the next content. I don't really mind it but to some people maybe it's somewhat tedious.

If all you care about are the animations, download this game. My only complaints are story-level. If you're reading my review deciding whether or not to play the game, play it and stop reading. I'll spoiler text as liberally as possible because I genuinely believe that anyone who has come to this site will enjoy this game and I don't want them to see more than this opening paragraph. The rest of this review is more for people who want to write fiction or make games.

This game is very good. There's really only two things holding me back from a perfect rating here. While the first one could be solved easily enough, I also acknowledge it's a personal taste thing and that my opinion of it doesn't necessarily stand for everyone, but the latter is... Again, approach my opinions here with a grain of salt because some people might not agree with me, but I think when you have a game this close to flawless, flaws like this glare quite hard.

My minor complaint is the usage of video game terminology in character dialogue, like making something an S-rank monster or something like that. It's the kind of thing that exists in the UI of video games that I don't think floats well into the story, mostly because nobody would talk like that. If there was a wolf roaming around outside my town killing people, we wouldn't refer to it as an "S-rank wolf," we'd say it killed 27 people or whatever and somebody needs to kill it already.

My main complaint, and the only real reason this isn't a five star review, is
I still really like this game, and when the day (hopefully) comes that it's labeled as complete and sold somewhere reputable, I'll gladly pay out for it still, even with this rather serious plot issue. It just sucks that the game seemed to be taking it's own internal story reasonably seriously and then have a moment like that happen.

But it's still an otherwise fantastic game, with some of the best animations and graphics I've seen, alongside good characterization and world building. And there isn't so much grindiness that it annoyed me, so that's a plus too.

The storyline is good, I guess, though I occassionally don't pay attention to it.

The art... the animation... it's basically like nothing I've seen before. It is GENUINELY spectacular.
The game has a little grind in on it, but you can get a lot of money by spam-teaching those students and you're in the clear for that part atleast.

I started playing and didn't see time passing by.
The characters are charismatic, for me the cuteness is the best part. The story is simple but it fulfills the role of being interesting enough to keep my curiosity, besides that I liked the comedy parts.
Finally, the sound is ok, I just missed the female voices.

This game truly stands out as one of the best H-games I've ever experienced. The narrative captivated me from the very beginning, weaving a rich and immersive story that kept me engaged throughout. Furthermore, the art design is stunning; the visuals are not only aesthetically pleasing but also perfectly complement the mood and tone of the game. Overall, the combination of an excellent plot, strong character development, and beautiful artwork makes this game a remarkable find in the genre.

honestly its very rare for me to enjoy a game enough to go and leave a review but the characters and the writing really drew me in, the fact the scenes are also really good is just a bonus.

i find myself awaiting the next update because i want to know what happens, its not something im used to feeling on this website. this game is special.
